I wonder if Cubone and Pikachu will have Alolan forms

The Japanese trailer shows regular Pikachu evolving into Alolan Raichu and regular Cubone evolving into Alolan Marowak. So I'm going to guess that Pikachu and Cubone don't have Alola forms.

At this point I'm worried that Persian won't have an Alola Form. Why wouldn't they have shown it with Alolan Meowth? Possibilities:

• There is no Alolan Persian. (Which would be terrible and incredibly disappointing.)
• Alolan Persian has some sort of special gimmick that they don't want to reveal yet, like a new type or a move or ability they want to showcase in a future trailer (but then why show Alolan Meowth now rather than later?)
• No reason whatsoever; they just decided to only show Meowth.

Perhaps there's some new gimmick to Alolan Meowth's evolution. Man, I don't know. I do hope Alolan Persian exists, though.

Some observations that you may choose to ignore:

1. Saying Innards Out is OP is unfortunately you getting caught in the hype train. This ability gets worse the higher the user's HP stat is, as it becomes harder and harder to KO while it has a large amount of HP remaining (unless it has super shitty defenses). It doesn't sound that great on paper, assuming puke-u-whatever has good defenses. If it's an absolute frail mon (which would imply low HP), I can see this being a decent ability at best.

2. We have no idea how good Electric Terrain + Surge Surfer is going to be. Literally only two 'mons revealed this gen have a chance at making it viable/benefitting from it lol. If Tapu Koko is the only auto ET setter, the strategy becomes insanely predictable.

That is all. Also, GF needs to stop with the genwunner fan service with these Kanto Alolan forms. Gimme some Johto/Unova Alolan forms please, there is literally so much potential with this new mechanic.

The new trailer is awesome! Marowak-A is freaking awesome. I love the design and the new typing, ghost/fire is really unique and he definitely earned a spot on my team. Meowth-A is meh in design but i love technician and am hoping Persian also gets an Alolan form.
The new Alola pokemon are pretty cool. The mushroom fairy ring is not really my thing but Wishiwashi is great and i want to know how its ability works. Pyukumuku has a unique design and its ability is really cool.
I like how team skull is getting back to the evil team roots of just causing mischief. And I like all the new unique abilities being introduced.

I like the evil team. They look so stupid, and their description sounds stupid too (in a good way)
So they enjoy destruction, instead of having a really ambitious plan or something. That's something new.

Oh, look at how pretty the background water (in Wishiwashi's trailer)!!
Seems like the graphics are an upgrade from XY.

"OP" is obviously an exaggeration, but with some stats tweaking it can be really good. Even something as a bare 2HKO can cause significant damage alongside common forms of passive damage.

If it becomes viable, I guess it would be a deterrant to wallbreakers such as Mega Medicham, not just a random sweeper.

There's absolutely no way Pyukumuku has a base HP of 70 or higher. It had ~17% left when Minior knocked it out and Minior lost 20 HP from Innards Out (which means Pyukumuku had 20 HP left), and that's just not possible with a higher base HP. Combining the information from both trailers together, base 53-55 HP is far more likely.

Pyukumuku likely won't have a problem getting one-shot if it goes with no EVs/IVs in its defenses/HP and a bad defensive nature like Mild or Rash; unless it has Shuckle-like stats, it shouldn't have a hard time making itself frail. Sure, lowering your own HP means the opponent loses potentially less HP, but it sure beats surviving a hit just for Innards Out to do a little more damage than Spikes. It doesn't have to one-shot whatever takes it out for Innards Out to be good, as just weakening something to allow a revenge killer to KO the opponent is still providing a huge advantage. Like you don't have to deal enough damage to KO a Keldeo, but pushing it into KO range for a revenge killer is a big enough deal to make it viable at least.

It doesn't actually, it just kinda cuts away.

I know the HUD wasn't exactly shown during the clip, but if A-Marowak went first against Hauter, then that would be a pretty interesting stat change to a usable speed tier.

I just thought the abillity "schooling" allowed wishiwashi to transform into it's school form on the switch in, but I was wrong.....

Wishiwashi have a new Ability, Schooling, which no Pokémon has previously had. With Schooling, Wishiwashi can change form in battle to their School Form under certain conditions.

Just wondering what those special "conditions" might be....

... which would mean 310-314 HP when fully invested if that's true. 273-277 if it switches into Stealth Rock once.

Still enough to badly damage almost everything offensive.

Well I woke up to a lot...
Base HP stats time for those interested!

Gumshoos: 80 - 96
Wishiwashi: 39 - 55, and this doesn't change with the different formes
Pyukumuku: 85 - 102 (bulky!)
Alolan Raichu: 53 - 69; like the other alolan formes, I highly doubt it changes base HP

I couldn't see the rest.

edit: Update from the english trailer:
Minior: 45 - 60; combined with what we were shown before, that's 55-60
So which is it? 53-55 or 85-102? That's a pretty big disparity in calculations if you ask me.

I think it has to do with amount of HP left.

1. We don't even know if Electric Terrain will be good yet. A single Pokémon - which shares it's main typing with Raichu - has the setter ability, a single Pokémon revealed so far (this Raichu) has an ability that benefits from it, and we don't even know if there'll be an item that extends it. For all we know it could be as shitty as hail.

2. It's useless in-game. Don't tell me you're going to use Electric Terrain in-game, because you're not. You're just not. It's annoying when an ability is so specific to one playstyle that isn't used in-game.

3. The last time Terrakion was relevant was pre-bank XY

4. I really don't give a fuck about competitive.

I hate to get to this, but I just discussed about its potential. Not in singles, granted.

Electric terrain seems to be about as useful as rain, boosting Electric attacks. It's difficult to find justification on it in singles, but in other formats like Triples, especially where Dark Void annoys the hell out, it finds great uses. In Doubles and Triples this can be good asset even without extending item as at least MegazardY can say about sun.

When did Raichu's ability matter in game anyway? Static is too frail to be used and Lightning rod is either unavailable yet or require extensive search. I won't say it matters in story run. The only thing I agree is its frailty and lack of power that prevented me to continue travelling with him in X before.

And Terracott combination is one of the famous Triples combo, to add with what others have said.

1. Everyone sees the cucumber's ability and become afraid it does crazy damage.
2. We prove it has shit hp and calm down.
3. It evolves
4. Panick round two
5. It gets played the first few weeks of the new meta
6. It falls away as a gimmick that works only against hyper offense boosters like scarf ditto

Just pray it doesn't get Follow Me. Imagine the nightmare in doubles and triples.

I don't know about you guys, but I think Team Skull is the evil team we all wanted. They're literally just gangsters who steal Pokemon and mess with the Island Challenge.
The boss said something like 'fellow reject' to professor, didn't he? I feel like it's something deeper than just gangster shenanigans, although not as far as those villain factions trying to make The End of The World as We Know It. This seems so interesting.

Just pray it doesn't get Follow Me. Imagine the nightmare in doubles and triples.
A Pokemon version of land mine. Oh great, I suddenly have chills imagining it on many people's teams....

Will people start packing False Swipe too to defuse this thing? Jk Ww
