Team Fortess 2 Discussion

Fuck... Team Fortress 2, I know I misspelled it in the title.

Because it seems like the cool thing to do is to start a discussion thread on certain games, I'd like to open the table for discussion(s) on Team Fortress 2.

Team Fortress 2 is a mod that uses the Half-Life 2 engine that's based on team (go figure) oriented game play. The original game was popular but was quickly overshadowed by it's more popular cousin Counter-Strike. If you've played the original, the major changes you'll notice is the absence or grenades and armor, apart from that there's just been minor ability changes. It's scheduled to be released October 10 on the PC, however if you pre-purchase the game you can actually play in the beta right away. It will also make it's way to the Xbox 360, and PS3 soon after.

The game types I've seen thus far (remember it's only beta) are: Capture the Intelligence ( Capture the Flag more or less) Capture/ defend points, and then open point claim. The last two are similar, in the latter the points are up for claim and can be reclaimed after they've been captured, in the former you have 2 points that you're either defending or capturing and once they've been captured they cannot be reverted.

The main lure of the game (well for me at least) is that when you jump in the game you get to pick 1 of 9 character classes. The game is fast paced and if you die you simply can stick with that class or change your class. The classes are as follows: Scout, Sniper, Solder, Spy, Medic (my personal favorite), Heavy Weapons Guy, Demolition Man, Pyro, and Engineer.

What I love about this game is the variety of options you have available to you, your game plan is constantly changing with every death. Is a sentry gun constantly fucking you over? Switch to a spy and zap the gun. Spies got you down? See if they like being on fire.

I'm completely addicted to this game and it's seriously devoured my Halo 3 playing time. If anyone wishes to discuss the game or ask any questions feel free to ask. I'm also always looking for a good target to heal in the game so if you want to get together put your Steam ID in the thread or PM me.

orange box is well worth it. portal is the greatest "mini" game i've ever played (i say mini because it is only ~2 hrs long).

as for TF2, i really enjoy it. the games are fast paced and the combat is frantic. the unique art style makes the game look fantastic, and the gameplay actually fosters teamwork. plus there are no real "useless" classes. really, my only complaint thus far is the fact that there are only like 9 playable maps, with no objective configurations. 2fort is always ctf, 2hydro is always cp (iirc), etc.

anyways, let's get some steam IDs in here. mine is aamto12.

I got the orange box about a week or two ago and it's soooo much fun. TF2 is awesome. Add me guys, Steam ID is FirestormXVI.

I usually play Medic. Sometimes Pyro or Engineer. I'm not that good at the rest.

Got TF2 a while ago and I've played it heaps, mostly as the Heavy and Demoman. If you want to add me, my Steam ID is eviltoast13.

does TF2 have like a single player or local multiplayer mode that doesn't require online? like playing against bots? or is it necessary to have Xbox live or tons of controllers?

If you're getting it on 360, it's only available through The Orange Box. Team Fortress 2 itself is only multiplayer. No bots. However, the other four games included in the Orange Box are all single-player games. Half-Life 2, Half-Life 2: Episode 1, Half-Life 2: Episode 2, and Portal are all top-ranked 9+/10 games.

Oh and don't do stupid shit like bumping a topic an hour after asking a question... I'd say "This isn't GameFAQs" but you shouldn't even do that on GameFAQs.

I also just got the pc version of the game:)
my Steam ID is Andeby

But i cant play with you americans without massive lag i guess:(

TF 2 is one of my favorite multi-player games. Orange Box is quite possibly one of the best deal ever offered. Its well worth the money.
