Postgame Acid City's Trouble CO-1 [Endgame: Smugglers & Vodoo Win!]

Okay, Random Question Sequence incoming. (Not all of these will be in the form of a question.)

1. Name a scenario where Policy Lynch is a bad idea.
2. Player A claims a unique role on Day X. The next day, Player B makes a counterclaim. How do you respond?
3. What's the most likely scenario in which you would strongly disagree with your strongest townread?
4. And the inverse of the above: what's the most likely scenario in which you would strongly agree with your strongest scumread?
5. Out of a total of 100, assign percentage values to the importance of these 4 things: power roles, scumhunting, teamwork, luck. (Pie chart optional.)
6. Does Ad Hominem ever work as a means of scumhunting? Why or why not?
7. What mafia-related buzzword/phrase would you love to remove altogether from mafia games?

1. Policy Lynch is always a bad idea.
2. I respond depending on what's happened so far.
3. It depends on results/gameplay/person
4. ^
5. Power Roles 20% Scumhunting 20% Teamwork 15% Luck 45%
6. Wtf is Ad Hominem
7. Does it matter?

7. What mafia-related buzzword/phrase would you love to remove altogether from mafia games?
1. "Hey guys, I've got a guilty on billymills"

"yeah but zorbees doesnt have a real avatar"

2. Generally trust the first claim more unless there's good reason for the delay. I once counter-claimed as cop on a fake cop 2 days after they claimed, but since it was so unbelievable a play to make as mafia and I was universally town read, it ended up working.

3. This happens often. I'm good at townreading newer players and they're often my strongest town reads. They're also players I'm going to listen to if they're trying to argue with me about a read. Just because I think someone's town doesn't mean I think they're right.

4. I often scumread players for talking too much about meta. I might agree with someone's statement on how to play the meta, but asking the question of "why is this person spending so much time thinking about x" often contributes to a scumread.

5. Depends on the set up. In this one, power roles 50% scumhunting 40% teamwork 2% luck 8%. You just need enough teamwork to not kill each other to win.

6. It's way easier to get a read on someone who's emotional than one who isn't. If getting them mad with an ad hominem gets us there, then go for it.

7. WIM is dumb. Why is there an acronym for trying hard.

mfw assholes who answered KoC's RQS and not mine are not being lynched for their blatantly obvious scum behavior.

Fuck I forgive you all.

1. When you policy lynch an innocent child.
2. Lynch one, if flip town vig or lynch the other. If not, proceed.
3. When they are making bad decisions
4. When they are making good reads
5. 20/20/20/40
6. No, result too unreliable.
7. What mafia-related buzzword/phrase would you love to remove altogether from mafia games?

Would like to hear KoC own answers to his questions.
Scumread on King_ for suspicious post padding.

Wew, Pokemon Sun too strong.

1. Policy lynches are poor culture, and are usually just incorrect, but it doesn't excuse poor behavior just because they know they won't get lynched for it
2. In context, Player B was probably waiting for evidence (another night of targeting and results, maybe) or not wanting to start a 50-50 when we have a lynch on confscum. I respond not by the order of claims, but how their play and evidence informs my read on them.
3. When my strongest townread is an idiot. Nah, but really cleaniness and agreement are two very different things and this usually happens when I read a genuine tone but don't have a good read by association/votes
4. When Scum is busing. :P Nah, really it's usually me being wrong or buddied when that happens.
5. 100 Scumhunting, 0 everything else because scumhunting informs how you use your other tools and mitigates luck.
6. Yes, but I hate it when people do it around here because they the people being attacked tend to feel legitimately insulted or intimidated which has made for a few very bad games in the recent past.
7. OMGUS, very played.

Well this activity is not really helping. If I can predict DLE's responses then that means he can probably write them as either alignment, and none of these questions really seem to inform anything.

Knights seems to be trying to adapt to our meta and play to our playerlist's sensibilities which is about the only thing in here I could even try to say is alignment indicative (breaks a little town for it). What were your golas with these questions? did you get anything out of it? What are your answers? unvote

/unvote

I find that RQS is a good way for me to get initial reads on D1. It's my usual starting point for scumhunting (though I try to make it a non alignment indicative behavior, since it'd be a pretty big scumtell otherwise). I do answer my own RQSes, but I prefer to wait until at least half the players have answered, since I have a little unfounded paranoia about players who answer after me possibly parroting my responses.

1. Name a scenario where Policy Lynch is a bad idea.

TBH, no idea what a policy lynch is, so..sure?

2. Player A claims a unique role on Day X. The next day, Player B makes a counterclaim. How do you respond?
I think it depends alot on the context, just that by itself is rather NAI since town/scum can really claim in any order and there are situations where it would be justified. That said, if there are literal days apart between claims, I would probably hold the second claim to be more towny, unless it seems like it was made in desperation to avoid being lynched. (ie "Don't lynch me I'm (role)!")

3. What's the most likely scenario in which you would strongly disagree with your strongest townread?
If I thought they were making stupid choices. Or if the person I was town reading was thinking I was scum *cough* last game *cough*.

4. And the inverse of the above: what's the most likely scenario in which you would strongly agree with your strongest scumread?
If they were making logical sense. As a practice I don't like to take things as 100% unless I am 100% sure, usually through a power role or logic so I try to never automatically assume guilt.

5. Out of a total of 100, assign percentage values to the importance of these 4 things: power roles, scumhunting, teamwork, luck. (Pie chart optional.)
Hm, probably something like 40% power roles, 10% scumhunting, 45% luck and 5% teamwork. There's not really too much rationale behind that, other than I trust in results and logic and don't often have a lot of faith in scumhunting, oh, also luck. Yeah that's a thing.

6. Does Ad Hominem ever work as a means of scumhunting? Why or why not?
It sort of can I suppose, but in my opinion being too mean is just poor sport regardless of alignment.

7. What mafia-related buzzword/phrase would you love to remove altogether from mafia games?
All of them.

7. What mafia-related buzzword/phrase would you love to remove altogether from mafia games?

1. When you lynch someone for accidentally and saying scumchat over beighboorhood chat.

2. Very situational based on what they claimed. I would ask player b for the reasoning behind why they waited to claim.

3. If I found they were implicated by associations to other dead scum or they claim something I doubt would be in the set-up.

4. If they cc whatever role I have Wouldn't it be the same answer as the previous question?

5. 5% Luck, 40% PRs, 20% teamwork, 35% Scum Hunting, and 50% concentrated power of will.

6. No. Not at all.

7. Buzzwords are fun. We need more!

Pinky of Suspicion: King Going from semi-fluffy to a contradictory "hey, let's just lynch that guy" doesn't seem very townie. (Then again, it doesn't really seem like sensible scumplay, either.)

6 is technically half of 13, so...

1. I find that there are rarely any situations where Policy Lynch doesn't hurt Town as much or more than it helps Town. I'll put my foot down if a player's behavior is severely disrupting the game, but otherwise I don't support PL.
2. Try to get more information from both players, including the reason for the delay.
3. If they're planning or suggesting a gambit or some other type of action that has low odds of success.
4. If it looks like we've both identified an anti-Town 3rd party. Though I'd have to keep in mind whether the player I'm agreeing with has made a separate and seemingly accurate read or is just parroting my own read.
5. 25% power roles, 30% scumhunting, 30% teamwork, 15% luck.
6. In my experience, Ad Hominem is shorthand for "bullshit excuse to Policy Lynch the Village Idiot" (and is detrimental to VIs trying to improve their skills and ditch the VI label).
7. Ad Hominem, for the reason listed above.

Oh wow seriously nothing has started yet? Alright let Dentri at it.

Townlean on Cancerous, King_ and KnightsofCydonia for trying to get discussion moving.

Scumlean on Da Letter El, Blazade, and Former Hope for giving such perfect well thought out answers on questions that are to give initial good impressions.

Clearly we are in need of an extension so we can continue contributing scumhunting in the most efficient manner.

/vote extension

Who am I kidding you scrubs are going to idle the extension away too. So it is time for drastic measure.

shubaka17 You have been chosen to receive Cancerous Random Pressure Effect, or CancerRaPE for short.
Post to receive an unvote, or lube yourself up and prepare for entry.

King did not tagged shubaka17 in his posts. Simple mistake, next level buddying, or some reverse psychology bullshit. I cannot decide what it was. Discuss, loyal subjects.

Scumreads is now on not King_, shubaka17.
