Hey all, so I'm not exactly new to the battle simulators, and I've used Smogon as a reference for years, but I've never actually hopped on the forums much. I've now got a team though that is so much fun to run, and I haven't seen any body else in the tier actually utilizing Trick Room anymore. I made a new account on showdown and ran this team until about 1384 in rating. I'd love to make this team a top-of-the-tier team, but I'd like your help to rework the team a bit, or simply comment on it! So, here goes. (All changes in bold)
HitMyZong (Bronzong) @ Normal Gem
Ability: Levitate
EVs: 252 HP / 252 Atk / 4 SpD
IVs: 0 Spe
Brave Nature
- Stealth Rock
- Trick Room
- Explosion
- Gyro Ball
So, this is my most common lead, unless I see the other trainer has a ghost type. Strategy is pretty simple here, either set up trick room or stealth rocks (99% of the time it's TR) and make a grand exit with explosion. Sometimes gyro ball is used when the enemy has a fast Pokémon that's either weak to steel or has super low defenses.
Dawn (Dusclops) (M) @ Eviolite
Ability: Frisk
EVs: 252 HP / 4 Def / 252 SpD
IVs: 0 Spe
Sassy Nature
- Trick Room
- Will-O-Wisp
- Night Shade
- Pain Split
My main tank, and multiple TR user. This thing can stall out most things, while Night Shade will effectively ruin anything that doesn't run Roost/recover/ leech seed/ wish (dragonites, latios, vaporeon, suicune, etc). Pain split for when it gets super low in hp, and WoW for any physical sweepers.
Apollo (Talonflame) (M) @ Sharp Beak
Ability: Gale Wings
EVs: 4 HP / 252 Atk / 252 Spe
Adamant Nature
- Brave Bird
- Flare Blitz
- Roost
- Swords Dance
So, this is my option to fight outside or inside of trick room. STAB brave bird with sharp beak check many of the counters to my team (keldeo namely). I havent run too much with him yet, but the synergy seems to work very nicely.
Bae (Heracross-Mega) (M) @ Heracronite
Ability: Skill Link
EVs: 252 HP / 252 Atk / 4 SpD
IVs: 0 Spe
Brave Nature
- Rock Blast
- Close Combat
- Pin Missile
- Bullet Seed
The mother trucking star of this team. My favorite. My baby. Heracross-Mega is extremely strong, and with its skill link ability and type coverage, will usually get a kill 2-3 of their Pokémon. Scizor is the only hard counter I have found to him, as he can kill everything else. Things like metagross are also a decent counter.
Speedster (Slowbro) (M) @ Leftovers
Ability: Regenerator
EVs: 252 HP / 252 SpA / 4 SpD
IVs: 0 Spe
Quiet Nature
- Surf
- Trick Room
- Psyshock
- Flamethrower
Another secret lover of mine. Takes down things like metagross and scizor, because aparently nobody expects flamethrower on slowbro. Give him TR so there's a 3rd TR user, and surf/Psyshock for the two stabs, and I don't generally have an issue with anyone except bisharp, which I can kill so long as I'm not too weak.
Zeus (Zapdos) @ Leftovers
Ability: Pressure
Shiny: Yes
EVs: 248 HP / 164 Def / 96 SpA
IVs: 30 Atk / 0 Spe
Relaxed Nature
- Heat Wave
- Thunderbolt
- Roost
- Defog
The sixth sloth... the variable. I decided that if I was going to run Talonflame that I needed some way to control entry hazards, and Zapdos seemed like a the perfect thing (besides being weak to SR himself). Either way, he's bulky enough to survive at least one hit with a bad switch in to get the defog off, otherwise the combination between heat wave/tbolt and his bulkiness.
