Pokémon GO

but the game tells you to be aware of your surroundings, its gets difficult to be aware of anything when you have to throw 4-5 balls at something, as you need precision you have RNG on items for the pokestops, RNG on the level of the pokemon. the game has to at least give you half a chance why give pokeballs at level 20 in the first place?
YES hatched a Growlithe :D

Finally evolved my second Growlithe (because my first Arcanine had Bite and Bulldoze). And what do you know? Bite + Bulldoze again.

Man, I'm so pissed off. I barely encounter Growlithe, so it's not like I'm going to have another chance to get a good Arcanine soon. There has to be something that manipulates what moves a Pokemon is going to get upon evolution...

Two days ago, I got three eggs from a Poke Spot in my town, a 2km and two 5km ones. I have only two incubators on me atm, so for the sake of avoiding unnecessarily using up the limited incubator, I stuck a 5km egg in that and the 2km in my infinite incubator (so I could place the 3rd one there once the quick egg hatched)

Today, the 2km hatched, and when I went to place the third egg in, I noticed the game actually switched the incubators on me, so that the hatched 2km egg was in my limited one.

Has anyone else had this happen to them? It honestly pisses me off.

the game tells you to be aware of your surroundings because the INTENTION is that you play while walking, and when a pokemon pops up you STOP while you catch it. You shouldn't have any issues with throwing multiple balls at a pokemon and staring at your screen if you stop in a safe place to catch the mon in question and you don't play while driving (which you shouldn't)

yea and they they spawn the tiny things behind the pokestop, so you have to start fiddling with that, that and the game was enjoying giving me random curveballs, not awarding me for my curveballs or not throwing at too short a distance
oh and I now have a 15/15/14 Gyarados, Magikarps seem more active today, a good load of candy gained today to reach my 400
and no it didn't get Twister :D

So here's something I'm wondering. I used an Incense and a Lucky Egg Yesterday at a local park, since it had about 8 Pokestops close to each other and most had Lures on them. Thought I'd catch a bunch of evolution fodder and try to push for level 20 with it.

In the process, I ended up seeing a lot more Magikarp than usual and 2 Dratini, something I never encountered in that area. I know Incense and Lure Modules affect the rate of appearance, but can they have an impact on what specific Pokemon can show up in a location as well?

depends, you may have hit the timer when Magikarps spawn, Lures have no effect on what spawns, just the frequency, although they MAY increase the radius of what you find, given I found a Jigglypuff today in a place they don't usually spawn, but it was on my nearby list, and no more spawned, and I know of a pokestop where Magikarps frequently spawned, some used a Lure on one nearby and Magikarps spawned at the lured one, Dratini rarely turn up anyway, I have had things turn up that are not on nearby tracker, off the top of my head I have had a Ponyta turn up in a place I was farming water types (not a spawnpoint, not seen since) a couple of slowbro and a Starmie randomly turned up, as well as a porygon, and a couple of Magnamite in various places, that were not on the nearby list.
Magikarp spawns are not a bad thing every catch is 3 candy, +1 per rubbish one you send to the professor.

Yeeeaaaaahhhh that's that shit I do like

But really, that's awesome. I'm glad this game is getting people who stopped playing Pokemon or have never played into the main series games. I remember seeing somewhere on this forum that pokemon might not continue on handheld consoles after some time and transition right into mobile. But if the sales of the 3DS are going up because of Pokemon Go, then it seems that there is still hope for main series to remain on handheld consoles, at least for now.

With the confirmation that Masuda looks to find compatibility between GO and SunMoon, I think that'll help. I'm still wondering what we will get from that.
The thing I'm interested to see is if this impacts the item economy in some manner, such as some kind of way to exchange Pokemon between the games or in someway obtain items. The App is very reminiscent of Pokemon Dream Radar, and if you bought the 3DS game and the 3DS itself, I don't think it unreasonable to gain something from that. Pokemon Go is a game that plans to implement main line features like PVP battles and Trading. In such a case, it's more important to keep people playing even if they're free players since they represent content for the paying players they wanna keep on. Adding "free" benefits for owning a main game is a way to incentivize players like myself, who don't spend money on GO but buy the regular entries, to keep playing more.

I suppose it is another method to get pokemon that has the second from.
instead of sending to professor you fill up sun and moon with Pidgeys instead :P

Hatched three Growlithe in a row, and I was able to evolve one of them into this bad boi. Finally a good moveset. I don't even care about the IVs.

I found the only Dratini I've ever seen today on the side of a roundabout. Normally when it appears on my nearby tab it never appears. I started throwing great balls at it but only 2 wobbles! Then I used a razz berry and then only 2 wobbles...then I realised I didn't have any more great balls. The poke balls only did one wobble. Then Dratini fled and I got annoyed so annoyed...

I saw Snorlax on my tracker today :(
Currently sat my Gyarados in a Gym, it was level 3 and had no spaces, but the weakest thing in there is a CP 1152 Cloyster.. which Electabuzz easily defeats, added 519 prestige per KO leveled it to 4 to put my Gyarados in:
Gym is now
1152 cloyster
1319 Golduck
my 1532 Gyarados (yes that 15/15/14 one)
a 1635 Nidoqueen
2567 Dragonite
seems people have been adding prestige.
hopefully that can stay in the gym for a while.

no idea, they are everywhere, I failed to catch a Dragonair yesterday, but I have seen nowhere enough Dratinis, same with Snorlax and Lapras.. especially at higher levels..

Maybe people took advantage of the Dratini 'nests' that existed in the past.. I've never seen such a nest, unfortunately.

the 3 gyms around me, the strongest pokemon are: 1799 Gyarados (guy is level 25)
2567 Dragonite (level 30)
2379 Dragonite (level 24) - this gym has been completly ignored by red/yellow for 2 days, because the same crappy Electrode that was there is still there.
2KM egg hatched.. Caterpie with 73% IV..
seriously WHY!!! thats 2/3 eggs that have been under 80% IV things I wanted to evolve (Horsea was the other)
there still are probably Dratini nests, but not to the extent I am seeing, and same with Gyarados, there is no Magikarp nest around here, there is in the city (and a staryu nest), thats 2 i know of
also rather annoyed at the constant rubbish psyducks and slowpokes I find, without fail they suck, both evolved forms have decent CP and moves, so a rubbish one is weaker by a noticeable amount.
still waiting on finding a 90+ Rattata so its in the top 10% of Rattatas ;) and of course hope for a Raticate with Hyper beam.
and today near my house, Squirtle AND charmander on the nearby list at some point, I really wish Ninatic would roll out the tracker, I need more Squirtles (all mine are below 50% IV) and Charmanders for candy

ahh I got the squirle, GPS wandered me to the spawnpoint across the road, and there it was.. :D

I was fighting a gym earlier today outside of my local corner market. I beat it, but just as I was choosing a Pokemon to throw in there this girl walks right out of the store with her phone, stands RIGHT in front of me, steals the gym for herself, and glances at me before walking away. The LEAST she could have done was tease me about it "haha, too slow" or something, but no. She knew exactly what she was doing, who she was doing it to, and didn't fucking care. What a *****.

Did you retake the Gym?
