[AG] Latias

DoW

formally Death on Wings
[OVERVIEW]

While Latias isn't commonly used, it has a niche in AG thanks to its typing, ability, and Soul Dew, allowing it to check Primal Groudon and Kyogre as well as beat Adamant Mega Rayquaza one-on-one and threaten weakened Extreme Killer Arceus. Its ability to wall common Stealth Rock setters such as Primal Groudon and Water Arceus makes it a useful Defogger. Because of this, Pokemon such as Ho-Oh and Yveltal appreciate the support it provides.

However, Latias loses to a large number of Pokemon including Darkrai, Klefki, support Arceus, Ho-Oh, and Yveltal. Moreover, it often gives Pokemon a free turn, which can give Darkrai or Klefki a free Substitute, allow Xerneas to use Geomancy, or let Arceus get a Swords Dance or Calm Mind off, especially after Latias has used Draco Meteor. Latias also faces tough competition from Pokemon such as Dragon Arceus and Water Arceus, both of which boast access to Defog alongside similar bulk and resistances. It should be noted that they aren't entirely similar, though, as Arceus has better Speed and Defense, while Latias offers better utility and offensive options. Latios also offers some competition; however, Latias's higher special bulk is generally more useful than Latios's stronger offensive stats.

Moves
========

Defog is necessary to remove entry hazards and support Latias's teammates, allowing Pokemon like Ho-Oh and Mega Rayquaza to come in easily. Recover keeps Latias healthy enough to effectively check Pokemon such as Primal Groudon that could otherwise wear it down over time. Draco Meteor is the main offensive move for Latias to use. However, the Special Attack drop it causes alongside the fact that it is walled by Xerneas, Ho-Oh, and offensive Arceus makes it far from perfect. Psyshock allows Latias to hit the aforementioned Pokemon reasonably well, while Grass Knot can be run over Psyshock to hit Primal Groudon, Primal Kyogre, and some Arceus formes such as Ground Arceus harder.

Set Details
========

Soul Dew makes Latias usable, as it boosts both its Special Attack and Special Defense. Levitate allows Latias to reliably check Primal Groudon despite its attacks mostly targeting Latias's weaker Defense stat. 176 Speed EVs with a Timid nature let Latias outspeed Adamant Mega Rayquaza, allowing it to be taken out with a Draco Meteor before it gets any boosts. 196 HP EVs allow Latias to avoid the 2HKO from Primal Kyogre's Ice Beam, and bulk is generally useful against a number of Pokemon such as Ho-Oh and Arceus. The remaining EVs are placed into Special Attack, allowing Latias to hit targets as hard as possible with Draco Meteor.

Usage Tips
========

While Latias offers a reasonable amount of firepower, its first priority is to support the team with Defog. Keeping Stealth Rock off the field is often more important than weakening a foe, so if in doubt, use Defog over another move. It's also often worthwhile to recover health rather than simply attack, as otherwise Latias can be worn down relatively easily by the Pokemon it's supposed to check. Be wary of letting Latias become setup bait for the opponent—try to use Psyshock over Draco Meteor if it would do enough damage, and avoid letting Pokemon such as Xerneas, Klefki, and Darkrai switch in on attacks they're immune to. Draco Meteor can be very useful for making holes in an opposing team so that another Pokemon can sweep, so don't be afraid to sacrifice Latias to make a dent in something important.

Team Options
========

Latias fits best on bulky offense teams that require a Defogger to work well, as its offensive pressure can allow it to use Defog with less loss of momentum than other hazard removers. Good teammates include Pokemon weak to Stealth Rock such as Ho-Oh, Mega Rayquaza, and Yveltal. Teams with Latias appreciate a solid Stealth Rock setter, as many Pokemon that check Latias such as Ho-Oh and Yveltal dislike Stealth Rock. However, the setter needs to be able to come in multiple times, as Latias will remove Stealth Rock from both sides of the field, so avoid setters like Deoxys formes. Latias appreciates a solid core to support it in order to deal with the Pokemon that gain free turns from coming in on it. Pokemon such as Ho-Oh and Primal Groudon are good options. Checks to Pokemon such as Klefki, Bronzong, Ferrothorn, and other Steel-types that completely wall Latias are also needed. Finally, checks to setup sweepers such as Swords Dance Arceus, Calm Mind Arceus, Darkrai, and Xerneas are required due to Latias being relatively easy to use as setup bait.

[STRATEGY COMMENTS]
Other Options
=============

Dragon Pulse might seem like an appealing option over Draco Meteor in order to avoid the Special Attack drop; however, it isn't worth the lower damage output. A Calm Mind set is rarely worthwhile due to the abundance of checks and counters to Latias in the tier such as Darkrai and Klefki. Also, Latios provides tough competition for this kind of set. Latias can run Healing Wish to support its teammates; however, it struggles to fit the move into its moveset without becoming setup bait. Thunder Wave and Roar can be used to try to prevent Latias from being setup bait, though the reliable damage from Psyshock is generally more worthwhile. Toxic can be used to wear Pokemon down while also coming in handy against stall. However, having a reliable STAB move that gives Latias the ability to hit both physically and specially are more useful in the vast majority of situations. Hidden Power Fire can be run for Steel-types such as Klefki and Ferrothorn; however, it's very weak—for example, specially defensive Klefki avoids being 2HKOed. Moves such as Tailwind, Wish, Light Screen, and Reflect might sound useful for the team; however, the moveslots are generally better used for other moves. Refresh can be used to deal with burns from Scald and Lava Plume to better check Primal Groudon and Kyogre, but neither will 2HKO even with burn damage and it probably wouldn't be worth the moveslot even if they did. Finally, Magic Coat might sound good for use against more passive Pokemon, though the moveslot is better used on an offensive move, as otherwise Latias will become too passive itself.

Checks and Counters
===================

**Steel-types**: Klefki, Ferrothorn, Genesect, and Mega Scizor all wall Latias, while Dialga also functions as a check. All of these use the free turn Latias gives them very well — for example, Genesect and Mega Scizor can both pivot out with U-turn against whatever Pokemon is brought in, while Dialga can set up Stealth Rock.

**Setup Sweepers**: Multiple Pokemon such as Swords Dance or Calm Mind Arceus happily set up on Latias, especially after it has used Draco Meteor.

**Fairy-types**: Fairy-types are immune to Draco Meteor and use Latias as setup bait. Xerneas and Fairy Arceus can set up on it, with Arceus and Choice Scarf Xerneas being faster as well. Klefki easily beats Latias, and Mega Diancie is faster (although it is 2HKOed by Psyshock with Moonblast only 2HKOing in return); Clefable also hard counters Latias.

**Dark-types**: While Yveltal and Darkrai dislike switching in on Draco Meteor, they can easily come in on Psyshock and beat Latias one-on-one. It's also worth noting they're very common and gain momentum every time they come in on Latias, so Latias needs to play around them carefully.

**Support Arceus**: Certain support Arceus variants such as Normal Arceus and Ghost Arceus can wall Latias, while also being able to set up Stealth Rock, although many can't deal much damage back without Toxic.

**Ho-Oh and Lugia**: Lugia completely walls Latias and can toxic stall it in return. Ho-Oh can check Latias with Stealth Rock up and counter Latias otherwise; however, be warned that Latias's attacks will do almost 50% to Ho-Oh while Ho-Oh rarely OHKOes in return with Brave Bird.

This needs a ton of work. Not a full stamp, implement this and tag me again Articuno I or hmu on discord if you have more questions. One thing I will say is, aside from issues in the analysis, a lot of the issues feel like they stem from you throwing in random fluff that makes informational points more confusing. A great example is
**Dark-types** - While Yveltal and Darkrai dislike switching in on Draco Meteor, they can easily come in on Psyshock and beat it 1v1, while both are also very common pokemon.
This just adds nothing to your points, and takes the place of meaningful points like "darkrai is faster and can sleep u and set up subs" or "defensive yveltal dies to draco after rocks so not gr8 counter but lati doesnt like sucker and is OHKOd by offensive" or any useful points like that. You're really focused on talking about specific scenarios, damage rolls, or other random points and this analysis is incredibly lacking in any sort of specifics or information that you wouldnt know from simply theorymonning about lati without actually using it

Overview
Latias checks things like the primals thanks to natural bulk+soul dew, typing, and ability. It just sounds like you're ignoring those in favor of just soul dew being relevant
The second bullet provide much information about the actual mon, I don't see a reason to have it. Also you don't reliably beat Lum Ekiller
Loses to these mons how? The overview should go over what this mon is and how it does, you don't want to be so vague it's confusing because it "beats a lot of things 1v1" but "loses to plenty of threats 1v1"
Why does it face competition from those support arc formes? Specify they have the speed and physical bulk and lati has the utility and offense.
Last bullet provides nothing
You need to mention how its main drawback is being generally weak to physical attackers so teams can often just bust through it, being a waste of space versus arceus spam, and expanding on how many common threats like Klefki and Darkrai give it massive troubles

Moves
Yes, ok, but what does Defog actually do?
Talk about being wary of SpA drop from draco in UT, not moves. At most just give a quick "although it has the drawback of blah" or something
Psyshock is really just reliable stab, you make it sound more complicated than it is
GK doesn't hit them more reliably than psyshock, it just does more
Move toxic to other options, it's really poor

Set Details
Yes, ok, but what does Soul Dew actually do?
Remove mentions of alternative speed spreads, they only go in SD if they're important/good enough to be mentioned here and not in OO and they're not good
Not the place to mention using lati over arc dragon. Also using over dragonceus is part offenses, part better vs things like ogre with soul dew bulk and don w/levitate

Usage Tips
The first bullet is so vague and confusing I'm not quite sure what you mean. I think it's supposed to be something about having a faster roost than things like the primals but this makes no sense and isn't expanded to provide help. If it's something else important let me know, but otherwise remove
Don't just be wary of using draco when shock would do enough, be wary in general to not be total setup fodder
The last usage tip also straight up doesn't make any sense
Say something about defogging, say something about how lati needs to use its time wisely as it's easily pressured by common offensive mons, say something about keeping it healthy to take on shit like primals or survive Mray Espeed, say something about what you can switch into and beat (mostly primals)

Team Options
I'd change "fits well on BO" to "fits best on BO", the line only has importance when you're specifying that's the main time you want to use it
Just remove the second bullet, this is not something that belongs here as it doesn't actually provide anything useful to somebody and in general doesn't fit in an analysis
In the third bullet, the first half is totally ok but the second half is really vague and makes no sense. either remove it or specify what you're talking about bc I don't get it
The fourth bullet is, again, really weird and I'm not sure what it's telling me. I suppose it's suggesting some kind of balanced rock setter, but that's only ok if you say something about a SR setter being useful for wearing down lati checks like hooh and yveltal and remove or clarify the sui lead stuff
I just don't think latias needs pivot support, a good BO backbone is naturally going to support it but hooh does that for everything, genesect sucks, and there's nothing else really
Make it clear that you're using this on teams that need support to handle the primals, that's basically the quintessential "I want to use this bc primal switch", mention darkrai checks, mention ekiller checks, mention CM arc checks, think about some more bc that's what I got off the top of my head

OO
Mention how Latios does CM better
Don't mention HP rock, just give something brief about HP fire for keys and skarm
Refresh needs something because you handle plume/scald Pdon/Pogre better
Move toxic here. Don't bother with the other spreads, not beating ada ray is ass

C&C
The fairy one is written odd, just avoid fluff in C&C (wherever possible really but especially here). Mention how xern can set up and scarf is faster, how diancie is faster, how keys can pivot into any move thanks to psyshock resist and para, fairyceus is faster and can set up with CM, if it's too long don't mention clefable since far less relevant/sucky, and how xern/diancie don't like taking psyshock. Basically this provides no relevant information about how they actually check/counter latias. Also don't specify SR diancie/clef as neither are particularly good sets (not rly sure what you run on clef since it sucks but defo don't go out of your way to talk about rocks diancie)
"while both are also very common Pokemon" remove this and expand on your points
Don't mention offensive arceus in a section talking about support arceus, it just distracts from the point. Remove the SR bullshit and talk about common support forms, how they can easily wall latias, eventually beat it with status, but don't bother mentioning calm minding bc you will in a diff section (see below)
Don't mention HP fire since it's just OO, expand on points more and talk about lati being walled/set up on by skarm/keys/scizor/genesect and checked by dialga. basically you only talk about 2 of them and go too far in depth instead of giving concise, useful information about the relevant ones
Instead of special walls and hooh, just make one section for hooh+lugia (chansey sucks and doesn't need mention, blissey is the better mon but does take more from psyshock plus neither are relevant enough). Rewrite the hooh section since it really just talks about one specific scenario of stuff rather than giving a concise description of how hooh actually checks lati
ik C&C is long already but you need a section for setup sweepers that goes over ekiller, ghostceus, ray, CM arc formes (and not in the support arc formes section), etc.
Since C&C is ordered by threat level, I suggest the following order
Steels / Setup Sweepers / Fairies / Darks / Support arc formes / hooh and lugia

Sorry it's taken me a while, and sorry it's badly done. There's a reason I picked latias over something more important when I'm this busy with work x_x
Still hopefully this is decent enough, I had a few things to bring up:
The second bullet provide much information about the actual mon, I don't see a reason to have it. Also you don't reliably beat Lum Ekiller
Espeed from Jolly Lum Ekiller doesn't 2HKO, and has a 16% chance to 2HKO after SR. Psyshock followed by Draco with the given EVs has a 69.1% chance to KO 4HP neutral arc formes (without rocks). Meanwhile, even if Arc is carrying Shadow Claw, that's only a 41% chance to 2HKO, meaning Latias still has a respectable (if sub-50%) chance to win. Sorry if I'm making a big point of it, but I think the fact that it can beat lum ekiller and adamant ray 1v1 is pretty big in the current metagame, especially given that without that offensive power there'd be little reason to run it over arc-dragon.
I changed the wording a little to reflect that it's a few key pokemon that it beats as such, rather than a very significant number of them.
"while both are also very common Pokemon" remove this and expand on your points
TBH I think this is a significant point, they're not particularly solid counters given they dislike Draco but the fact they're everywhere and just gain momentum from latias is the reason they're so high up on the list. I can take it out, but IIRC the checks & counters section should still be aimed primarily at players using the mon rather than players hoping to beat it (correct me if I'm wrong), in which case it's an important piece of information to bear in mind.
Rewrite the hooh section since it really just talks about one specific scenario of stuff rather than giving a concise description of how hooh actually checks lati
TBH I don't know what to write for this one, given if the Latias player predicts it to come in you get a double down nine times out of ten. Should I just put that it's a check rather than an extremely shakey counter?

1. 252 Atk Arceus Shadow Claw vs. 192 HP / 0 Def Latias: 158-188 (45.2 - 53.8%) -- guaranteed 2HKO after Stealth Rock
+2 252 Atk Arceus Extreme Speed vs. 192 HP / 0 Def Latias: 270-318 (77.3 - 91.1%) -- 25% chance to OHKO after Stealth Rock
+2 252 Atk Arceus Shadow Claw vs. 192 HP / 0 Def Latias: 316-372 (90.5 - 106.5%) -- guaranteed OHKO after Stealth Rock
And lati isn't even a difficult mon to chip seeing as its job is switching into two primals. Saying it can beat Ekiler is extremely situational and too misleading to belong here. Beating ray is nice, but its arceus matchup isn't one I'd call good.
2. While both are also common Pokemon is a bad line because it's not actually talking about Latias. It's filler fluff which is what the analysis had a lot of. It's not straight up bad but there should be no reason to actually say this.
3. With Ho-Oh I just mean that it should say something along the lines of "Ho-Oh can pivot into draco and CB BB nukes this but psyshock after rocks donks it" so yeah it's a check not a counter

Overview
Give examples of the common SR users it beats 1v1
Specify what latios does over latias
Moves
I get how you're trying to hammer home how each move is essential, but they're already on the set. This should be clear, there's too much "theres no reason to use lati without this move" stuff
Grass knot hits these mons harder than what? Also specify it's really about good neutral coverage
You put toxic in OO but forgot to remove it from here

UT
There's no mention of actually using defog here
Talk about how you need to keep lati at high health to keep switching into don/ogre/two/whatever so you want to recover a lot

Team Options
Things that beat CM Arc formes which set up on latias

Other Options
Screens should be light screen and reflect (there's a ton of cases like this where you abbreviate like xern and ekiller, gp will have you expand this anyway but you could do it now)

C&C
Steel types is still way too short and doesnt tell me anything about how they affect this mon. The others aren't much better, I'd stamp lati now but C&C is just so bare bones you're going to need to fill it out more first. take a look at the ubers analysis or other analyses in general if it will help.
Articuno I

Sorry, I completely forgot about this.

In any case, I've updated it now, I think I did everything you recommended other than the changes GP will pick up on (I'll do those when I write it up), hopefully it's better now.

you can fix the spacing in C&C but otherwise looks good

Articuno I the title has been changed to 1/3 and C&C edited for you. HunterStorm Zangooser Gunner Rohan yelawolf could you guys check this sometime

edit: also Latias doesn't learn Taunt?
Rip, I have no idea what was going on there.
The reason I didn't update it (at first, at least) was that I wrote it while horrendously tired and I'm p. sure the quality is far lower than it should be, see: Taunt. I've got (slightly) more time now though, so I'll hopefully have another look over and fix it up somewhat. QC guys helping with that is still welcome though.

Overview
It can also be setup bait, for example giving Darkrai or Klefki a free Sub as it switches out, and letting GeoXern set up, as well as Swords Dance / Calm Mind Arceus after a -2 drop from Draco Meteor.

Moves
========

Draco Meteor is the main offensive move to use most of the time, as in general it hits things hard, although the SpA drop and the fact it's walled by mons like Xerneas, Ho-Oh and Swords Dance / Calm Mind Arceus make it far from perfect.

Set Details
========

192 HP EVs allow Latias to avoid the 2HKO from 252+ Primal Kyogre's Ice Beam, while the bulk is generally useful against a large number of pokemon such as Ho-Oh and Extreme Killer Arceus.

Team Options
Pokemon that are weak to Stealth Rock such as Ho-Oh, Mega Rayquaza and Yveltal appreciate Latias.
I'm not sure how I feel about this statement. While Latias might provide Defog support, it doesn't in mean that Stealth Rock weak mons have absolute liberty. The hazard game will always continue, Latias will only provide utility. It doesn't guarantee any hazards off the field. I think this statement should be removed.

  • Checks to pokemon such as Klefki, Bronzong, Ferrothorn & other steel types which completely wall Latias.
  • Checks to setup sweepers such as SD / CM Arceus formes, Darkrai and Xerneas are also needed, due to Latias being relatively easy to use as setup bait.
As much as I dislike Latias in AG, this analysis is well written. Good job.

Oh, this is the analysis I forgot about. Oops.

Set:
- I really believe Grass Knot should be slashed with Psyshock, especially as Latias's main role within the metagame is to be an efficient support role and reliable hazard removal against both primals.

Set Details:
- Levitate allows Latias to be an efficient answer to Primal Groudon despite its attacks mostly targetting Latias's weaker defensive stat.
- Worth a mention even though it's mostly common sense.

// The reason for this (Don't Add This Point): Overall while Grass Knot makes it more vulnerable to Ho-Oh, it just has so much overall utility in hitting Water Arceus, Rock Arceus, Ground Arceus, Kyogre, Primal Groudon (without receiving drop).

C&C:
- The Grass Knot implementation means that this point needs alteration:
- "**Support Arceus Formes** - Bulkier Arceus sets such as Water or Rock support sets can wall Latias, while also being able to set rocks, although they generally can't deal much damage back without toxic."
- 140 SpA Soul Dew Latias Grass Knot (120 BP) vs. 252 HP / 0 SpD Arceus-Water: 272-322 (61.2 - 72.5%) -- guaranteed 2HKO
- You could change it to alternate formes not listed there as types that beat it, such as Ghost Arceus.

I mean it's a Latias, there isn't much to say really, you covered most of it.

Checks and Counters
===================

**Steel-types**: (colon) - implement this on other ones ok Klefki, Ferrothorn, Genesect, (AC) and Mega Scizor all wall Latias, while Dialga also functions as a check. All of these use the free turn Latias gives them very well, for example Genesect and Mega Scizor U-turn against whatever you bring in while Dialga can set up Stealth Rock rocks.

**Setup Sweepers** - Especially after using Draco Meteor, multiple Pokemon such as SD or CM Arceus formes Swords Dance or Calm Mind Arceus happily set up on Latias.

**Fairy-types** - In general, they're Fairy-types are immune to Draco Meteor and use it as setup bait. Xerneas and Fairy Arceus can set up on it, with Arceus and Choice Scarf Xerneas being faster as well. Klefki easily beats it Latias, and Mega Diancie is faster (although 2HKOed by Psyshock with Moonblast only 2HKOing in return); (SC) Clefable also hard counters Latias.

**Dark-types** - While Yveltal and Darkrai dislike switching in on Draco Meteor, they can easily come in on Psyshock and beat it 1v1 Latias one-on-one. It's also worth noting they're very common and gain momentum every time they come in on Latias, so should be played around carefully.

**Support Arceus Formes** - Bulkier Arceus sets such as Normal and Ghost support sets can wall Latias, while also being able to set up Stealth Rock rocks, although many can't deal much damage back without Toxic.

**Ho-Oh and Lugia** - Lugia completely walls Latias and can toxic stall it in return. Ho-Oh can check Latias with Stealth Rock rocks up and counter Latias otherwise if no rocks, however be warned that Latias's attacks will do almost 50% while Ho-Oh rarely OHKOes in return with Brave Bird.

I made some rewording changes in some instances to make the sentence flow better.
[OVERVIEW]
While Latias isn't commonly used, it has a niche in AG due thanks to its typing, ability, and Soul Dew, (AC) allowing it to check Primal Groudon and Kyogre (RC) while also beating as well as beat Adamant Mega Rayquaza one-on-one and threatening threaten weakened Extreme Killer Arceus. Its ability to wall common Stealth Rock setters such as Primal Groudon and Water Arceus-Water makes it a useful Defogger. Because of this, Pokemon such as Ho-Oh and Yveltal appreciate the support it provides.

However, Latias loses to a large number of Pokemon including Darkrai, Klefki, support Arceus, Ho-Oh, and Yveltal. Moreover, it often gives Pokemon a free turn, which can give Darkrai or Klefki a free Substitute, allow Xerneas to use Geomancy, (AC) or let Arceus get a Swords Dance or Calm Mind off, especially after Latias has used Draco Meteor. Latias also faces tough competition from Pokemon such as Dragon Arceus-Dragon (RH) and Water Arceus-Water, (RH) both of which boast access to Defog alongside similar bulk and resistances. It should be noted that they aren't entirely similar, (AC) though, as Arceus has better Speed and physical Defense, (AC) while Latias offers better utility and offensive options. Latios also offers some competition; (SC) however, (AC) Latias's higher special bulk is generally more useful than Latios's stronger offensive stats.

Moves
========
However, note that the Special Attack drop it causes, alongside being walled by Pokemon such as Xerneas, Ho-Oh, and offensive Arceus make it far from perfect. However, the Special Attack drop it causes alongside the fact that it is walled by Pokemon such as Xerneas, Ho-Oh, and offensive Arceus makes it far from perfect. Psyshock allows Latias to hit the aforementioned Pokemon mentioned above reasonably well, while Grass Knot can be run over Psyshock to hit Primal Groudon, Primal Kyogre, and some Arceus formes such as Ground Arceus harder.

Set Details
========
Soul Dew makes Latias usable, as it boosts both its Special Attack and Special Defense 1.5x. Levitate allows Latias to reliably check Primal Groudon despite its attacks mostly targeting Latias's weaker Defense stat. 176 Speed EVs with a Timid nature allow let Latias to outspeed Adamant Mega Rayquaza, allowing it to be taken out with a Draco Meteor before it gets any boosts. 196 HP EVs allow Latias to avoid the 2HKO from Primal Kyogre's Ice Beam, and bulk is generally useful against a number of Pokemon such as Ho-Oh and Arceus. The remaining EVs are invested placed into Special Attack, allowing Latias to hit targets as hard as possible with Draco Meteor.

Usage Tips
========
While Latias offers a reasonable amount of firepower, its first priority is to support the team with Defog. Keeping Stealth Rock off the field is often more important than weakening a foe an opponent, so if it in doubt, (AC) use Defog over another move. With that said, Draco Meteor can be very useful for making holes in an opposing team so that another Pokemon can sweep, so don't be afraid to sack sacrifice Latias to make a dent in something important.

Team Options
========
Latias appreciates a solid core to support it (RC) in order to deal with the Pokemon that gain free turns from coming in on it. Pokemon such as Ho-Oh and Primal Groudon are good options. Checks to Pokemon such as Klefki, Bronzong, Ferrothorn, and other Steel-types which that completely wall Latias are also needed. Finally, checks to setup sweepers such as Swords Dance Arceus, Calm Mind Arceus, Darkrai, and Xerneas are required (RC) due to Latias being relatively easy to use as setup bait.

Other Options
=============

Dragon Pulse might seem like an appealing option over Draco Meteor in order to avoid the Special Attack drop; (SC) however, (AC) it isn't worth the lower damage output. A Calm Mind set is rarely worthwhile due to the abundance of checks and counters to Latias in the tier such as Darkrai and Klefki. Also, Latios provides tough competition for this kind of set. Latias can run Healing Wish to support its teammates; (SC) however, (AC) it struggles to fit the move into its moveset without becoming setup bait. Thunder Wave and Roar can be used to try to prevent Latias from being setup bait, however though the reliable damage from Psyshock is generally more worthwhile. Toxic can be used to wear Pokemon down while also coming in handy against stall. However, having a reliable STAB move and that gives Latias the ability to hit both physically and specially are is more useful in the vast majority of situations. Hidden Power Fire can be run for Steel-types such as Klefki and Ferrothorn; (SC) however, (AC) it's very weak—for example, specially defensive Klefki avoids being 2HKOed. Moves such as Tailwind, Wish, or Light Screen, (AC) and Reflect might sound useful for the team; (SC) however, (AC) the moveslots are generally better used for other moves. Refresh can be used to deal with burns from Scald and Lava Plume to better check Primal Groudon and Kyogre, however but neither will 2HKO even with burn damage and it probably wouldn't be worth the moveslot even if they did. Finally, Magic Coat might sound good for use against more passive Pokemon, however though the the moveslot is better used on an offensive move moveslots are better used on offensive moves, (AC) as otherwise Latias will become too passive itself.

Checks and Counters
===================

**Steel-types**: Klefki, Ferrothorn, Genesect, and Mega Scizor all wall Latias, while Dialga also functions as a check. All of these use the free turn Latias gives them very well (RC) — for example, (AC) Genesect and Mega Scizor can both pivot out with U-turn (most of the times you mustn't use moves as verbs, not too sure if U-turn is an exception) against whatever Pokemon is brought in you bring in, (AC) while Dialga can set up Stealth Rock.

**Setup Sweepers**: Especially after using Draco Meteor, multiple Pokemon such as Swords Dance or Calm Mind Arceus happily set up on Latias. Multiple Pokemon such as Swords Dance or Calm Mind Arceus happily set up on Latias, especially after it has used Draco Meteor.
