he said unwind to, not get off to

also I'd be playing Fates atm if it wasn't for the fact that I'm a massive weeb and don't want to play it without the JP voices, I'll probably try and hack my 3DS to go region free at some point or wait until a 3DS emulator happens

I, uhh, might be able to help people find the file they would want if they perhaps were interested in playing the English release with Japanese voices.

Meanwhile the PAL regions still lack a release date...

Speaking of JRPGs, the PAL release of Inazuma Eleven Go: Galaxy comes around later this year (although we also lack a release date for that... figures) and I'm psyched for it.

On another note, does anyone have any recommendations for a free game which is good to unwind to?

hearthstone. if you dont believe me, feel free to ask mre.

whenever i try playing Hearthstone online, it doesn't work for me. I make an account and then i log in and then it doesn't work and i put in exactly the same password and username. I then continue to make 4 more accounts...still doesn't work. Facepalm.

So I got a new computer(thank goodness) and I was wondering what would be some good computer games I could get that are easy to get into? Now my family would not be happy if I got a game that was violent so stay away from that. But what would be good suggestions for me to get?

Ori and the Blind Forest is a pretty great platformer. It's beautiful, has great music, and is pretty brutal. So brutal I have yet to finish the game. You don't need a control to play the game, a keyboard works just as well.

Subnautica is an early access alien ocean world survival game that I've had a lot of fun with. It's great for those who like exploration games.

The new Paper Mario game was confirmed to exist in the Direct. It looks like it's going to follow in the footsteps of Sticker Star while simultaneously ripping off De Blob, so it'll probably be shit.

Also, the Direct.

New Kirby game hype.

Unlike most people, I think the Paper Mario game will end up being pretty decent. IS will most likely fix some of the larger issues pertaining to Sticker Star in this game as they did in FE Fates to make the gameplay more enjoyable. It has a pretty nice art style as well. Biggest issue with the game so far seems to be that it looks barren as hell, which will mostly be fixed in the final release.

As much as I believe that Paper Mario should be idealistically a non-rpg pandering to casuals as a gimmick based off of a storybook, allowing for more themes to be explored, I still can't shake the feeling of wanting another TTYD which at this point we can mostly agree will not be happening. What I do hope is that the Mario and Luigi series will stop going down the shitter in terms of writing and that we get an actually decent RPG game with an actually decent story ala TTYD. TTYD actually made an effort beyond Paper Mario 64 to make an interesting story, and even the original PM was interesting because of how the kidnapping of the princess + the star collecting gimmick were implemented. Paper Jam from what I heard had an interesting battle system, but was lacking in the story department. I didn't even touch Dream Team because of how lame it looked. I tried to beat Inside Story and despite people raving about how it was the best M&L game in the series, I just didn't feel like it had the same authentic feeling that Superstar Saga did. I will concede that Inside Story was well made though, and so I won't diss it as it's more of a personal issue I had with the game. I think if Nintendo could just get their shit together, which with the latest Direct we've seen: they are not, they could actually produce a solid Mario rpg.

As for the latest Direct, I didn't see any games that piqued my interest asides from BD:SL and the SNES stuff. I really, really, really, really, really wish we could get another Advance Wars game, but the chances of that happening is so low that I feel like I'm better off believing that Goku will be added to Smash Bros. 3DS/WiiU as a surprise troll/come-back DLC in 2017.

In the end, we can just wish for things to happen and even voice these wishes to Nintendo, but Nintendo will do their own shit and we'll just sit there with our jaws dropping further and further in disbelief (whether it be for good reasons - Xenoblade Chronicles X and Splatoon - or bad - Federation Force).

Alternatively we can just bug them very loudly that we're interested in the TTYD-esque tech demo for 3ds that ultimately became Sticker Star.

I want to have hope but the new Paper Mario looks really gimmick-focused, so I'm not expecting much.

New Kirby actually sounds kind of neat, switching between regular Kirby and robot that can still use powers seems like a nice way to add some variety.

Just picked up Twilight Princess HD, so I've been replaying that game. I've never really liked controlling Epona in my multiple playthroughs of OoT/MM/TP and I still don't. Wolf Link, as with every other Link transformation, is bomb though. Noticed serious frame drops just from playing normally in Faron Woods, which is disappointing for the Wii U.

I finished Bravely Second recently (since it came out at the end of February here in Europe), have some thoughts but I'll spoiler it all just in case:

Overall, really enjoyed the story. It was a little short, but it was far less repetitive than its predecessor while keeping just as much character development from both the protagonist and antagonist's sides. There were some nice twists (which I won't go into here) and references here and there that were pretty cool.
Mechanics-wise, the actual battle system itself is mostly unchanged but there are some nice touches here and there: being able to chain battles REALLY helps with grinding early on, and being able to set multiple autobattle move sequences is pretty handy too. I'm also glad that they added in the option to set favourite party setups as well. Oh, and the new jobs/asterisks are pretty interesting, although some of them do outclass each other to the point of them not being worth using (new job spoiler) -
Bishop over White Mage is an example of this, or Astrologian over Performer.
My only issue with the game is that character bios for non-boss enemies were removed from the diary. I get that a lot more effort was put into the bestiary this time around, but I don't understand why they removed that feature when it helped to get some insight into the backgrounds of the more minor characters who aren't necessarily battled during the story. But oh well, that's just a personal gripe, the rest of the game improves on BD in almost every way. That said, the OST is a slight letdown, but that's to be expected given how good Revo's work was previously.

Now to wait until the end of May for Fates to come out...

The Necron Overlord is being released for Dawn Of War II: The Last Stand today too :) Free for the next few days and then you have to pay for it there after if you do not add it to your account.

First bit of DLC for that mode for aaaaaaaaages in terms of characters, I think the last was 2011 or something. Nice to see another Hero unit coming in after how successful the Tau Commander was. Can't wait to play a few games tonight!

Is the Wii U worth a buy? I stumbled across the Xenoblades Chronicles X soundtrack and can't stop listening to it. I'd also be interested in getting Tokyo Mirage Sessions #FE whenever it comes out. How good is its current RPG library, and what are its most noteworthy games?

I think any console is worth a buy if there is a decent library of games you want to play. I'm not sure what the RPG library is like on the Wii U, but there are a lot of good non-RPGs on there, like Smash 4, Super Mario 3D World, Splatoon, Yoshi's Wooly World, Twilight Princess and Wind Waker HD are some of the game that immediately come to mind. But, if you are looking to get the game solely for the RPGs, I don't really know if the Wii U is the right console for you. However, if any of those games sound like fun, I would highly recommend a Wii U, espeically since it's a ccheaper price than most of the consoles on the market.

I think the better question there is what kind of games do you like? I'm gonna go on a limb and assume you are at the very least interested in RPGs, considering you are on a Pokemon fan site and have Sans as your avatar. A lot of the FInal Fantasy games are on Steam, so if there is one that you haven't played, it'll probably be on there for you to play. If you like puzzle games at all, the Talos Principle and Portal are all very good and they both have good stories to go along with them. If you like platformers, Shovel Knight and Braid are excellent, with the ladder being more story-driven. Lastly, if you're in the mood for a really weird experience and/or don't have a Steam account, OFF is a fairly unknown gem of a game. It's an RPG with a battle system along the lines of Final Fantasy with a really surreal atmosphere. It's one of those games where it's really hard to tell exactly what's going on.

At this point, no. The system has a very lackluster number of RPGs compared to other systems (particularly the PS4 / Vita). NX is most likely gonna drop this year or next year anyways, so I would just wait for that.

I know that it's hard to take Call of Duty seriously when every game gets mysteriously perfect ratings from critics, but also nothing but 1s from gamers.

And I know this might hurt my hardcore gamer cred

But you guys should check out Black Ops 3. It is genuinely a standout amazing game, I would only say that Bloodborne and Undertale were better in 2015.
Now I'm gonna say that I really liked Advanced Warfare. I thought it was incredibly creative and fun, but it's still such a "do what we tell you and here are some shiny set pieces" kind of game, also the story was super lame.

But while Black Ops 3 is just as creative and fun with its far future technology, it's also an incredibly open and unrestricted game that doesn't rely on set pieces to in order to be fun. You are in total control of what weapons you take into missions, as well as a wide array of cybernetic superpower customization. All these things are bought with experience points that are gained through playing the game on different difficulties and completing challenges, which really makes the game worth replaying. The basic gameplay is intensely fun because it relies on little more than your ability to mess around with fun cyber shit in a solid, smooth FPS experience. And there are motherfucking BOSS FIGHTS.

But at the same time, the story is easily the best in any CoD game, and a strong contender for best story in any FPS game. I realize these are not high bars. Black Ops 3 isn't a masterpiece by any means, but I'd say the story is very comparable to a Total Recall or Blade Runner, and there's a strong Deus Ex vibe throughout. The setting is legit cyberpunk, containing harsh condemnations of American politics and the kind of storytelling that CoD and games like it perpetuate. In other words, if you liked the story of Spec Ops: The Line, but wished that game weren't utter shit, you will fucking love this. And the story only got better with replay and looking at theories and story analysis online.

TL;DR
DIRE WOLVES

Hey, man. Call of Duty is the game that all shooters, in some ways, try to be, so it's not like COD is a piece of crap. It's not personally for me, as I prefer story-driven FPSs over mechanic-driven ones, but to each their own, right? I don't think you are any less of a "hardcore gamer" or even a "gamer" for liking COD. If you had said that no other game can even match it...then I'd be suspicous.

Oh, I think the series has its ups and its way downs. And until recently I had given up on it. I moved in with a friend who had the games I hadn't played, and they are pretty short, so here we are. What I'm saying is that if anyone else was rolling their eyes any time a new game comes out, Black Ops 3 is the time to give it a chance again. Or at least to play that single game. It's well worth even owning imo.

I think the problem with COD is like Minecraft, Undertale, and FNAF. The fanbase precedes it. We've all heard tales of the angry screaming 8 year olds driving people away from the game. It's probably the only reason people dislike it besides its yearly releases.
