Quicksand eh? Could be a new move, or it could simply be the new continuing damage for Sand Tomb text.

i checked again, it's probably sand tomb. it's right next to whirlpool(vortex), fire spin(fiery vortex) and magma storm(swirling magma).

so maybe an animation change to go with the text update.

So is anybody else still hoping that we get a dolphin pokemon? Or is all hop lost for it? It was said that they did scrub the demo, and we did get a lot out of the demo so I'm hoping that they got rid of a few things and we didn't see everything yet.

i assume the dolphin is Tapu Ghost. it takes the traits of both narwhals and swordfish.

or maybe the Chinese leaker simply looked at Tapu Ghost and went, 'narwhal', and wrote it in chinese but was translated as 'dolphin.'

With the revelation of the UltraBeast ball, I wonder if our post-game will include battling and catching the UltraBeasts (sorta like finding the Plasma sages in BW or locating any roaming legendaries). Also, and this may be my way of coping, but what if UltraBeasts are catchable but not useable? As in, you encounter them like a pokemon, you fight them like a pokemon, you catch them like a pokemon, but upon capture they cannot be sent out again, but rather get transferred to a lab/place for safekeeping/sending back?

In my mind that would be a sufficient explanation for UltraBeasts having shiny images as well as what are probably the Pokedex/Pokecenter images, as for all intents and purposes for coding, they are Pokemon. I'd imagine that it wouldn't be too hard to code the UltraBeasts as a new type with a 0% catch rate with any other ball except the UBBall (we already have varying catch rate ball based on type in the Net Ball). And then, once captured and registered (I'm imagining the Rotomdex is going to have a section on them once we find out what they are) there's a piece of code that says if its an UltraBeast, send directly to Kukui's lab or marks the occupied UBBall as a essential non-usable item that we have to take somewhere.

I don't know if I'm right or not, but if the theory that UltraBeasts have some semblence of near human intelligence is true, and that they in fact can masquerade as people, we would be in some dubious ethical territory, and I'm sure that Pokemon being a game for kids would like to avoid.

Has there been any updates on how many new abilities there are?
They get cut off at 6138 16138 with 39 n/a lines

So, I don't recall the message the game gives you when you use Feint, but if thats not it or a rephrasing of it, this could support the Z-move breaking through protect and detect.

Edit: Nevermind, just saw that shadow force does this.

Could be Shadow Force or that lower BP version of it that random ghost types get

I'm sorry but this part of your post made me burst into laughter. Pokemon has been crudely described(jokingly or otherwise) as a game where you enslave animals and force them to fight for your pleasure, something which I may remind you is seen as highly unethical in the real world and not only that, but is also outright illegal(go try and create a animal fighting competition and see what happens to you lol), so to draw some sort of weird ethical line now is absolutely hilarious.

Also btw, the excuse(which is terrible, but lets roll with it) that GF gave us in the games(BW in particular) for Pokemon enslavement and cockfighting being justifiable is because Pokemon were highly intelligent creatures who WANTED to be caught and WANTED to battle in order to become stronger, since according to them, they could just leave anytime they wanted. The same BS excuse is going to apply to Ultra Beasts.

This is feints in battle text so yeah guard break is looking more plausible for the "failed to fully protect itself" line can't wait to see what it is

As near human intelligent beings that can masquarade as humans, we have zoroark, it fits all this , and we can catch zoroark. Dragonite is said to be around human inteligence level, alakazam has an over 5000 IQ. We dont know if ultra beasts can disguise as humans, it might be they tried to create a pokemon that was perfect to Lillie, guzma, etc, so that they designed pokemon that would be made in lab to look like their trainers. If you look to anime, you see that many trainers dress like their pokemon, or have haircuts that look like their pokemon, so wanting a pokemon that looks like you is not something weird in pokemon world. But the things went terrible wrong, ultra beasts became too powerful and agressive, impossible to catch with a regular pokeball. So, arceus banished them to distortion world before they ended all life in world. But ultra beasts started to come back from distortion world, so that they tried to recreate arceus, the only pokemon that could do something against ultra beasts, that why type null/silvally were created. Well, thats my theory, to people that are so sure that ultra beasts are people.

No, thats actually the text for feint attack. The ones that break through protect use that "failed to fully protect itself", at least shadow force does, just found it on a showdown translation =[

But this 'burned itself out!' I couldn't find in any previous transcription, and the fact that it is just above the new moves might imply its a new move that has a drawback, like HJK.

Yeah but these Ultra Beasts go around FUNCTIONING AS HUMANs. As in atm, it seems like they can live indefinitely as a human being. That's not the same as Zoroark disguising or having high IQ

Don't know if Popplio3 is a counter of SD/CB Acrobatics Talonflame, I don't see the flying resist anywhere.
I'll admit to not following the talonflame metagame here, but Queenly Majesty would prevent the Acrobatics from going off at all since it stops priorty moves and if you're running talonflame you're probably running gale wings.

(also would you use choice band acrobatics...?)

I don't think they're actually functioning as humans, though?

UB-01 in particular is described as its movements resembling a girl and
While evidence of something like a survival instinct can be observed in UB-01, no one knows whether it has a will of its own or any emotions.

Beauty is just described as using hypnosis to make pokemon give up and kicking strikes. Absorption just talks about its power.

There's no proof these things can actively function as a human. There's clearly some importance towards them resembling Lillie, Lusamine, etc, but there's not been any proof that they are those characters or can pass off as them any better than Zoroark (who has been shown to perfectly emulate human appearance & speech) could.

Well, I've told it before, I'll tell it again. I'm a firm believer that humans in the Pokémon world are Pokémon that evolved through time in different ways than other Pokémon, and now dominate the others.
