Welcome to the Doubles OU EV Spread Compendium! This is a thread designed to help old and new players alike in choosing the optimal Effort Value spreads and Natures for the most effective Pokemon in Doubles OU.

More often than not, newer players use inefficient EV spreads for their Pokemon. It can vary from just clicking the Suggested Spread button in the teambuilder (which is almost always a terrible choice), or running random EVs to make oneself seem "competitive". A more experienced player may take an EV spread off of the SmogDex. While the QC team is indeed hard at work updating these spreads, Doubles OU is a rapidly changing metagame, and many spreads are no longer as effective as they were in the past. Here is where our thread comes in. This resource sets out to inform both new and experienced players of the most common or effective EV spreads for top-tier Pokemon, while simultaneously providing a thread where alternative, yet viable EV Spreads and Natures can be discussed.

This thread is sorted alphabetically, with the spreads for each individual Pokemon roughly in order of how common they are. The names of the Pokemon are colored based on their place in the Viability Rankings: Tier 1 Tier 1.5 Tier 2 Tier 3. If a particular item is needed to make the given spread relevant, its sprite is included to the left of the EVs. If no item sprite is shown, multiple different items may effectively accompany the given spread. The spreads can be fairly easily inserted into Pokemon Showdown by copying and pasting them, then deleting the | and hitting 'Enter' to move the Nature to the line below.

How Contributing Works
In this thread, you may suggest EV Spreads and Natures for all Pokemon on the Doubles OU Viability Rankings. Any Pokemon not ranked will not be added to this compilation. If you wish to see the Pokemon sorted by Viability, you can check the Viability Rankings linked above and then come over to this thread looking for a specific Pokemon that interests you. If the Spread and Nature you are suggesting is not standard, you must provide rational reasoning for why these non-standard Spreads are viable and effective. You must also provide as of what the Spread does. Feel free to back your spread up with damage calculations or the speed of the Pokemon you are trying to check and counter. Please, however, do not suggest gimmicky or unviable Spreads in an attempt to create more sets for a Pokemon. Including additional spreads to speed creep these new EV spreads are also discouraged, as speed creeping has to end at some point.

(Note: This thread is for EV Spreads ONLY. You do not need to include a moveset in your post, though you may mention it in the description, as the moveset will often help explain the reasoning behind your EVs.) The point of this thread is to note of effective EV spreads. Unique movesets belong in the Creative Sets thread.

  • If Life Orb is not used and Volcarona's team has an Intimidate user, you may use 40 Def / 240 SpA / 228 Spe, which lives -1 Landorus-T Rock Slide and still outspeeds Deoxys-A after Quiver Dance
Rage Powder

You may now post! Not that me telling you not to worked, but for those of you who like to follow rules now I'm giving you permission.

I'll be adding Tier 4 Pokemon as necessary, likely only if that Pokemon uses something other than a 252/252 spread. There are still a few spreads that I'm missing, but I included all of the spreads I found on Pastelle's thread that still seemed relevant. Let me know if there's anything I can do to make this easier to read, or more inclusive of the whole metagame!

EDIT: At the brilliant suggestion of KyleCole, I'm going to change this so that it is organized alphabetically, instead of by tier. The same Pokemon will still be included, but this will make it far easier to preserve through viability ranking shifts. Expect that to be done by the end of Tuesday night EST

Special attack boosting Hoopa-U with creep

Hoopa-Unbound
Ability: Magician
EVs: 4 HP / 252 Atk / 200 SpA / 52 Spe
Mild Nature

Speed to out run Rotoms with out speed investment, reason is so you do not get Wisp'd.
OHKO's rotom-W with Energy Ball with Life Orb
OHKO's Aegislash, Jirachi, and Amoonguss with Life Orb

leUxie

Banned deucer.
This EV spread puts Uxie above dangerous threats better than Cresselia would. When Uxie's moveset and speed is needed, this is the EV spread that yields the best results.

Uxie
Ability: Levitate
EVs: 252 HP / 108 Def / 148 Speed
Bold Nature

Uxie has low HP compared to her competition (Cresselia), and 252 HP helps make's Uxie's high 130/130 defensive base stats optimized to their full potential.
Even though she has 252 EV's into HP, Uxie will sit at 354 HP, 90 lower than Cresselia or 79.7% of Cresselias HP. Another way to read this is that Cresselia has 25.5% more health than Uxie.

The 148 Speed EVs put Uxie at 263. This is:
- This is two point values higher than Gyarados and Mega Gyarados, still large damage threats with 108 Def and a bold nature.
- One point higher than max base 70 speed threats such as Bisharp, Breloom, Cloyster, Metagross, Skarmory, and Swampert (Mega).
- All non-scarf Jirachis will be slower than Uxie.
- In terms of every other pokemon, Uxie will be faster than every Tier 5, Tier 6, and Tier 7 pokemon.

If Cresselia wanted to hit the same speed tier to counter her dark threats, Cresselia would need 228 Speed EVs.

Damage Statistics:

This simulation will show the value of Uxie's (+10) higher speed stat and (+10) higher defense stat over Cresselia, and how they can be utilized for a better defensive pokemon to take less damage.

Scenario:
- The opposing team has an offensive Mega-Gardevoir 252 SpA EVs and a Timid nature.
- You swap a Cresselia in expecting a Psyshock that would have taken 78% of a 172 Def Amoonguss's health.
Assuming Cresselia also has 252 EVs in health and the remaining 28 in Def with a Bold Nature,
she would take on average 15.95% max health damage.
The Uxie above takes on average 14.8% max health damage in the same scenario.
This means that Cresselia would take 7.8% more damage than Uxie from the same attack.

Uxie's advantage over Cresselia is her higher (+10) Defense stat and her (+10) speed stat. If Uxie is needed for her complex move pool or higher speed tier, she can outperform Cresselia.

Uxie that does not utilize her distinct advantages:
If Uxie is chosen as a gimmick or without a purpose, the results are very different.
If both run 252 HP / 252 Def and a Bold Nature,
Cresselia would take 12.2% max health damage.
Uxie would take 14.5% max health damage.
In this scenario, Uxie would take 18.9% more damage than Cresselia, a number creeping up onto the HP difference.
This scenario showcases Cresselia's strength to be slow, but able to take hits better.

Uxie has awkward stats that could lead her to become outclassed, however, there are strengths.
If you need a Tier 5 Speed Cresselia, Uxie and this EV spread is the one for you.

PS: Uxie is Tier 1

That's a very impressively long and detailed post, but as the OP states: "Any Pokemon not ranked will not be added to this compilation". Until Uxie gets added to the VR, I can't add spreads for it.

Okay and with that I think reconstruction is finally done. I know I'm definitely missing some spreads, and I erred on the side of leaving spreads from the old compendium out because I want to make sure that you all still consider them relevant. If there are any that I've missed or any that you've been trying out, let me know!

Good call, I've done that and also taken the opportunity to use the names as a key of sorts - they're color coded by tier on the VR so that it's quick and easy to see how viable the mon is that you're looking up spreads for.

Utility
EVs: 252 HP / 136 Atk / 60 Def / 60 SpD | Adamant Nature
This spread lets Hitmontop avoid the 2HKO from Cresselia's Psychic or Psychock, with the remaining 136 EVs and an Adamant Nature to make its attacks more meaningful.
surviving 2 cress attacks is a ridiculous thing to EV for.
I move that remaining 60spd into attack to deal more damage or into defense since you will be switching to physical attackers usually
I have also seen it run max speed jolly to out run adamant/modest base 70mons with max speed such as bisharp

Charizard-Mega-X @ Charizardite X
Ability: Tough Claws

68 Defense EV's live 2 Spread Rock Slides from Adamant Lando-T
240 Speed EV's hits 296 speed, which out-speeds Modest Hydreigon, Substitute Kyurem-B, and Timid Max Kingdra when Rain is not up.
At +1 It hits 444, which out-speeds Modest Scarf Hydreigon, Max Base 150 pokemon (Deo-A and Mega-dactyl)
Rest is put into Attack to boost power.

Mega Charizard Y
Wallbreaker

EVs: 136 HP / 52 Def / 164 SpA / 148 Spe | Timid Nature
This spread should only be used in conjunction with Overheat, as the SpA investment guarantees that a sun-boosted Overheat will OHKO 0/4 Mega Kangaskhan. 148 Spe with a Timid Nature allows Charizard to move before Adamant Kangaskhan, but in case they are Jolly, the HP + Def investment lives a Return from Jolly Kangaskhan.
This spread is missing 8 evs. I tried looking for some other benchmarks but the only way I could see to put those extra evs is 4 in SpA to guarantee the OHKO on 4/0 mega kangaskhan and 4 in speed to speed creep the pokes trying to hit 300 if there are any

Good catch, idk how I messed that up oops

I've changed it to 44 HP / 112 Def / 168 SpA / 184 Spe; Timid, which outruns non-Scarf Lando-T but still has the same offensive and defensive benchmarks as the other one claimed to hit. It's a fair amount less bulky on the special side, but I feel like it's worth it. Please let me know if you have any other ideas!

Since this is presumably the post that you're annoyed about me ignoring, let me address these really quick. This is not a resource for every single possible viable spread on any thinkable team, rather those that have been proven effective - of which there are fairly few - for new players to pick up so that they aren't stuck clicking "suggested spread" and hoping for the best. Of course there are going to be exceptions, checkmater75 is proof that you can make almost any spread work at least somewhat well.

I am of the opinion that Hitmontop should be unranked. I have not seen SPL-level players use it on a serious team in a very long time. Thus, since I see no usage, there's no way for me to say what the "standard" is. So I just took the analysis spread, as I figure that no one has come up with a better standard spread.

Charizard-Mega-X @ Charizardite X
Ability: Tough Claws
EVs: 200 Atk / 68 Def / 240 Spe
Adamant Nature

68 Defense EV's live 2 Spread Rock Slides from Adamant Lando-T
240 Speed EV's hits 296 speed, which out-speeds Modest Hydreigon, Substitute Kyurem-B, and Timid Max Kingdra when Rain is not up.
At +1 It hits 444, which out-speeds Modest Scarf Hydreigon, Max Base 150 pokemon (Deo-A and Mega-dactyl)
Rest is put into Attack to boost power.
Normally I won't be responding to spreads that are too far away from the standard or either impractical or unproven. However, as I'm already responding to n1n1's, I'll make an exception here.

As I said in the description of the current Mega Charizard X spread, EVing for defensive benchmarks doesn't really make sense on a Pokemon with Flare Blitz as its main method of attack. You will almost never be in the situation where those benchmarks matter. Even if you did, a spread of 48 HP / 204 Atk / 16 Def / 240 Spe | Adamant Nature would accomplish the same benchmarks but with more SpD and more Attack, and more importantly lives a Lando-T Earthquake, which is much more threatening than 2 Rock Slides. I will be leaving the Zard X spread at max/max unless there are a considerable number of accomplished players who believe that bulk investment is worth it.

on this note where is fast rachi? 252 hp 72 in spdef rest in speed with jolly

Stratos put his stamp of approval on the set and he both hates running more speed than is necessary for outspeeding Sharp AND hates checkmater ideas so basically you know he has to admit it's godly despite his bias.

This EV spread allows you to outrun scarf lando-T under tailwind with the Evs allowing you to miss the 3hko from max SpA heatran. It still Ohkos heatran with choice specs hp ground and has a chance to OHKO bisharp. It also 2hkos most rotom-wash variants depending on what they are EVed to survive.

EV spread for Rotom-W @ Sitrus Berry

248 HP / 104 Def / 128 SpA / 28 SpD, Calm Nature

Benchmark 1:
- Survives Fake Out + Frustration from Adamant Mega Kanga
- by extension Survives Double-Edge from Jolly Mega Kanga
Benchmark 2:
- Survives Timid Mega Charizard Y's Solar Beam
- by extension Survives LO Modest Hydreigon's Draco Meteor
Benchmark 3:
- OHKOs 72 HP Landorus-T with Hydro Pump

Other calcs:
- Survives 2 Hyper Voices from Modest Mega Gardevoir
- Survives any 2 hits from Mega Diancie comfortably
- 14% (36/256 chance) for Kyurem-B's Earth Power to 2HKO
- 25% chance for Specs Sylveon's Hyper Voice to 2HKO

NOTE: although max HP maximizes Sitrus Berry healing, it also maximizes damage taken from sand, burn, etc. I'd rather minimize residual damage taken every turn than heal back 1 HP with Sitrus.

OHKO Latios with Knock Off 100% of the time and outspeed Adamant Scarf Lando-T. the extra speed is usually unnecessary so that was reduced to give Psycho Boost a strong impact even after diverting some EVs away from it.
