Alola Starters Final Evos: And they're finally confirmed. To think, we've known about the Starter's final evos for months, during the early days. Many of us didn't want to believe, but as evidence built up it was looking more and more plausible. I would say this is was major leak, whatever happened GF has to be more careful if they don't want these surprises revealed before they want them to be (be it an announcement or when playing the game). As for the Starters final evos I think you know my opinions by now. Rowlet3 probably comes out the best, Litten3 I don't like as I don't feel it was appropriately built up and brings to mind the Fire/Fighting-type issue we thought we got away from, and Popplio3 feels like its trying to capture what made Fennekin popular with girls but going too far.
Pikipek Evos: Should have figured Pikipek's evolutions would change to different bird species going by the last few gen birds. Not that that's bad, but it does mean we don't have a fully evolved woodpecker Pokemon. FUN FACT: Woodpeckers and toucans are distant relatives, members of the PICIformes order (the clues were there all along!). I'm curious if the toucan final evo will keep Pikipek's woodpecker traits (rapidly pecking, burrows into trees) or they'll use the middle stage to transition the species into something toucans do (like its beak got too long but strong enough to break the hardest of berries). I'm also wondering if maybe the mid evo is also another bird, maybe a jacamar (another Piciforme who have long, thin beaks). Anyway they look fine but a bit too plain, especially the toucan final evo.
Crabrawler Evo: Yeti crab! I wasn't expecting that, then again I wasn't expecting a coconut crab either. It looks like a jolly Pokemon, and I'm guessing it has something to do with those giant fist-looking claws.
Cutiefly family: Oh man, only a 2-stage? I'm really worried its going to turn out as Alolan Ledian.
Crown-of-thorns Starfish family: Move over Staryu family, we got another (sea) star! It's always interesting to see how different they make designs for Pokemon based on similar/related animals. The Staryu family looks like star-shaped robots while this new sea star species is more like a creature with a body and head with the sea star part being its hair.
Diving Bell Spider family: Another Bug/Water-type? Alright, I don't think we needed two in one generation but its based on an interesting species of spiders so I think we can let it slide. Course it doesn't look very spider-like aside from its vague shape.
Morelull Evo: Like with Ribombee, it's certainly looking more like a fairy now. It also incorporated more of the "fairy ring" concept by having a big ol' round mushroom head. However I have a feeling there's probably more to it than we're seeing, all I can say for now it at least looks unique from the other mushroom Pokemon (which have been a possesses bug, dinosaur kangaroo, and just a big mushroom).
Salandit Evo: Oh my. And remember, it's confirmed there are male members of this species. Going by Riddler's hints, I'm guessing they went with the Cleopatra/siren route?
Wimpod Evo: Wimpod's evolution? Where? Behind that Mirelurk? BTW why is there a Mirelurk here... oh. Well I'm going to guess it's not so scared anymore (which means no more Wimp Out); this thing looks like it can give UB-02 Expansion a run for its money, and be willing to do it.
Komala: It doesn't evolve?
Turtonator: It doesn't have a prevo?
Ship's Wheel & Anchor: I'm guessing this is the Ghost/Water-type that Riddler hinted to. I got to say if people thought Klefki and the Honedge family was a bit on the nose, this one is right up the nasal cavity. Let's all wait and see what spooky/creepy description they come up for this one; I'm guessing spirits of sailor who drowned (though will be translated to "lost at sea") with maybe a reference to Davy Jones.
Gaurdian Deity: *Tilts head* So If Tapu Koko is a chicken, *squints* I'm guessing the blue one is an aquatic creature; like maybe a swordfish, dolphin, or narwhal. *Rubs eyes* the red & yellow one is I think a bull. *Stands on head* and I have no clue what the pink one is. *Falls over* Oh, and we need to assign them Oricorio secondary types, don't we? Tapu Koko is Electric, blue aquatic might be Ghost (linking it to the anchor Pokemon), red & yellow bull could be Fire, and pink ??? would be Psychic. Certainly an interesting group, both not what I was expecting but at the same time can see together. This also probably means they're all part Fairy-type. BTW, which one is the Strange Souvenir suppose to resemble?
Mascot Prevo: This wasn't a rumor I thought was going to be true, or at least not how it sounded. But after seeing them I think things are more complicate then they seem, especially since it was revealed Lillie has the cloud puff (at least in the version the leaker revealed). Of course this does bring up a question, how does the "evolution" progress? At first you'd think the sun emblem becomes Solgaleo and the cloud puff becomes Lunala, but if that's the case why aren't they before their respective evolution? Since Solgaleo has a space visor and Lunala has metal bits could it be the cloud puff "evolves" into the sun emblem and that "evolves" into either Solgaleo or Lunala? Seems like the mascot Legendaries might have a lot more involvement in the story for this generation.
Shiny Mascot Legendaries: Speaking of whom, just want to quickly comment on their Shiny sprites. Now Solgaleo looks okay, but Lunala looks a bit out of place. Like Solgaleo being red is like a star/sun, so shouldn't Lunala's colors reflect something reminiscent of the moon (and don't you bring up blood moons, because if you open up that can of worms it'll be pointed out all the different color stars can be). Like reverse it so Lunala's wings are silver and its body is black. Not that they can do anything now, I'm just saying just because they're a pair doesn't mean they need to match. Heck, you could have even kept Lunala red and made Solgaleo blue if you want to go that route (it'll match their eye color).
Ultra Beasts: I got to say the new Ultra Beasts are looking stranger and stranger, no mistaking them for Pokemon. We have one made of cables who has a Guzma's "hair", one I can only describe as having pillars for arms, one that looks like a samurai made out of straight pieces of paper, an eldritch abomination crustacean, and finally a vaguely humanoid one made from jagged obsidian with blades coming out of its long arms. If you thought UB-02 Expansion was going to be a fight... Oh, and about them being Shiny thus "catchable". As said, them having a Shiny Form could be to prevent the game from crashing if someone tries forcing a Shiny UB (and instead of use the same model the designers thought to have some fun). The props and characters from PokeStar Studios in BW2 that you battled also had Shiny versions, so it's not like this hasn't been done before. Now do I know or a fact they'll be uncatchable? No, for all I know they are. However I'm just saying just cause they have a Shiny form doesn't mean you can catch them; also if you can catch them why make them separate from Pokemon then?
Magearna: Magearna's original Poke Ball coloration is going to be in the games, I'm guessing as a special event version like they did with the Poke Ball Vivillon. Shame the shiny version of its doesn't look like a Master Ball. :P
Marshadow: And finally the unknown trademark makes its appearance... and it wasn't what I was expecting. It more looks like the Legendary's prevo making me wonder if there isnt more Pokemon we don't know about (there was suppose to be a dolphin and snowman Pokemon unless that was false into to throw us off). Something doesn't seem quite right.
