Before I begin, I've noticed that there was a thread similar to this one maybe a week ago, but I've been planning to have this thread for a while, and after reading every single post in that thread, I felt that there might have been some confusion between the most used and most threatening pokemon. Also, some of the best contenders weren't even represented on that poll, so I felt that I should post this.
Okay so here we go. This is basically a poll of the 9 pokemon I feel are the most threatening in the current (OU) metagame that we have. The 10th spot will be for other pokemon not represented and if you pick that option, please state what you think it is and why. Note that this is not only a poll but a discussion on which pokemon you think deserves the most votes so please don't post stuff like, "Salamence, end all." That doesn't really contribute so please explain why you chose the option that you did if you decide to post.
Here are the nine pokemon I picked and why:
(In national dex order)
1. (094) Gengar- really versitile, can break stall easily, and has some awesome support moves to along with an easy-to use ability.
2. (130) Gyarados- Gyara's a very scary pokemon nowadays, and it's sweeping potential(DD) with it's great typing makes it a huge threat.
3. (214) Heracross- One dimensional but it has 2 awesome stab moves, pursuit, and access to swords dance.
4. (248) Tyranitar- Very versitile, arguably the most ground breaking ability in OU, STAB pursuit, can DD to sweep.
5. (373) Salamence- Very versitile, STAB on draco meteor, can use Dragon Dance to sweep, and has deadly mixed sets
6. (376) Metagross- Can be versitile with EVing, rarely sweeps teams but picks them apart with it's CB sets, has pursuit and explosion at it's disposal
7. (392) Infernape- Very versitile, great late game sweeper, and breaks stall pretty easily. Has access to Swords Dance and Nasty Plot.
8. (445) Garchomp- Can be versitile but does best late game with it's swords dance and choice scarf sets. Can also utilize Outrage with CB, and Draco Meteor with life orb.
9. (461) Weavile- Great speed coupled with great attack. Can be a great revenge killer with Pursuit, Ice shard, etc. It can use Swords Dance to sweep once the opportunity arises.
10. Other--------There were many great Pokemon that I couldn't include on this list; some being: Togekiss, Heatran, Azelf, Porygon-Z, etc. Some of these weren't included because I felt they didn't pose as much of a threat as some of the others, and some of these need a bit more support to set up a sweep.
As for my vote, I'm still undecisive lol, too many arguements with myself.....
Anyways, have fun and let's see who comes out on top. :D
