Well, I am going to give my opinion on certain Pokémon that just got Space-type. I only select a few that I do really need to talk with.

palkia.gif

Palkia's Space/Dragon makes more sense than Water/Dragon, but unless it gets something what Ultra Necrozma cannot or that the latter become Space/Light (which makes another typing with only new types) one day, the latter will still overshadow poor Palkia.

cleffa.gif
clefairy.gif
clefable.gif

As Clefable is already viable in OU even as a pure Fairy-type, I would like to see where this is going now that it logically get Space-type.

staryu.gif
starmie.gif

Dilasc want them Water/Light (mostly does to Illuminate) but they become Water/Space. I do want that as Water/Light too but I would just make a Light-type Steelworker clone for this one.

elgyem.gif
beheeyem.gif

They would be overshadowed by the Gothitelle line anyways, but Beheeyem's stats are still too low except Special Attack to be useful. Maybe in the Balance slate I would ask for +10 for HP and +20 for Speed, unless if they would get a very good Ability.

necrozma-ultra.gif

Space makes a lot of sense for Necrozma, but would it hurt if we one day have Light-type won, make it Space/Light? Light-type, shall it won, will still make sense and we already got many Legendary Dragon-type, especially since Rayquaza, we a third member of a trio who's Dragon-type.

celesteela.gif

Depended if Space will have a favorable defensive match-up or not, its defensive roles will be either benefited or hindered. If the latter case would be true, it will hurt Celesteela's presence.

latios-mega.gif
latias-mega.gif

Good that G-Luke only want Lati@s' Mega to be Dragon/Space and not their base form. This allows their Mega Evolution to stand out more instead of being just "Lati@s but buffed stats".

solrock.gif
lunatone.gif
minior.gif

Now that I thankfully fixed Solrock's and Lunatone's stats, it would be interesting to see which of those three would perform the best as a Rock/Space.

And the winner for the matchups is... Tiksi! Congrats to you!

Matchups:

I took this from an "outer space" frame, since that seems the most effective focus to retype Pokemon through. Being very impenetrable and hostile to life, Space performs well defensively, but due to its lack of normal interactions with the other types in 'reality' (and since asphyxiating everything is cheating), it doesn't get much super-effective coverage, and it doesn't have countless resists like Steel.

Offensive:
2x:
Fire, Normal
1/2x: Time, Ghost, Bug

Defensive:
2x:
Ghost, Psychic
1/2x: Time, Fairy, Ice, Fire
Additionally, Origin0's Astralize and DatHeatmor's Stardust won their respectives tiebreaker. Gratz!

Slate #5 (Space Type) — Distribution Phase

This slate is special because it's only voting. You mention the pokemons that should get the moves/ability, and it will count as a vote.

I’m really struggling to see anyone using space as a coverage move when rock and fight does the coverage thing far better for their respective types. Seriously, only 2 types!? Am I misreading this!?

I’m not even bitter about not getting votes any more (even if I am probably seen as a noob), I want this type chart to have a purpose beyond fluffy science.

Not every type has to be a good coverage type imo. Space (and Time) moves tends to be learnt almost exclusively by pokemon of those types, as we can see with Origin0's and G-Luke's vote. Besides, there are no types immune to it and not that much types resists it, so I think space moves could work decently as spammable STABs.

It’s also the one combo I would’ve given an antivote. Hate me if you want, my loathing of the concept is nothing personal against the winner. I just wanna make sure every type does something important even when we get beyond 30 types.

Being a strong and consistent STAB is a good enough role- See Dragon, Steel, Bug, and Normal as types which are rarely ran as coverage outside of their STAB users. And at least this has notable super-effectives (including Normal which is quite uncommon) compared to something like Dragon.

Also defensively the type is quite strong, similar to types such as Dragon or Steel in that regard.

The exact intent is to make each Type have a different archetype instead of trying to compete with each others. We would eventually get a Type that is more into offensive coverage.

I’m sorry but if the argument that rock can defensively suck because it’s great offensively doesn’t fly and gets rightfully chewed out, then I can’t see the reverse argument being able to be brushed aside as okay.

False equivalency. Pokémon with bad offensive types can still run coverage, but Pokémon with bad defensive types are forced to suffer forever with no hope of salvation as the universe itself laughs at their pain.
