Mafia is like an arms race

Let’s take me and Texas last game. I conftowned texas because he was drunk posting on page 1. I can’t use that tell again because Texas knows I use that tell, so he’s able to emulate it as scum

So what you do is you use tells and don’t tell people what they are. I will never share my strong tells on relevant players and just stockpile them (ala arms race) until one day I need to share them. Which would destroy my stockpile

Does this make sense
 
I have decided to perform an arbitrary vote count. The bureau will examine any and all ballots.

We are nearly at the end of the beginning of the trilogy of days that make up this day cycle. 50 hours or so Darrens.

It's a good short term strategy. It's a poor long term strategy when mafia dissolves into people not posting anything.
 
So the only time I’d ever post a full case as town is when I’m totally convinced of an alignment read and that read is relevant to the outcome of the game

And if that’s not the case then I’m just posting cases to posture as town trying to scumhunt. Which is scummy.

Like, you can agree or disagree but I think there is a right way to view meta and tells and cases and this happens to be the right way
 
Frankly, I'm not saying it's good or bad as a strategy for winning. I'm saying it's bad for the mafia game as it makes the game a whole lot less interesting and enjoyable.

You have it totally confused. It’s a good long term strategy, and a bad short term strategy. Best short term strategy is to post all tells and reads and be utterly convincing and win that game. But then next game rolls around and you have no weaponry anymore.

like, i would maximize my enjoyment of mafia by just hard trolling every game and being correct in reads so people have to sheep a troll

but i'm not going to do that because i think it hurts my chances of winning, so i don't really consider it when i peruse my toolbox of viable strategies

anyways

yeah i don't think this is an activity tell scenario because he nearly didn't sign up cos he said he was going to be busy

i think he's mildly scummy for other reasons (mainly taking 10 posts to express 1 idea and being inquisitive without getting results) but activity isn't it

idk man even if he said he would be inactive he is just not here and p sure ive seen him looking at thread during parts where people have been talking (but dont quote me on it)
 
By the way, I saw inferno on earlier but he didn't post. He might be checking in on phone like I do sometimes but just thought I'd say it in case no one else noticed.
 
Also, I feel that we are basically just taking what Hal says at fact at this point. This is obviously not the best idea considering we have zero idea whether what he says is right, even though he is solidly town. I feel we are basing the reads on Texas’s as well just because he was town. I agree with you on Nuxl, but I’m not quite sure on Asek and I really think we are rushing a bit.
