reminder that, though this is said every time this comes up, this stuff happens all the time

but lol cheatriots amirite :^)

I don't think they're cheating here, I'm just amused that when it's the Patriots, it always seems to make the news.

If the patriots get to the superbowl it means everyone will start talking about deflategate again and I want that more than anything

The seething rage from the haters is just a bonus

Ugh, watching that Carolina game wasn't good for my heart. Too often we take the foot off the pedal, credit to the Seahawks for almost coming back. Cam said it himself, "It was a tale of two halves and we've got to be better than that."

But hey, Palmer may just choke next week, so there's that!

Of course the NFL appoints Ed Hochuli to be the ref of the AFC championship game.

Broncos are 7-0 with him in their last 7

Pats are 3-4.

Really worried about the officiating in this game

Really? Made excuse already? So in case you win, you can say you won despite him, and if you lose, you already have someone to blame. Nice one.

If he just asks his crew to start looking at all the holdings that Broncos D-Line suffers and nobody calls, then it'd already be great.

Another X factor will be Denver's run game versus New England's Defensive Line. During the regular season, Denver won because they got the ground game going. If they can't establish the run, it puts pressure on Manning which ,as we all know, isn't a good thing. If Denver's run game can't take off, New England's going to win. Period.

Brady has the quickest release in football (at least, from snap to throw) when they play that way. Broncos D-Line trying to get to him before then is the thing to watch.

in the other game I guess it's Arizona's #2/#3 receivers vs not Josh Norman? I don't think they'll be able to stop the Cards offense, and who knows which half from last week shows up on the Panthers offense.

Thats because New England didn't have Donta hightower or Jamie Collins

I'm fucking tired of this shit man.

Please talk about literally anything else.

Here let me start: X factor matchup Chris Harris jr vs Edelman. That matchup is going to be the most critical shit for Denver. What do you all think are some other big x-factor match ups?

Edelmen always smokes chris harris, and Harris has a bum shoulder so i'm not worried about that matchup.

IMO it's the opposite. His release is so fast that even the best DLines won't get there consistently. Broncos need their cornerbacks to lock down their guys for those 2-3 seconds without getting burnt too badly if the play happens to go on any longer. If they can't do that then it doesn't matter how good the D-Line plays.

I wouldn't worry about the refs this time. We have our best players back; it'll take some serious BS calls (like, to the point where it's obvious the game is being handed to Denver) to stop the Pats against them.

Do people honestly want to see another Manning choke job in the Super Bowl? Super Bowl 48 was horrendous and I don't want to watch another game like that again. That game was literally disgusting.

Josh Norman moves around. He won't be tailing Fitz because Fitz is primarily slot which is covered by Cortland Finnegan, who actually has been very good. I expect Luke will assign himself to giving extra coverage vs Fitz while Norman moves around on the outsides. Usually Harper and Coleman are there to back him up since we run so much Cover 2, a single man won't really be on the assignment.

The biggest mismatch is our DB#2 McClain who got signed a few weeks ago. He's matching vs Floyd / Brown and if it's the latter I expect him to be burned. But he was bearable vs the Seahawks.

The difference in this match up which I tend to prefer over seattle is that sure Arizona has "better receivers", but Seattle has Wilson. Wilson was sacked a lot. If we apply the same pressure, I expect that Carson Palmer will be running for his life a lot and in addition, he'll be forced into making mistakes. I think overall this match up is pretty solid. I think that in terms off team match up, Carolina matches up dangerously well versus the Cardinals.

If you look at the Cardinals 3 losses, two of the teams - Rams and Seattle play nearly identical to Carolina, with Carolina's advantage being "who the fuck is getting the ball" with all of the read options. Good defense, and a good running game. Arizona's defense will have it's hands full for sure. But I expect Arizona to come in with guns blazing as well, we tend to give up a lot of big plays and so we need to be wary of that.

Another thing to consider is Carolina has trouble with QBs who can get out of the pocket. With Palmer that threat isn't there, so there's that.

People also seem to believe we'll struggle with the fact that Arizona blitz the most in the NFL, but Newton actually plays very well when blitzed.

Losing Jared Allen would be a big blow, if he can't go. He's been playing with a foot injury recently, but he's had his best games of the season in the last two games. Ealy and Addison show flashes, but they aren't as complete as Allen.

Super Bowl 48 was horrendous
You take that back SB48 is the best SB there ever was and I'd watch the Seahawks blow out each AFC team in kind for the next 15 years quite happily.

incoming pretzels post:

but that's OUR thing, WE'RE the only ones who can go to so many superbowls, being dominant is what WE do, not you, why is the nfl so against us why can someone else be that good wahhh wahhh wahhh

It's 1 there but that doesn't change the fact the NE game started at 4 yesterday. Why was that not kept today? It's a dick move to start a playoff game so early with a West coast team involved. They only play 2 games total today there's no reason for it. Cause there's either a gap before Sunday nights time slot or no Sunday night game. Dumb.

Also wtf is wrong with Carolinas field? I played on less slippery fields in rec soccer in the winter. How embarrassing.

If people want to say the NFL is rigged they can point to that throw. It was going to the Panthers dude the whole time.

Absolutely unreal. Wilson wtf are you getting paid for? I don't care the NFL wants you to lose for their narrative STOP.

Im not sure if it was answered Yeti, since you made the comment during the game. But our field was used for the Bowl game and it wasn't given enough time to set. In addition it was snowing / raining for about 5 hours before the game began so it was really just unfortunate field conditions in general.

k that makes sense cause the way people on both sides were slipping looked like it was a muddy grass field. always a #blessed game when your cleats just couldn't dig into the grass cause the grass was so torn up from use and rain. i don't know if carolina's field is a dome or not and i'm gonna assume it's open since >the south it just looked super sloppy for a playoff game field. frkin mud always made the car so dirty after too >:(

do i really need to contradict Pretzels idiot post :\ i guess so

1. regarding start time, yeah, it is inconvenient for west coast fans to have to be up and ready to watch by 10? do you see east coast fans ever having to be up at 10 for their games? aside from the london games i think those start early. i don't get what your point in even calling that out is except your idiot, pathetic east coast bias thinking the entire rest of the country doesn't exist. the 1pm pst start time is fine, that's 4pm est so it's a fair time for everyone to watch. lets you do whatever religious thing or sleep in then get up to watch the shenanigans.
i don't get how you can even compare preemptive "this ref is denver biased we're gonna lose cause the ref somehow makes enough calls to give the win to denver" whining with "this is actually an inconvenient time" after the time is assigned?
the seahawks apparently have 0 points in 10am first half playoff starts. they suck the first half usually anyway and idk how much is actually attributable to the earlier start time but it's an interesting factoid.
you get ppl being all "i dont get jet lag over 3 hours its not real" but sleep cycles ARE a real thing. even if the seahawks tried to adjust their cycles to east coast time while in washington you still have to make sure you manage the light cycles for that and there are psychological impacts of having skewed wake-up times. the 'normal' sleep cycle for an adult is 10pm to 6am so that's playing 4 hours after when you feel you're supposed to wake up versus playing 7 hours after. and if they wake up at 6am on the east coast that's 3am to their native cycles.
i don't blame their loss/performance on the early start time that much but there's reason to believe it could be a factor and that still doesn't change the fact it's a crappy start time for the west coast that east coast fans NEVER deal with.

2. lol do you think field condition isn't a valid concern? for both teams? it would impact the panthers' play too. it looked like more seahawks players spun out and carolina probably knew what cleats to have on to start but i saw some of their players slip as well. it's dumb to not be able to watch good plays cause people can't get any traction on the field and when a field is that slick/muddy wew lads.

3. you can skew a critique of how dreadful that throw was however you like, and with your victim complex you have proven to be most proficient at skewing reality to support your narrative.
"that throw was so bad and so off it must have been intended to be such" is pretty clearly the meaning there not an actual conspiracy theory. but, i can understand why you project your own twisted vision of the facts :^)

finally, use your own team's memes and trollpics. about the only ones you can use against us are heartbrokensherman and cryingwilson i think there's a crushedpete too, not our top kek ones like that.
proper use of team's imagery against them to display my dissatisfaction with your projection issues:
