A long time ago in a galaxy far far away...
A stall team was born.
After enjoying M-Sableye's glorious utility, an evil Sith Lord decided to try new toys in a stall team. He hadn't tried Mega Venusaur, and its raw bulk, type and ability and appealed to him.
Green blob (Chansey) @ Eviolite
Ability: Natural Cure
Shiny: Yes
EVs: 4 HP / 252 Def / 252 SpD CHANGED TO 12 HP / 248 Def/248SpD
Bold Nature
- Toxic
- Seismic Toss
- Soft-Boiled
- Heal Bell
This is in all my stall teams. Here is the most evilSith Lady pokemon ever created. Classic set. It laughs at special hits and sometimes at physical ones too. Cures teammates status (specially burns) and annoys the rival with toxic. Seismic toss ensure it isnt taunt bait, and soft-boiled, for recovery. And remember this. Avoid getting hit by knock off. Avoid it. It makes it a weaker blissey, and we dont want that.
Pokerface (Quagsire) @ Leftovers
Ability: Unaware
EVs: 252 HP / 252 Def / 4 SpD
Relaxed Nature
- Scald
- Earthquake
- Recover
- Toxic
I tend to use an unaware pokemon in almost every stall team i make. Call me lazy if you wish, but it solves a lot of problems, and sweepers dont run rampant over my team with him. Scald to fish for the burn (specially against things like scizor), earthquake for a good Stab (scald is very weak and i won't be using it unless the opponent's pokemon wants a burn or is flying type), toxic(again) to annoy and recover for...recover(y). Evs for maximum physical walling capabilities. Dont underestimate it, it can be more than a stop to sweepers, its a good physical wall.
Flower power (Venusaur) @ Venusaurite
Ability: Chlorophyll
EVs: 252 HP / 252 Def / 4 SpD
Bold Nature
- Leech Seed
- Giga Drain
- Sludge Bomb
- Synthesis
He is the force made pokemon. It walls every physical threat that hasnt got super effective attacks or a boosting move. Leech seed is to annoy, get passive damage, and why not, a bit of recovery. Giga drain for grass stab, sludge bomb for poison stab, and why not, to fish for status. Synthesis for recovery. Apart from physical attacks, it tries to deal with manaphy (lacking psychic) before it destroys the team. The same can be said about serperior, but this one is also hurt by skarmory.
Margaret Thatcher (Skarmory) (F) @ Leftovers
Ability: Sturdy
EVs: 252 HP / 4 Def / 252 SpD
Careful Nature
- Roost
- Whirlwind
- Stealth Rock
- Brave Bird
Mixed wall, and the steel type every stall team should have. I am surprised at how good it works. It laughs at most neutral attacks, and it resists so many things...Roost for recovery, whirlwind to phaze those stupid set-up sweepers, stealth rock is self-explanatory, and brave bird because its a powerful stab and it helps me deal with serperior. I dont use spikes because I dont have a spinner and anyway...defog is so common.
Beware of Magnezone
Missingno's son (Mew) @ Leftovers
Ability: Synchronize
EVs:252 HP / 4 Def / 252 SpD CHANGED TO 252 HP/228SpD/32Sp
Careful Nature
- Knock Off
- Will-O-Wisp
- Soft-Boiled
- Defog
This little cat (its a cat isnt it) is a secondary special wall. It annoys so much by knocking off objects and burning (which makes him a good physical wall too). Soft boiled for recovery. Defog for...hazard removal. I use mew because its the only pokemon that can will'o'wisp and defog without being weak to rocks. Its basically role compression. It's a good answer to mega medicham too.
Thinner Chansey (Clefable) @ Life Orb
Ability: Magic Guard
EVs: 252 HP / 252 Def / 4 SpD
Bold Nature
- Soft-Boiled
- Moonblast
- Flamethrower
- Charge Beam
This spot was reserved to deal with other stall teams. Before the Gothitelle ban (May the force be with her) a trick goth was here, annoying so much. After that i had to look for a replacement. I had problems with m-sableye stall, and i needed an answer to that. Magic guard clefable was a good answer. Doesnt fear the burns (yes, somebody needs to help chansey at status absorbing). Evs for maximum physical bulk, moonblast for stab and to kill m-sab, soft boiled for recovery, flamethrower for those nasty steels (hi ferrothorn and scizor, I will see you in the switch-in). And in the last spot charge beam. Why? Because Stallbreaker talonflame is troublesome. I had nothing in the team for it. And Clefable tries to deal with it (I wish it could do better). Life orb is for the power with no drawbacks
I also tried heatran with magma storm, ancient power and taunt for this spot, but i am not sure. I like recovery so much.
I have also thought of trying:
-A swords dance roost edgequake gliscor instead of clefable to stallbreak, but I havent used it yet.
-A specially defensive talonflame with acrobatics, roost, taunt and bulk up, again to stallbreak.
If i ended up using one of those pokemon it would be in the place of clefable. Talonflame is looking good for me.
Problems
Hoopa U
Its a nightmare. Its movepool is too wide. It chooses its counters. Clefable fears gunk shot. Skarmory doesnt like Hyper Space Fury. Grass knot for quagsire. Let's not talk about chansey and drain punch. Psychic/psyshock for venusaur. And mew...we already talked about that. Luckily, its frail on the physical side.
Stallbreaker Talonflame
Despite Clefable's movepool, it can still be a problem, specially if paired up with unaware clefable.
Mega Pinsir
This stupid pokemon can destroy my team if skarmory is too weak to check it. It 2hkoes or ohkoes the rest of the team (quagsire is ohkoed too) as easily as if they were the death star.
Mega Charizards
The problem is: which one is it? Mew is chosen to lose half of its health to discover it. Outrage M-Char-X 2ohkoes quagsire according to what i have heard but...does somebody run that?
Mega Medicham
It used to be a bigger problem, with mew as the only counter, but hopefully clefable has improved this a bit. Still threatening tho.
Manaphy
Its a problem because it has a lot of sets. M-Venusaur usally stops it if it lacks psychic. Chansey is a good answer too, but beware...Rain dance Rest Tail Glow Scald, despite not being common, exists.
