0:09: Darn these microsecond frames! We're on the rocky island in this on being shown inside the canyon. Below there's a dead tree... and 3 things in front of it. Now 2 of them are people, but the 3rd is big so probably a Pokemon. One of the humans are wearing a white jacket so its either Kukui or one of the Aether Foundation officials. I'm also guessing the smaller human is the player, I think the girl as I think you see the bag the female character carries. However I have no clue what that Pokemon could be... maybe its a new Pokemon?

That looks like a Mudsdale to me, I'm quite sure about it.

I see a Mudsdale too. As the pink ears are Snubbull's for me. But if there are new Pokémon, maybe we know more about them next week—but I am especially waiting for Rockruff evolution.

Quick question: did anyone else notice the sparkle at 0:09 of the most recent trailer just to the left of the fountain, by the tree? It's fleeting but it resembled a mega stone sparkle, in my opinion.

*Puts on nitpick glasses* Erm, actually, the Elite Four's origina Japanese name is "The Four Heavenly Kings", named after and based on the concept of four Buddhist Gods whom watch the world according to one cardinal directions (north, south, east, & west). *Takes off glasses*

As for the Champion, there's really no definite thing which makes up the Champion aside they're a strong trainers. Using the criteria you listed above:

Blue: fossil, pseudo, evolution gimmick (Alakazam, Exeggutor, Arcanine), obtain gimmick (Starter)
Lance: fossil, pseudo (multiple of Dragonite), evolution gimmick, obtain gimmick (Charizard)
Red: fossil, pseudo, evolution gimmick (Espeon in Gen II), obtain gimmick (all 3 Kanto Starters, Snorlax, Lapras in Gen IV)
Steven: fossil (both gen's), pseudo (though only one of his gen's), evolution gimmick, obtain gimmick (not counting pseudo)
Wallace: fossil, pseudo, evolution gimmick (Milotic, Ludicolo), obtain gimmick (sorta, Wailord and Whiscash needed for puzzle to solve Regi Puzzle)
Cynthia: fossil, pseudo, evolution gimmick (Milotic, Togekiss, Roserade, Gastrodon to an extent), obtain gimmick (Spiritomb)
Alder: fossil, pseudo, evolution gimmick (Accelgor & Escavalier), obtain gimmick (Volcarona)
Iris: fossil, pseudo (though not main Pokemon), evolution gimmick, obtain gimmick
Diantha: fossil (both gen's), pseudo, evolution gimmick (not counting fossil/pseudo/Mega), obtain gimmick (Gourgeist to an extent)

And that's not counting other things like how the Elite Four sometimes picks up the slack with some owning the pseudo if the Champion doesn't (Lance in Gen I, Drake uses a Salamence in Gen III).

Wonder if this may also be true for the Ultra Beasts, having a code name now but a name later on.

The name for UB-01 is UE-01 in spanish, so yes, they probably have a translation for later on in the game. All of them.

I did try to capture as many sparkles as possible. It seems like the Zygarde cells aren't as sparkly as the top image. One of the first trailers has a sparkle in an area that you pass by on a Tauros - not sure how that compares to these images.

It's definitely a sparkle. I cut the frames to make it easier to identify.
NkwqWL
gifs.com/gif/NkwqWL idk if that link will work :o

It just looks like a generic sparkle, though. Could be a mega stone, or some other item they've decided to hide as part of a miniquest.

It looks like a Gogoat from behind to me. Brown lower section, green coat above which is of a slightly different green than the grass; white sections are it's feet and head...

Speaking of Zygarde, I wonder what role it'll play in the game. Obviously it's gonna be important to the plot, since we have to find its cells. But what happens when we get them all?

Zygarde only goes into its complete form when it feels the ecosystem is threatened. Maybe the ultra beasts are somehow (deliberately or not) ruining the world and Zygarde decides to stop it?

I wonder if Zygarde employs wild Absol in order to know whether something bad will happen...

I get a very side quest-y vibe from Zygarde. Especially since you have to collect all it's cells, and locking off part of the main game's story until you've collected all of a certain item doesn't seem like something Pokémon would do.

Not really. The fact that Zygarde responds to ecological disasters does make sense for it to be in Alola, but it doesn't seem like it would be integral to the plot itself... Otherwise why need to find Solgaleo/Lunara?

Hey knew Cousin Ray would sort it out, plus if ORAS and Sun/Moon happen at the same time(has it been confirmed yes or no either way?) he would be busy in Alola.
There are hints to ORAS taking place before XY (and iirc they have outright stated it thusly) so it does not take place at the same time as Sun/Moon (Dexio and Sina reference the main characters of XY when talking to the Sun/Moon PC.)

Interesting... Makes me wanna fire up My OR copy to see if it is similar now... Although they could decide to reuse it for Z-Stones.

I actually have an alternative hypothesis about Zygarde, since the fact that there's a 50% Forme in Kalos kind of conflicts with your speculation (disregarding time frames). We know that Zygarde is a collection of "cells" arranged in certain ways - or rather an individual Zygarde is a cell (at least the core cells) that can work in a colony like coral, and we know that Zygarde has cells in at least two locations (Kalos and Alola). We capture all the cells in Alola and Zygarde can reach his 100% Forme, but there's still a 50% Forme manifestation unaccounted for all the way over in Kalos. That means that Zygarde's 100% Frome isn't 100% of its cells and the name is a bit of a misnomer. Given distribution spread across these two far-apart regions, there are likely cells in other regions as well. Zygarde wouldn't be too busy in Alola, but perhaps there aren't enough cells in Hoenn for whatever reason to form any kind of meaningful Forme in the region in order to combat the threat. A Zygarde manifestation would have to travel from another region to stop the disaster and Rayquaza (in RSE) or the player (ORAS) just got there first to avert disaster.

Well, at the moment we don't really know what Solgaleo and Lunala are doing. It was speculated earlier in the thread that they could be the ones you call upon to fix whatever issue the ultra beasts may be causing, but we don't know for sure if that's what their role is. I acknowledge that having them fix the issue instead of Zygarde makes more sense, since they are the box legendaries and it would be weird for them to not be important to the plot in some way. But I also wonder what reason we need Zygarde for, and since it is known to take its complete form in times of ecological crisis, I feel like its gotta have some impact on the story.

Maybe 'll be wrong, but as we had the "Delta episode" in ORAS, I'm expecting a "Z episode" in SuMo, with the main difference being the cells "quest" starting earlier in the game. Overall it's highly unlikely for a non-box cover legend to take the spot in the main story, while it's perfectly compatible with the postgame. Even more so considering that an XY direct sequel was likely aborted in favor of these new games.

IIRC the individual cells do show up before you get the cube, so it may be something you can start during the main story... But i doubt they'll let you get access to 50% zygarde before the end of the story. I could see it having as much impact as the Event Shiny Metagross from ORAS, a few different bits of dialogue if you get a certain amount by a certain part of the story. We shall see though.

Where was Zygarde when Groudon and Kyogre were threatening the ecosystem?
The role of Zygarde in ORAS was played by Sir Not-Appearing-In-This-Film.
(Took me longer than it should have to think of that joke.)

Zygarde isn't necessarily relegated to post-game just because of the (presumably significant) game of hide-and-seek you'll have to play with the cells and cores during the main story. *Plot happens* and Zygarde Complete forms itself from all of the cells and cores, collected or not, since it doesn't need intervention to do so. You may only need to collect-'em-all in order to actually use Complete form yourself.

I did like what the Delta episode suggests for the series' progression, that we could have advanced plots after beating the champion. Of course, in this case things get kind of hazy, assuming there is no champion. But I'd like to see less of an "episode" and more of a full bodied plot some time.
Also MORE LEGENDARY CUT SCENES! There's not nearly enough ;_;

Edit: dammit I've regressed to wishlisting, oh well might as well go all out while I'm here STEEL SHOULDN'T RESIST NORMAL MOVES okay I'm done

EDIT: Also Hau is shown witnessing UB-01 with the player, so this could be a rival that actually does something :o.

Hau isn't the only one, Barry double tags with you in some battles, Bianca calls for help, Hugh is the most helpful rival by a mile though and well Shauna is the only useful one from the kalos bunch...

I mean some rivals actually helped the player.

Personally I Still believe in Pokemon Z coming to 7th gen, seeing as something clearly happened during XY to halt its development mid way through.

I didn't mean he would be the only useful one, what I meant to say is he's probably one of the most useful because I don't think you'd witness an Ultra Beast and do nothing about it. The Kalos bunch did virtually nothing (Calem/Shauna Team Flare Secret Base is the only thing I can think of), Barry double teams at Spear Pillar and Hugh is generally involved with everything. I just want for the rival to not sit back and do nothing.

EDIT: I highly doubt Pokemon Z would get its own game. It's a generation to late lol.

But let's be honest, Hugh is the most helpful rival we ever got, I mean Barry tried to save one of the spirits but failed and he tag teams with you, Bianca does the sensible thing to do and actually calls for help! I mean the teenagers aren't the only one involved, she actually calls for help, that's big!

But Hugh man, he guides you through the game if you call him, he heals your pokemon, shows you around other towns, fights some grunts as you fight others, hands you TMs and heals you pokemon, then tags with you on several occasions.

Man we need more rivals like Hugh(Best or second best rival ever only second to Barry if you have some preferences for him), Barry(a rival that likes to battle and it's a pun on speed runners) and Bianca(role expansion the epitome of the franchise concept travel around with your darlings) those 3 are glorious and they did their own thing, they didn't copy other archetypes, they did their own thing and it was great!

I find it sad that people want Gladion to copy silver, seriously many speculated that he steals the Pokémon that is strong against you despite the site stating he already has his partner in type null, they try to justify this with Calem Absol...but let's be honest here, they just want a Silver clone despite silver being fairly mediocre as a rival outside of fanfiction or fujoshi bait.

If Gladion becomes a pseudo rival like wally did, let's hope he does his own thing and doesn't copy the Silver+Calem just to please a demographic.

Agreed that Hugh is an amazing rival. He actually has a backstory (Silver had one to but you needed an event to access it). His Sister's Pokemon was stolen by Team Plasma, so his campaign was that of revenge more than wanting to save the world or something (and the moment where he was reunited with said Pokemon, but it was now hostile to him because of Team Plasma's treatment of it was great).

Will agree that Hugh was helpful, but character-wise I couldn't stand him. Bianca, and to a lesser extent Cheren, were a lot more dynamic and fleshed out compared to Hugh. (although with Cheren, some of that came from being in a sequel.) One of the big hits for me when it comes to the Black and White story is that you do get to see Bianca grow as a person as the story progresses. Hugh was pretty static, always "RARW Must beat Team Plasma to find sister's Purrloin. Can't trust Team Plasma." Til the end when he finally succeeds in that goal. (Cheren is similar to Silver, but does seem to have more thought put into his writing.)

I hope Hau shows some manner of growth over the story, since it looks like a lot of time will be spent with him. At the very least, I hope he's more dynamic than Hugh or the Kalos 5 - the XY PC.
