Been on a hiatus from pokemon, and now I wanna play on showdown again. I'm not that good at teambuilding, though, so I figured smogon's RMT forum could help with that. A Hyper Offense team is something I've never really played around with, as I usually go for balance teams. I already tested this team out the past week and it does OK. I'd just like to get some suggestions.
HandleWithCare (Haxorus) (M) @ Lum Berry
Ability: Mold Breaker
EVs: 16 HP / 252 Atk / 240 Spe
Adamant Nature
- Dragon Dance
- Poison Jab
- Earthquake
- Outrage
I want this team to center around haxorus. Mold Breaker is great for levitators like rotom and multiscale dragonite, two very common OU pokes. Plus, it's damage output after 1 DD is stupid. Poison Jab is there to get around fairy types who think they have a chance. I use a lum berry to get around status effects that would otherwise cripple haxorus. I feel that its pretty important for a pokemon who's only job is to IHKO things.
Swiper No Swiping (Weavile) (M) @ Life Orb
Ability: Pressure
EVs: 252 Atk / 4 Def / 252 Spe
Jolly Nature
- Knock Off
- Ice Shard
- Icicle Crash
- Low Kick
Revenge killer and late-game clean up. Weavile hits hard and fast, and has priority. Knock off is basically the "you have no good switch ins" button, icicle crash's flinch chance is worth it, and low kick because fattys need to do some pushups and I'm all to happy to help.
TankYouVeryMuch (Aggron-Mega) (M) @ Aggronite
Ability: Sturdy
EVs: 252 HP / 16 Def / 240 SpD
Impish Nature
- Stealth Rock
- Heavy Slam
- Avalanche
- Rock Slide
Stealth Rock lead and a giant middle finger to physical attackers. Avalanche ruins garchomp leads, and rock slide hits zard and smogon bird. It also deals with fairy types.
NoThisIsPatrick (Starmie) @ Life Orb
Ability: Analytic
EVs: 252 SpA / 4 SpD / 252 Spe
Timid Nature
IVs: 0 Atk
- Hydro Pump
- Ice Beam
- Psyshock
- Thunderbolt
I've always loved starmie, so any excuse to use one is a good excuse. This isnt a spinner set, as dont feel that rocks really hurt this team that badly. Plus, I want this to be something of a wallbreaker, hitting stuffing hard (especially on predicted switches) and helping clean up late game if need be. BoltBeam is tried and true, and psyshock gets around mons like venusaur, conkeldurr, keldeo (if they have a ground switch in), and special walls.
OppositesAttract (Magnezone) @ Choice Specs
Ability: Magnet Pull
EVs: 172 HP / 252 SpA / 84 Spe
Modest Nature
IVs: 0 Atk / 30 SpA / 30 Spe
- Volt Switch
- Hidden Power [Fire]
- Thunderbolt
- Flash Cannon
Trap steel types, drop nuke-level special attacks, get paid. Drag-Mag is in full effect. Simply the threat of magnezone makes players run shed shell, which means they arent running optimal items. IMO, that's huge, and the only thing bigger is mag's special attack when equipped with specs. I believe that qualifies mag as a wallbreaker. It also deals with fairy types, and gains momentum thanks to a slow volt switch.
OldManJenkins (Conkeldurr) (M) @ Assault Vest
Ability: Guts
EVs: 252 Atk / 236 SpD / 20 Spe
Adamant Nature
- Drain Punch
- Ice Punch
- Knock Off
- Mach Punch
I need some more bulk, and fighting type priority never hurts, so here's conk. It punches holes in the team and stays healthy with drain punch. Ice punch is great for opposing dragons, as well as walls like landorus and gliscor. Mach punch goes first, so thats why you run it. Also, knock off does stuff.
Thoughts:
-I'm thinking of replacing conk with either a dedicated, suicide lead like garchomp (so that aggron can assume full-time tanking duty), or scarfchomp to deal with faster threats like mega lopunny, megazam, and +1 DD users.
-Starmie could probably stand to be replaced with something that hits a little harder. Still, dat coverage.
-I dont have much in the way of great switch-ins.
If you wanna test this team for yourself, here ya go.
