Deoxys-e Discussion Thread

With the Deoxys-e Cup going on, we need some Deoxys discussion. While I have participated in many debates about it on shoddy, I have not yet seen and threads discussing it in full. The purpose of this thread is now to discuss possible Deoxys-e move sets or and interesting encounters you have had involving Deoxys-e. Currenty, what im using it this.

Revenge Killing Specs Guy
Deoxys-e @ Choice Specs
Modest 4hp 252spatk 252speed
- Psycho Boost
- Grass Knot
- Thunderbolt
- HP Ice

Is really fast and can ohko a lot of things.

What other sets are out there?
 
Particularly, I'd be much more interested if a Smogon moderator could come in and say "its okay to discuss Deoxys-E for OU now". No point discussing it if over here it isn't considered OU.
 
The problem with the set the OP posted is that is will be ravaged by the Pursuit users of OU, with Weavile and Tyranitar in particular. Frankly, any Deoxys-S that doesn't have Superpower or a special Fighting move is weak to them. Personally, I'm partial to:
Deoxys-S@Life Orb
Rash/Mild 20 Atk / 252 SpAtk / 236 Spd
~Thunderbolt / Calm Mind
~Ice Beam
~Recover
~Superpower
This set makes very good use of Deoxys-S's remarkable Speed, as the EVs are designed to outspeed max speed Adamant Choice Scarf Garchomp. Superpower is essentially mandatory for the afore-mentioned Pursuit users and Blissey. Ice Beam is just a good attack for the D/P metagame, while Thunderbolt works off the facts that it complements Ice well and that this Deoxys is capable of outspeeding a twice DDed BulkyGyara. Sometimes, one might elect to eschew Thunderbolt for Calm Mind and more power to Ice Beam, though; Fighting/Ice is still a cool combination. Recover just gets rid of residual damage.
 
you also need a phsyical fighting attack on there because otherwise blissey just walls you to death...

now why would you just waste deoxys when you could have magikarp filling that roll

If IIRC Deoxys can learn Ice Beam making Hp Ice a waste.
 
I don't think Dugtrio can OHKO. This isn't Deoxys-A, people. IIRC Deoxys-E has 50/90/90 defenses.

Anyways, in standard, yeah, a Choice Specs revenge-killing set is the best imo. Psycho Boost is insanely powerful on anything not resisting.
 
50/90/90 defenses are okay, but when there's no EVs put into any of the defenses it kinda does get OHKOed.
 
choice band sucker punch does Damage: 95.02% - 111.62%. so with entry hazards then it most likely will be a ko, but deoxys does have a chance of surviving.

In standards stealth rock reigns supreme though, almost every team has it, so Deoxys-S still has to switch into that which will allow a clean OHKO from sucker punch after that.
 
Deoxys-E switching into Stealth Rocks: 12.5%
Dugtrio switching into Spec'd Psycho Boost: 175.94% - 207.08%
Dugtrio surviving and Sucker Punching Deoxys: Priceless.
 
that was the point

that's what dugtrio is supposed to do

you can't switch dugtrio into anything unless it resists it, otherwise...it's pretty much a OHKO on a stick
 
As cool as that set looks, what's the deal with Deoxys-S in standard? What's next, are we gonna bring in Groudon? This may not be the place to ask, but I thought I'd try.

This is the THIRD topic on Deoxys-S in two weeks. Basically, the conclusion was it can serve as a faster version of Dugtrio sans trap.

Deoxys-S has lower than average stats other than Speed. He's really not that gamebreaking, unless you like running Agility to negate even paralysis.

That set is sexy, anyways I can see this guy easily becoming ou.
 
I've faced one in the Shoddybattle tournament, and I have to say that while it isn't too bad, that its most definately not uber.
As MoP said, I've been meaning to try a Spiking/Supporter set.
252 HP/Rest of EV's depend on what attacks you use.
Spikes
Knock Off/Taunt/Thunder Wave
Recover
Seismic Toss/Night Shade/Psychic/Ice Beam

Spikes in conjunction with one of its great support moves, even with no Speed EV's still outspeeds every non choice scarf pokemon barring Electrode (lol!) and Ninjask, whom would outspeed you anyway after a single Protect. Anyway I haven't got round to using this yet, but it seems pretty fun.
 
i like this deoxys as a support pokemon it has the fastest knock off /T-wave/taunt/spikes/stealth/screen set up in the game and recover and decent enough defenses to pull it off
