Hey man, welcome! That's cool that you are familiar with Showdown it will really help. If you are interested in Tours, see this link Here. As you've said OLT is going on, so you may want to wait for that to finish up. If you are looking for competitive resources, I'd suggest you go see Competitive Discussion. Here you can select your tier(s) and find many useful threads corresponding with it. Things like viability rankings, Sample Teams, Good Cores, and lots more. I'd also suggest you take a look into the SmogDex which holds all Pokemon Sets & Analysis. These analysis will contain things like: Pokemon EVS, Pokemon Move Sets, Usage Tips, Good Teammates, and even a list of Checks | Counters. Its a very useful tool indeed. Considering you have been playing awhile, I'd assume you have a set in stone team. You should really see the Rate My Team section of Smogon. There you can get constructive feedback on your teams. Also, a few rooms you may want to lurk on showdown would be: Rate My Team, Competitive Tutoring, Tournaments, OU, UU, RU, or any other tier room if you have picked up a new tier.
If you haven't already, I suggest you see the Smogon Info / Intro Hub. Here you can find many useful threads to get you introduced to Smogon more smoothly. We also have an IRC chat room, for newer players to come and hang with us, so feel free to stop by. Best of luck with OLT, hope you make use of these links and Smogon.
Hi Gua\/a!Hey,
I've been a lurker for a while. I'm pretty familiar with the competitive scene and made an account to join Tournaments and contribute where I can. I've played Pokemon since Blue version, and started getting into competitive way back in late 4th gen. Took a long hiatus with 5th gen and am now back to hang out.
Nice to meet you summer_rain96!Hey, everyone! I'm Summer, and I want to do more with competitive battling.
I've played Pokémon since I was 9... About 10 years now, with Pokémon XD Gale of Darkness. (Because of that, Eevee is my favorite Pokémon!)
I've always loved the games. When D/P/Pt came out, I started to hear a lot about competitive battles, but was never sure where to start.
I work a full time job now, so I don't have time to do much with the games anymore, but I won't let that deter me from competitive battling!
So, that's a little bit about me. I'll be floating around here getting information from time to time. See ya later!
Hey and glad you decided to introduce yourself:) I know from experience the best way to get better is to get familiar with the tiers and what Pokemon can have what move set etc...the best way to improve this is to constantly keep battling and battle more players. Smogon also has a place in the intro hub where new users can battle I recommend you go check it out:). I got into the competitive scene also two years ago and I have improved massively mostly by myself. However, my friend was able to help me get started. I would be glad to do the same and help you out with some stuff. If you go to mibbit and type in smogon there should be a chat room called shi. Also you can skype me and I can help you out as well as the other users in the Skype chat. I hope you enjoy smogon and if you need something feel free to message me.I have this account for quite a while now, but never actually introduced myself? Well, that's a thing that happened.
Just might as well, give a little rundown of my "competitive experience":
2010 was pretty much my first experience facing someone, using a competitive team and as I, up to that point, never even knew about stuff like this existing, it should be obvious, how that encounter turned out. In fact, I only started caring about competitive play after the rise of X and Y, although it still took me untill a couple months ago, to actually get to a point where I stopped using random mons on my teams (although, my team building skill is still terrible). I'm also still in the process to learn more about the metagame itself (which is why I've been lurking the OU section for quite a while now). The same also applies to strategy execution during battles; ganted I'm well aware, that it's going to take a lot more than just a couple weeks or months, especially since I consider myself a rather slow learner.
Other things to say...well, let's just say, I'm way to serious for my own good.
Hello welcome to smogon. If your confused about Ivs feel free to check out my giveaway link in my signature that has access to three links about IVs and EVs. My first generation was generation four and three and there great games especially generation four my favorite generation. If you need something feel free to message me or Fluke or QueBien. You can also go to the mibbit chat by typing in #smogon and going to the chat shi. You can also message me over Skype if you need something. Hope you enjoy smogon.Hey Smogon community, the names Nunu. I'm brand new to Smogon (treat me well senpai!) and i thought i'd give these forums a shot :) I've been playing Pokemon since Generation 4 (officially) and just started playing competitively with a small group of people in my town (back in the day) so from there my interest grew and i just love Pokemon. For 2-3years now i've been on a Pokemon hiatus due to me not having a 3DS but this changed recently so now i can get back into it. I'm still pretty new to IV breeding concept and probably need help on that but i definitely have a pretty solid grasp on EV training (really simple in XY). The games i've got on my 3DS are XY and Alpha sapphire, and also planning to get ruby soon too. I've been following and using the smogon site for awhile now (since diamond and pearl era) and i just thought this was the best time to join this awesome competitive community since it seems Nintendo is moving in that direction now (making the game simpler and less time wastage). So... after all that... NICE TO MEET YOU ALL!

thanks :D
also i need help on evs and ivs.. thanks
Hi Elix1D!Hi everyone,
I'm Elix, nice to meet you all!
I started to play pokemon with Pokemon red in 1996 and i've played more or less all the next generations. With Gen V i've started my breedeer career, but i still don't know much about battling, so i hope to learn a lot by visiting the forum. I've already used the Dex many times to create pokemon ready for competitive battling for other players who don't like the breeding part. Now i would like to learn more so i can create sets for myself and others who may need them :)
Have a nice day :)
Hello Abishkar1!Hello everybody. I'm Abishkar1 and I've been around smogon for quite a time but just made an account recently. I live in Nepal and play mostly OU Doubles, Anything Goes, OU and Ubers. What actually brought me over here on smogon was it helps me learn many things that I possibly didn't knew and get a better understanding on the things I already knew. Thanks for your time, and I hope we can be friends :)
Hi welcome to smogon. I'm not a certified tutor but I can help out with some battling tips. I also have a skype group chat and the people in the group chat can help you out as well. Plus the battling 101 has a place you can go to get help from active tutors and there pretty nice. If you want to get better in pokemon battling you should be trying to play on pokemon showdown as much as possible. Smogon also has a pokemon showdown forum as well. Also there is a group chat on Mibbit. Go to mibbit and type in #smogon. Then go the bottom and there should be a group chat called Shi. People can also help you out in there as well. It took me two years to get decent at competitive battling and it was a interesting two year ride. Good luck on smogon.Hello, guys!
My name is Celia (Yes, I'm a girl). I'm a long-time Pokémon player, but online play has never been my thing.
I used to play Shoddy Battle about 6 years ago, but I was completely terrible. Imagine someone who makes a good team, then blanks out in the middle of a battle and does everything wrong. That was me :P
However, I want to return playing, this time in Showdown. I'll need a good tutor to help me. Hope I can get one soon.
I really hope I can keep playing this time, make a lot of friends here and get to love this community ^^
Oh, btw, English is not my primary language, so I hope I don't make any serious grammar mistakes lol
Best Wishes
I never actually played in ubers. I mostly play in OU UU and RU. I'm glad to see that your enjoying pokemon showdown. You should check out the smogon strategy dex for anything you may be confused on. Also smogon has a group chat for new users on mibbit. Type in #smogon on mibbit and look for the Shi group chat and people can help you out. Also you can message me over skype if you need help. All of my skype info should be in my signature. The best pokemon team well it really depends on skill level and how much you know about the tier. Even then if you know all of those that can become a stretch. It's pretty hard to build a consistently great team especially in OU. If you need something feel free to message me or Fluke or QueBien. Enjoy smogon.I'm Scomo.
I played Diamond and Pearl as a child; more recently I picked up on X at Christmas, but I fell off the wagon in the game post-story. Recently, a question came up on my mind again; is there a Pokémon team which is better than and capable of beating any other possible team?
I knew Smogon from a while back, so I looked it up; from what I've read, I take it the best Pokémon team is likely an uncompetitive one with a Mega Rayquaza, shitloads of OHKO moves, Swagger and whatnot, which is kinda frowned upon. Nevertheless, I tried Pokémon Showdown and I'm really damn impressed, so I'm going to go hard at that in the Uber tier and attempt to ladder.
- Your favourite Pokemon: Mega Rayquaza, on grounds of power, even if it's hated for it. Aside from that, Mega Mewtwo X or Xerneas.
- Are you on PS? Hell yes.
- What you plan to do here: ladder to fuck.
- Things you might need help with: Team-building and in-game strategy and tactics.
- A little background info about you in real life, if you're ok with sharing that: I'm interested in politics and hip-hop.
- Favourite Pokemon games: X and Y.

Welcome to smogon. My friend christian spends most of his time in UU and he actually helped me get to where I am in the competitive world of pokemon. I also like to play in RU and OU which I think are also great tiers. It took me a while to get really get somewhere in competitive battling to be exact almost two years.Hello, a new user. I mostly play in UU, but plays OU from time to time.
