Checks: Mega Pinsir, Gengar
Counter: Mimikyu, Marowak-A
Counter: Mimikyu, Marowak-A
That's not the right calcs. You used Metagross instead of M-Metagross with Tough Claws. Here's the correct calc:Rotom-Wash as a Counter
Rotom-Wash @ Leftovers
Ability: Levitate
EVs: 248 HP / 240 Def / 20 SpD
Bold Nature
IVs: 0 Atk
- Volt Switch
- Hydro Pump
- Will-O-Wisp
- Pain Split
Defensive Rotom-Wash is able to take on Mega Metagross fairly easily whenever it switches since its typing gives a nifty 4x resists Mega-Metagross' Meteor Mash. Mega Metagross does the most damage with Zen Headbutt shown in the calc below but its 3HKOish with Rocks and a 4HKO without them.
252 Atk Metagross Zen Headbutt vs. 248 HP / 240+ Def Rotom-Wash: 93-111 (30.6 - 36.6%) -- 65% chance to 3HKO after Stealth Rock and Leftovers recovery
252 Atk Metagross Zen Headbutt vs. 248 HP / 240+ Def Rotom-Wash: 93-111 (30.6 - 36.6%) -- guaranteed 4HKO after Leftovers recovery
Rotom-Wash can force Mega Metagross out by threatening it with a burn, go for volt switch to allow a scarfer like Garchomp or Keldeo to switch into Metagross and threaten it out or go directly for a Hydro Pump which is a pretty secure 2HKO with Rocks up:
0 SpA Rotom-Wash Hydro Pump vs. 0 HP / 0 SpD Metagross: 135-160 (44.8 - 53.1%) -- 88.3% chance to 2HKO after Stealth Rock
Rotom-Wash doesn't possess good enough reliable recovery to deal with Mega-Gross over and over throughout a match, especially if the opposing player uses Zen Headbutt on the switch-in, but it is more like a counter since it can switch-in and beat Mega-Metagross 1v1.
Whoops thats totally my bad, thanks for the catch! I'll rewrite that in a second. That's not the right calcs. You used Metagross instead of M-Metagross with Tough Claws. Here's the correct calc:
252 Atk Tough Claws Metagross-Mega Zen Headbutt vs. 248 HP / 240+ Def Rotom-Wash: 127-151 (41.9 - 49.8%) -- 26.6% chance to 2HKO after Stealth Rock and Leftovers recovery
Because of that, Rotom-W is more of a check than a counter.
Also, I'm taking Quagmire as a hard check/counter.
