Gen VII: Pokémon Sun and Moon (New info Post #5834)

So I was watching the Treehouse video again, this time specifically looking for any UI details I missed the first time, and found this stuff.

The switch menu has space for 5 moves. It's interesting that the battle menu only has space for 4, unless you consider the unused left side...

Next, the stat changes screen is for more than just stat changes! Torrent appears on Popplio during battle against Pichu and Litten, even though it's at full health both times. I assume this feature was activated after it was at low HP from fighting Pikipek, and will tell you when Torrent is actually active. Pretty cool!

The stat change screen has enough room. I wonder if it will show how items and environments and other stuff affects the Pokemon's stats.

After thinking about it for a day, I really like having all this information available during battles on cartridge (if they do it right).
But there is one thing...
Moody Pokémon have just become alot less annoying to use in online battles on cartridge. I'm not sure if I'm happy about that...

This right here is gold, there is absolutly no reason to add a 5th space if it's not gonna be use, if it's a "size" problem they could have made some other things in the UI bigger. THIS IS GOLD!

You say this, But let me ask you a question. We saw how Zygarde changed formes from 10% to 100% mid battle. We also saw how anime as all heck Core Punisher was. But where did Core Buster come from? Its way to cinematic to 100% for 10% to use it.

I dont think its too far fetched to believe that a 5th move slot will be granted to certain pokemon when certain conditions were met. in fact, before e3, there was some leaks about 5th move slots being granted to Megas as well... I wonder if I can find it.

Because for all we know for the moment only Zygarde 100% has something like that BUT it would be stupid to go to such length for only one pokemon. This two informations combine give us confirmation that 5th move is coming for more than Zygarde. It is still huge news and it's gold.

Before we get too excited, that 5th moveslot could be used when you're trying to learn a new move when you have 4 slots filled in when the game prompts you to replace something, similar to how Gen 6 does it.

Living an empty space 95% of the time is bad design, I'm pretty sure they wouldn't do something like that. BUT if the 5th move is a specific move that is usable under some conditions, this space will also be used during the replacement. Two in One.

games are not even out and they already gave the legendaries new forms. wtf GF

"Solgaleo and Lunala are two Pokémon that hold an important key to the story. The forms that these two Pokémon take when they release their mighty power are now revealed as the Radiant Sun phase and the Full Moon phase. Both appear to be shining with a stronger light than in their previously released images. What will these two do when they release their full power?"

more 780 BST goodness, atleast they balanced the form change this time around.

US Name: Yungoos
Jp. Name: Yangoose (ヤングース)

Type: Normal-type
Classification: Loitering Pokémon
Height: 1'04"
Weight: 13.2 lbs.
Ability: Stakeout / Strong Jaw

Details:
This Pokémon was shown as being available on Route 1 in the Treehouse Live @ E3. It evolves once. It is said to always be hungry

Yungoos is a big eater that is never satisfied. The majority of its long body is given over to its stomach, and its digestion is swift, so it's always hungry. It has strong fangs, so it can crush and consume the hardest of objects. Each Yungoos chooses its own particular route for searching out prey. It stalks along this route searching for food until it's exhausted, at which point it drops and sleeps wherever it may be. It's thought that these Pokémon decide their routes based on safety, so that there's no risk in falling asleep at any time. Yungoos is not a Pokémon that is native to the Alola region. It was brought to the region to help deal with the explosive population of a certain other Pokémon, and now Yungoos are commonly seen around the Alola region.

How does serebii know that yungoos evolves once if it was never shown

I have a feeling that it is just the appearance they take when they use their signature attack and is purely cosmetic, similar to Xerneas in X.

IIRC it was already stated in here - the Pokedex showed how many evolutions a Pokemon has.
but it didn't show the pokedex for yungoos

also if yungoos isn't from Alola, like the Asian Mongoose isn't from Hawai'i, that means tht eventually, we'll get yungoos's native region: a china or india based region, especially since the game has tried to have real-life parallels for a while now
even if that doesn't happen, at the very least, we know that there will be at least one more region after Alola and at least one of them will have yungoos

Uhh, that doesn't really mean anything. Polar bears aren't found in New York or France and I would bet someone's life savings that we won't see a region based off the Arctic.

Why does this always happen to this thread?

Also, that 5th move thing sounds like it's going make or break so many pokemon. Here's hoping that it is limited to few pokemon, and specifically pokemon without mega evolutions.

I'm saying since its explicitly stated, I have a feeling it will happen because the asian mongoose came to hawaii from another region: China and India
Also, something that they said in the e3 hinted at synchros, but I can't remember what.

My opinion on "Synchro" Evolution ("Synchro" is in quotation marks as it is a rumor):
For starters, I really dislike the concept. Especially since it sets a bad precedence that we will get some new transformation gimmick every generation instead of continuing Mega Evolution, which is a solid concept. And here's what would happen: you either have to abandon new Mega Evolutions or split attention between Megas and "Synchros".
Also, it seems unlikely. Especially with character customization returning. Let's look at Ash-Greninja to show what I mean:
the-ash-greninja-connection-uncovered-but-will-we-see-this-trait-in-pokemon-z-pokemon-z-675676.jpg

In this case, Greninja gains from Ash some black on it's head (hair color), red batter on the middle of his head (hat), and his torso pattern changes (reflects shirt).
What does this mean for character customization? Well, here's a basic rundown of X and Y's clothing options just for Greninja:
Hats: 19 Male, 27 Females
Shirts: 35 Male, 34 Female + 10 Dresses
Hair Color: 5 (Blond, Orange, Honey, Brown and Black)
That's a lot of variables and that's just X and Y! Who knows how much they have added. We might have every color in the rainbow hair-wise!
And that's PER POKÉMON! Even if it's just 20 (roughly the same as the initial batch of Megas), that's quite a bit of work. It's not a simple thing like creating one set of stock elements for the characters and Pokémon. And they would have to update it every generation or keep the protagonists the same. And there wouldn't be a consistent look, meaning you can't really market them (merchandising, where the real money from the game is made).
Also, honestly look at Ash-Greninja. It doesn't feel that much different from Greninja. Compare that to various Megas, and you'll see what I mean.

Finally, comparison time. You know what this feels like to me? It feels like what happened with Snoke in the Star Wars fandom. A few people got it in their heads that he would be revealed as Darth Plagueis, a character mentioned twice in a single movie. And they would use anything as evidence for their theory.
This started out on similar grounds: people seeing the symbol in the Japanese Sun and Moon logo and thinking to a random Pokémon manga that isn't the most popular thing in the world. When the symbol is in essence a d8, not an uncommon shape.
Right now, this is a rumor based on one of the more random elements from the anime that feels more along the lines of Spiky-Eared Pichu or Cosplay Pikachu than a new form of transformation and a random and strange manga that was never released outside of Japan.

tl;dr
It most likely won't happen.

Adding on to this. Another problem with this 'Synchro Evolution' mechanic is that—even if they do find a way to circumvent all of of the issues Vader_the_White has already pointed out—how would they carry it over to a new generation? We'd get new trainers and consequently the 'synchro' pokemon would have to look different as well. Would they drop everything they had done before and restart from scratch, or perhaps even drop a new battle mechanic altogether? Both cases are unlikely, one more than the other however.

But, I'll refrain from saying it won't happen for sure either because, if I'm being honest, I was also 100% sure that gen6 would get a follow-up game after XY; be it Pokemon Z or a direct sequel. Now just look at how wrong I was.

Or maybe the fifth slot is to tell you what item it's holding?

Alternate Formes rarely increases the BST (and when it does its usually an out of battle transformation). Formes, if they do anything, usually just changes a Type, Ability, rearrange Stats. And if it does increase the BST, it won't be as much as 100.

i thought that too, until i read the description of the new forms. i would like to point your attention to the bolded words

@Pikachu315111

so you mean they'll go from 680 to maybe 700 or might just have rearrangement of stats??

Yo unpopular opinion but I hope they scrap Mega evolutions I didn't find it a great concept and it just became overflooded where megas got outclassed by other megas and Mega Lopunny and Mega Manectric completely screwed the speed tiers. I know they won't scrap mega evolutions but in my dreams I hope it does or they at least discontinue and they do what they did with the few mons that got stat buffed in XY and do that with some Pokemon they want to buff. (I can see them doing it to mons like Infernape for the Platinum remake)

Or it does nothing (ala Resolute Forme Keldeo and In-Battle Xerneas) and just looks cool.

It's brought a different way of thinking to teambuilding, since the Mega is pretty much always an integral part of the team. The fact that you have megas outclassing other megas and speed tiers getting messed up is mostly because of the 100pt Base Stat increase from mega evolving, plus the one mega evolution per battle. tbh it will only get worse as they add in more mega evolutions... but that's how it goes. Hopefully they do nerf Parental Bond though.

btw: Mega Evolution existing is a large reason why I do not want to see Synchro Evolutions: It's pretty bloody redundant to have two things that do pretty much the same thing. (One could argue they do that with Primal Reversion, and that is true, but I'm willing to give it a pass since it is just gonna be Groudon and Kyogre getting it, unless they decide to bring it back for the Gen 4 remakes... which i would be fine with too.)

Actually I doubt it'll increase BST, Giratina has a different forme and it only rearranges stats.

Look they could done dozens of things with forme changes (or as Project_Mars said, nothing at all). Let's see what else they have to say about it before we really start speculating.
