Funfact about Dugtrio that I noticed

I cought a shiny diglet a while back, naughty, good iv's but... It had sand veil. A shiny is a shiny and in my eyes is cooler to use.I trained it and still use it. Its gotten lols from me

Anyways.

Sand veil, guess what? In a SS team it may be preferable. Because people never try to switch out because they know virtually all duggys carry arena trap. Not a single person has found i have sand veil because they assume powder etc. No one tries to switch.

There is indeed a trap message. Unless your opponent is retarded, they would switch out. Really, the only reasons people even use the moles is because of their high speed, and, mainly because of arena trap. Take away arena trap and you've got a POS.

I don't think there was an Arena Trap message in ADV (or atleast NB), but there definatly is in DP, or atleast on Shoddy, which I noticed yesterday when I was using a Trapinch on my Trick Room team. Sandveil Duggy was a kind of interesting idea in Advance, but yeah, it's not even really a possibility anymore with the trap message, and besides, even if it was an option, you're risking losing your revenge killing ability if your opponent catche son just for 20% evasion, which doesn't really seem worth it

Well, the only reason to use Sand Veil would be in the hope that an opponent misses an attack. The problem with that is:

a) Dugtrio will probably never be taking any attacks.
b) If Sand Veil does pay off, and the opponent misses a 100% accurate move, then the cat is out the bag and they're just gonna switch to Skarmory/Hippo/Donphan/Tangowth/Cress etc.

Did Sand Veil exist in ADV? I don't think it did >_>

Anyways, like some other people said, without Arena Trap duggy is garbage (unlike, say, Heatproof Bronzong, who is still decent). Even if they don't notice the lack of a trap message, the game is probably out if an attack does miss against Dugtrio, so you've used up Duggy's one advantage and it's basically dead weight from there on out.

Sand Veil did exist btw :D

There is no message saying 'X is trapped!' unless your opponent is trying to switch out. That's what you're saying.

no way would it be preferable, a smart player would try to switch anyway, especially in your case against a shiny on wifi. you want to dodge attacks, use Garchomp imo. Use clouds Brightpowder / Substitute set and make your opponent want to behead you ahaha

Sand Veil DID exist back in ADV. It just wasn't good since the best thing that got it was probably Sandslash...

I remember using Sand Veil Duggy on NB for a while. It lasted a quite a few battles before someone tried switching out. Only then did I realize Sand Veil was the default option and I promptly changed it. =D

How many of you actually try switching out of a Dugtrio knowing full well it had Arena Trap? That's the feeling I'm getting from reading all you people post about it.

Sand veil was Cacturne's unique ability...the computer had Brightpowder Cacturnes in The Gamecube games, and that had always been the reason Cacturne takes no damage from sandstorm.

Message or no, every seasoned battler tries switching to check-- ESPECIALLY if sandstorm is up. Not because it's likely duggy has veil, but just because there's no cost to check and it'd be stupid not to.

It's the same with Bronzong - you can try to run heatproof because no one uses EQ on it as levitate is it's standard trait - until they hit you with a fire attack...

But Heatproof Bronzong can actually be worthwhile if you already have some decent Ground immunities on your team, but a Fire weakness, and you don't want to ditch Bronzong because it's Bronzong. (I used a mono Bronzong team on Shoddy once)

Sand Veil Dugtrio is, as most other people said, just plain garbage.
