Ahem, what do you all think about Ash's creepy smile? Personally I don't think I'd come out alive if I met Ash like that.

Type: Null update is quite cool though.

does anyone think the introduction of ultra-beasts make the game seem more...sinister?

this shit is really reminding me of attack on titan
I wouldn't say UB make Pokemon games sinister they are just a 3rd living form they are not human neither a Pokemon, they also can fight with pokemon (by the recent leaks).

They are creatures from a parallel world/dimension that don't belong in the Pokemon world as they don't follow their rules yet they exist, it adds a layer of complexity to the pokemon lore/world as UB are a what If pokemon wouldn't be able to be caught.

They can't be captured (Because they are not Pokemon) so they're not able to make follow orders like pokemon and neither they can speak as of now, in a sense they are just like Zygarde Cells (Even pokemon scientists doubt if they are pokemon as they can't use moves).

They are Living beings that few about them is known and they can be good or bad but they try to adapt by imitating humans.

I would say they're neutral.

The anime is pulling the same mistake it always does, Ash lost in the Pokemon League and we'll never see ash greninja except for a cameo again LOL. Nothing unusual.

I hope it's more than just an aesthetic difference, I want the two Rockruff forms to have actual stat differences...I want some Pokemon like the starters to have a better chance at becoming competitively viable, and the efficient way you can do that is by giving two forms with differences in stats so we can put the one that is more adapted to the meta BST wise.

I like Rockruff's evo's day form, not crazy about the night form. It looks like I have to evolve Rockruff during the day...which means night since I am getting Moon.
Yeah, I don't need to say my first thought about UB-02 Beauty, do I? Expansion looks like a long lost Inzector card from Yu-Gi-Oh, which means I hate it with a burning passion (those cards were hell for my ol' Malefic Skill Drain deck to fight, so I have a immense hatred for them).
Also, so Ash is going to school since there is no league. Hopefully, he'll stop being an idiot after graduating, but I'm not holding my breath. Especially since that didn't stop many of my classmates from high school.

So remember when they said Rockruff and the starter trio shared a secret?

Yeah I hope you guys didnt reserve too early, we might get Day Night starter evos

A few thoughts:

I love both of the Lugarugan designs. Both the Wolf and Werewolf are extremely well done, and people comparing about the DBZ hair? Come on. Alder is a thing you know. I especially love the Midnight forme's sinister grin. It just looks great.

My type speculation is Midday Lugarugan is Rock/Normal and Midnight Lugarugan is Rock/Dark. I don't see why Rockruff would lose its main type, and while people might complain Normal isn't as "good" as Dark, Normal only trades a 4x Fighting weakness for an Immunity to Ghost. If D-Lugarugan gets an ability like Rock Head and can SPAM Head Smash / Double-Edge, it will still be pretty good. Would need a decent Fire or Fighting move for Steels tho.

Going on the theory the Ultra Beasts are based on the family members, UB-02 Expansion is linked with Gladion. Gladion is clearly making a "power" pose, always talking about taking people down, etc. Just like a conqueror.

As tenuous as this observation is, all the Ultra Beasts thus far are humanoids merged with invertebrate animals (Jellyfish and Insects).

I want to see what GF does with them before making a final determination. Are they like JRPG Bosses? Are they catchable? Are they plot events that for once don't revolve around you catching legendaries? Will you be able to battle them later in a simulator like they had in XD: Gale of Darkness?

I'm not going to knock it until I see the final execution. It's cool to see the franchise work in a new sentient life form that isn't human but doesn't really seem to be Pokemon either.

Fair warning, on Serebii it never said they share the same secret. Just that Rockruff and the starters all have one. So it could just be something as disappointing as the starters having specific Z-moves. Crossing fingers for split final evo though.

The ultra beasts look quite cool, and I feel they are tied to Aether and those characters somewhat. I don't think they are, but I think they mimic the look and personality of a human. I doubt they are pokemon, but we will probably battle them like pokemon or in the films in B2W2 for more epic RPG like showdowns.

Ash had a very creepy smile, and I am guessing he is getting Rowlet based on the placment. Also the green haired girl joins him. Not sure who the boy that will join him will be. Also, Lol at him going to school to be the best student there ever was haha.

The 2 forms look cool, and I like that they gave us at least 1 Day/night evo for a game focused on day night. I wonder what the difference will be. I am guessing stat and ability at the least, and typing as well at the most.

Also as for Rockruff sharing a secret with the starters, I still think that could be exclusive Z moves. Why would that final evo leak only show 1 form of them when they had 2? I mean its still possible, but I don't think they would do form changes with starters. For 1 without breeding you only get 1 of them, and what if someone accidently evolves at the wrong time, they will never want to use that starter. Starter pokemon are supposed to be the pokemon the character uses the most and has the greatest attachment to. making it that they can not get a form they like would go against that I feel. I mean it could happen but I doubt it. Its probably exclusive Z moves, which was a secret when CoroCoro said that months ago. I bet this Wednsday we will see this Wolf using an exclusive Z move to confirm this.

Hey guys, has anyone seen the translation for the part that mentions pokémon Go and alolan forms? Couldn't find anything yet.

With the UB-02 version exclusive reveal, I think we might see a sort of return of the RS(E) team dichotomy. That is: both Teams will be antagonistic, but which team comes out as the big bad villain will depend on whether we picked Sun or Moon.

I recall CoroCoro mentioning a while back that the starters share a secret with Rockruff. I think this means we're definitely getting different forms for the starters depending on time of day.

EDIT: Unless there is another gimmick to them. Kinda hope this is it, though.
It wasn't Corocoro that I recall but one of the leaks that said this, so not really something we can do anything but speculate about. But please show me if I'm wrong!

Regarding UB-02E, someone on GameFAQs remarked that it looks like a blood gorged mosquito, and apparently, only female mosquitos suck blood, mainly for the sake of their young/eggs, not nourishment, which parallels Lusamine's desire to be a mother to all types of Pokemon and possibly hints at how she might go about achieving this goal.

Well, I wasn't expecting this. Rockruff's evos look really nice. I'll be going for night version though. UB-02-Expansion looks a bit like Dr.Eggman got high and made himself a really messed up robot. UB-02-Beauty looks better. Does it mesmerise even Pokemon with no gender. How does that work?
Next month's CoroCoro promises the 'true strength' of Type: Null. I can't wait to see it, as Type: Null is one of my favourite new Pokemon. Is it going to take off its helmet and reveal the face underneath? Maybe. Until we find out, I'll be waiting for the 14th.

Oh and the anime is going to hit a new low. Ash is going to school and is going to 'graduate like never before'. God help us all.

So I have a crazy theory regarding the Ultra Beasts. I actually had this thought before the most recent leaks, but the similarity between Beauty and Lusamine really makes me think I'm on to something.

Here's the theory: that the Ultra Beats are actually humans fused with Pokemon (or humans trying to become Pokemon).

Now, what I was thinking is that this could be a very specific call back to a moment early in RBY gameplay - Bill's Cottage. The concept of fusing Pokemon and humans has not been expanded upon further since then and there is a lot of potential for misusing the power of this technology. If this were true, it would explain why the UBs are not catchable as well as how they act as boss battles - instead of fighting the antagonist' pokemon, you're actually fighting them. This also opens up the possibility of the UBs not playing by the same rules as pokemon - multiple abilities, expanded movesets, etc. as some here have speculated - without messing with the standard battle formula.

I hope I'm on to something, but either way, I'm really excited to see what they have in store for these Ultra Beasts.

Night Lugarugan would look so much better without the Eighteenth Century Style Wig worn on the neck that has an extended Staraptor part for covering the head and vision. If something makes George Washington roll in his grave and every Staraptor shudder, you should try something else.

Edit: Am I the only one reminded of George Washington?

It really bothers me that Night Lugarugan doesn't look anything like a rock-type. I'm warming up to Day form, though. It does somewhat resemble a rock-type, with the rock spikes coming out of its fur, which is also a callback to Rockruff. Its design is simple enough for me to like. But Night... just what is that thing?

The grey claw-like tips on its hair and ears look like the rocks to me.

I really like Rugarugan Hot Day form. This generation has a lot of mons that are quickly stepping on my top 10 fave of all times.
Cool Night is indeed cool, but I need to see the models before actually deciding.

Do you think it will be a Mewstick kind of deal or Cherrim (Changing depending what time it is)?

Like I and some other people have said before, I don't think Ultra Beasts are modified/mutated humans. They're most likely beasts that are simply imitating people they've bonded with and for now that's what I'm sticking with. The thought of actual human beings being turned into monsters is kinda too dark for a Pokemon game in my opinion.

At any rate, I also don't think there's enough information to safely assume anything about these Ultra Beasts so who knows really.

Gen 1 - Bill gets turned into a pokemon. You have to help change him back. Not too dark, it's already happened.

I could see them somehow by some power being changed into pokemon and then either becoming over zealous, or losing control, in their efforts to protect pokemon. Then you are tasked with "defeating" them and changing them back. And that's why you can't catch them and they're not really pokemon.

As someone who isn't a fan of most of the new Pokemon, I am pleasantly surprised by Rockruff's evolution (both forms). Looking forward to potentially seeing their models on Sept 14.
