Pokemon: Rotom-Fan

BST: 50 / 65 / 105 / 105 / 105 / 86 (BST: 520)
Abilities: Levitate
New Moves: Moonblast
Removed Moves: Air Slash
With only this one little type change, Rotom-Fan goes from mediocre to incredible. This new typing gives a whopping 5 resistance to our beloved fan, and leave him with only one ridiculous weakness to poison — aka worst offensive typing of history. It also gets two useful immunities to dragon and ground. Finally, it gets a really good STAB; Moonblast. Other than that, you don't need to change anything on rotom, since it already has great stats and an incredible support movepool.

Now I have to justify fairy type. You know Raijin, that japanese thunder god who always have some kind of lightning drums behind him? Well, Rotom's fan looks a lot like those drums. Gods and powerful spririts are usually represented with fairy type (think Tapus), that's why it make sense. Kind of.

Sample moveset:
Rotom-Fan @ Leftovers
Ability : Levitate
EVs : 252 HP / 252 Def / 4 Spe
Bold Nature
- Moonblast
- Volt Switch
- Pain Split / Will-O-Wisp
- Defog / Will-O-Wisp

Electric.png

BST: 90 (+30) / 80 / 80 (-30) / 50 / 80 / 145 (+100) (BST: 525 (+100))
Abilities: Rock Head / Lightning Rod / (Sheer Force)
New Moves: Zing Zap / U-turn / Thunder Wave
Marowak is now a fast and powerful pivot thanks to the Thick Club, Sheer Force and 100 more speed. It has a pretty good coverage and the access to intersesting pivot moves like Stealth Rock and Thunder Wave.

Since marowak already had lightning rod, I felt that electric type wasn't too much of a stretch.

Sample moveset:
Marowak @ Thick Club
Ability : Sheer Force
EVs : 4 HP / 252 Atk / 252 Spe
Adamant Nature
- Earthquake
- Zing Zap
- U-turn
- Fire Punch / Stealth Rock / Thunder Wave

I'm probably not going to do a dragon/electric sub since I really want stitch98's dragonite to win this slate

Pokemon: Dunsparce
Type:
electric.gif
dragon.gif

BST: 150 (+50) / 100 (+30) / 95 (+25) / 65 / 95 (+30) / 45 (BST: 550)
Abilities: Serene Grace / Volt Absorb / Galvanize
New Moves: Dragon Tail, Dragon Dance, Electric Terrain
Niche: Dunsparce now has a lot of bulk and more resistances. It could probably work as a pivot, a status spreader with Glare and maybe it could even utilize DD and Coil for some offensive sets.

Dunsparce @ Leftovers
Ability: Galvanize
EVs: 252 Atk / 4 SpD / 252 Spe
Jolly Nature
- Dragon Dance
- Return
- Dragon Rush
- Roost

BST: 83 / 69 (-20) / 71 / 173 / 71 / 103 (+20) (BST: 570)
Abilities: Beast Boost / Dazzling / Analytic
New Moves: ---
Niche: Xurkitree now has a better typing and a nice Speed tier. It basically does the same thing as before but better. Z-Hypnosis or Z-Rain Dance sets can be protected from priority attacks by Dazzling and Scarf sets might be actually a viable option.

Xurkitree @ Fairium Z
Ability: Beast Boost
EVs: 252 SpA / 4 SpD / 252 Spe
Timid Nature
IVs: 0 Atk
- Tail Glow
- Thunderbolt
- Dazzling Gleam
- Hidden Power [Ice]

I feel a better set for Dunsparce could be

Dunsparce @ Leftovers
Ability: Volt Absorb
EVs: 252 HP / 252 SpDef / 4 Atk
Careful Nature
- Dragon Tail
- Earthquake
- Coil
- Roost

Shows off the improved bulk quite a bit better (after all, if you have 150/95/95 bulk, might as well use it rather than trying to buff a 45 base Speed.) Another thing to note about your Dunsparce is that Serene Grace is still a great option, since it has Wild Charge if you're desperate for Electric physical STAB.

Good subs!

Why Galvanize without a normal move? At that point, just use Volt Absorb to block Volt Switch.

Pokemon: Probopass
Type: Electric/Ground
Old BST: 60 / 55 / 145 / 75 / 150 / 40 (525)
New BST: 75 / 55 / 145 / 105 / 150 / 40 (570)
Abilities: Magnet Pull | Levitate | Sand Force
New Moves: Shore Up, Rapid Spin, Spikes
Justification/Niche: This Electric/Ground Probopass's main role is to trap Steel-types and deal super-effective damage to them, while resisting their moves. Compared to other Steel trappers, Probopass is still weaker and slower than Magnezone, but it makes up for it with STAB, recovery and way more bulk. It has another option in Levitate, getting rid of one weakness, and becoming immune to Spikes/Toxic Spikes/Sticky Webs so it can function as a great hazard control. Yet another option is a Sand-team oriented set with a stronger Shore Up and Sand Force, but this seems not as viable as the other two.
Sample moveset:
Probopass @ Leftovers
Ability: Magnet Pull
EVs: 248 HP / 252 Def / 8 SpD
Bold Nature
IVs: 0 Atk
- Shore Up
- Earth Power
- Volt Switch
- Taunt / Stealth Rock

Probopass @ Leftovers

IVs: 0 Atk

Hey guys, voting's open now! Bit later than I planned, but I forgot until right now.

Remember to vote for typings AS WELL as Pokemon! Please vote for both if you can - I won't force everyone to vote for everything if they can't decide, but it a lot easier if we get lots of votes so I don't end with two-three tiebreakers like last time ^^;

Here's the voting setup:

Electric/Ground: Someone's Pokemon
Electric/Dragon: Someone's Pokemon
Electric/Fairy: Someone's Pokemon

Psychic Secondary Typings: Type 1 / Type 2 / Type 3

The following Secondary typings are unavailable:
Ghost
Poison
Rock
Pure Psychic
Grass

Be wary of this next part, info may be wrong/bad since its 10:30 and I'm not perfectly knowledgeable.
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
The next slate also will be delayed due to a certain event going on that has us in it: Pet Mods Grand Slam!
View it here: https://www.smogon.com/forums/threads/pet-mods-grand-slam.3632705/
Now, I'll admit, I'm not exactly fully aware of everything going on with it myself, but SolarBlade is, so once he's back he'll make a much more comprehensive response to it all. However, here's the major line here to take out of it:
If you can't tell what that means, I don't either, but it means that we've got something going on... on the 28th. Woag.
I have a few plans that I would like to try, including a slate allowing us to fix previously submitted entries for ones we feel are too strong/too weak (Available to everyone, encouraging testing), among others, but I'd love to hear everyone's thoughts right now on thingies going on. Maybe one of you has more information on Pet Mods Grand Slam than I do and can inform me on this.
EXTRA EDIT: Since I'm terrible at remembering things, PSYCHIC SLATE next!
even more extra edit: Voting closes on the 6th.
Typings for what? I mean, what is the common typing?
Also, most of the other pet mods involved into the Grand Slam are taking a hiatus to playtest and balance their metagames, so the type of slate you proposed sound like a good idea.
I think it should be the 7th in every timezone now?
Anyway congrats to the winners, Cookie Butter's Electric/Ground Probopass, Jucherz 's Electric/Dragon Dunsparce and Gravity Monkey 's Electric/Fairy Rotom-Fan!
The winners of the Psychic is Normal, Ground and Fighting.
That said, we'll take a short break from the slates for now and focus on the upcoming Pet Mods Grand Slam.
As PrincessGardevoir mentioned, here are some links regarding the upcoming event-
(PMGS thread here: https://www.smogon.com/forums/threads/pet-mods-grand-slam.3632705/)
So for now, we it's best to start testing out teams in the Dragonheaven server here http://dragonheaven.psim.us/
Feel free to post suggestions of Type Optimised pokemon that needs rebalancing and we will discuss and maybe open a slate of what the proposed changes for rebalanced Pokemon should be.
Just as a reminder if no one is on, you can challenge the BatterBotto to try out teams.
i intended to close subs tonight but this works
I'll be hanging out on ROM tonight hopefully testing some teams out (so ~6 PM EST) so if you catch me there, ask me for a match. If I'm not there, check the main server's Other Metas room. I'm almost always there unless not on PS at all.
Also, gratz to all of the winners of the previous slate!
One thing I think is downright broken right now, even without testing, is optimized glalie. That thing has 160 atk and 160 spe. It's already a lot, but don't forget this monster has Shell Smash. Coupled with three insane abilities in Sheer Force, Sturdy and Adaptability, a decent coverage movepool and a priority, I mean, I don't think I even have to explain.
While it is scary looking, it is easily revenge killed with SE priority.
252+ Atk Tyrogue Mach Punch vs. -1 4 HP / 0 Def Glalie: 304-364 (116 - 138.9%) -- guaranteed OHKO
I'm not saying that the fact that it might force priority to be used as a good thing, mind you, but if you can simply force it to set up before your Aqua Jet/Bullet Punch/Mach Punch users are down, then you can nail it hard.
I wouldn't mind rearranging its stats to be less borked.
Here's something that I think is really borked; Arcanine.
The mere fact that it have moderate Defense (around 90 iirc) and that it got Fur Coat is quite an overkill, and it can just wear Assault Vest in order to fix its lower Special Defense. When using Assault Vest, it can and will spam Fire Lash in order to take down walls faster, even Chansey.
It also got great coverage and if you are willing not using Assault Vest, then Swords Dance and Extreme Speed can be insane and may end up encouraging usage of Tapu Lele (does to Psychic Terrain stopping priority) even more.
Not that Arcanine is unstoppable mind you; a setted up Emboar can quickly demolish it with STAB Head Smash, Mold Breaker users can ignore its Fur Coat, and any Special Attack boosted threats (including Competitive Wigglytuff) will put a dent on it, but is otherwise a major pain for everything else. As LordHelix pointed out, being weak to multiple Hazard (including Stealth Rocks), unreliable recovery in Morning Sun and as he said. Although we can agree that Fur Coat and Fire Lash for a fast and strong Pokémon like Arcanine is over the top.
TBH there are too many Pokémon that would be potentially viable for my to list, but I'd suggest to also watch for Emboar, Glalie, Hariyama, Araquanid, Cofagrigous, Kangaskhan, Girafarig, Wishiwashi, Zangoose, Mandibuzz, Toucannon, Parasect (Spore + 100 Speed, just in case you wanna know why), Meganium, Porygon-Z, Guzzlord, Victini and Salazzle, as any of them would be also potentially too powerful.
I think arcanine is fine if some of his given moves are removed, fire lash is insane for any tanky hard hitting mon, sd gives him really good set up move and arca has the moveset to abuse it (fire lash in general is a busted move, why did gamefreak think an 80bp reliable stab psuedo-pup for fires is a good idea??)
Alternatively to balance out a bit give him fluffy, the more balanced fur coat as non contact moves still do 2x (mainly his two weaknesses, eq and stone edge) and loses the fire resistance, at least has some drawbacks compared to the perfect fur coat
In general tho i think hes not that amazing? Hes weak to rocks, every hazard, susceptible to the many good special attackers, unreliable recovery in morning sun. Still sounds like a very good mon thanks to coverage, bulk, and priority but not over the top
I think the most broken thing right now is Araquanid. 100/120/172 bulk and Regenerator makes it bulkier than Toxapex both on the physical and special sides, with the same number of weaknesses (only 3) to boot. Unlike Toxapex, it has enough offense (90 Atk) to run Assault Vest, and AV with the previously mentioned bulk makes it a better special (and physical, obviously) wall than Chansey. Fortunately, it has a Rock weakness, so at least whoever runs Araquanid will be forced to run hazard control to fully utilize Regenerator.
Now, with a buffed Attack stat and with Water Bubble being Huge Power for Water moves, it can also be a scary wallbreaker, hitting harder with Liquidation than Crawdaunt with its Adaptability Crabhammer. Unlike Crawdaunt, it has the bulk to be able to set up. Araquanid also has Spider Web to trap a passive foe, set up on them and atempt a sweep. Many possibilities. Again, fortunately, Araquanid doesn't get Aqua Jet and it is quite slow, so it's more of a wallbreaker than a sweeper. Unless you're using a Trick Room team, that is...
The vanilla Araquanid set, suicide lead, also gets a buff, with Spikes and Drizzle to further support its teammates. Granted, there's nothing broken about Drizzle Araquanid, it's just that more sets means more unpredictability and it'll be hard to predict and counterplay Regenerator/Water Bubble sets already.
