[OVERVIEW]

Kommo-o is an excellent bulky mixed attacker in the 1v1 metagame, with a powerful offensive typing in Dragon / Fighting and the ability to beat common Pokemon such as Mega Gyarados, Mega Lopunny, and Aegislash. It also has access to the only Z-Move that deals damage and boosts all stats, Clangorous Soulblaze, which gives it the power necessary to beat threats such as Greninja, Mega Charizard Y, and Zygarde. Kommo-o also has a somewhat rare niche of being able to beat virtually every single Sturdy Pokemon in the metagame, such as Donphan, Carracosta, and Magnezone. It only loses to Skarmory, thanks to the latter's Supersonic Skystrike. With some defensive EV investment, Kommo-o can tank several powerful attacks such as Ice Beam from Choice Specs Greninja, Air Slash from Mega Charizard Y, and Outrage from Mega Gyarados without compromising its ability to reliably overcome its other matchups. Unfortunately, its relatively poor defensive typing for the 1v1 metagame makes it quite susceptible to virtually every Fairy-type, such as Magearna, Tapu Lele, Tapu Fini, and Mega Gardevoir. Additionally, it is also unable to stand against most Dragon-types, such as Mega Charizard X and Dragonite, which can easily OHKO it with their powerful STAB attacks.

Moves
========

Clanging Scales serves as Kommo-o's main STAB attack, OHKOing Pokemon such as Greninja and Zygarde while also 2HKOing Pokemon such as offensive Mega Gyarados and Mega Venusaur. Its corresponding Z-Move, Clangorous Soulblaze, also boosts all of Kommo-o's stats by one stage, giving it not only the bulk to tank moves such as Never-Ending Nightmare from Aegislash and Tectonic Rage followed by Ice Shard from Donphan, but also the Speed necessary to outspeed base 100 Speed Pokemon such as Mega Charizard Y, Genesect, and Meloetta. Clanging Scales and Clangorous Soulblaze are both sound-based moves, allowing them to bypass Substitutes from Pokemon such as Jumpluff and Flail Mega Lopunny. Close Combat allows Kommo-o to take on Steel-types like Heatran, Magnezone, and Mega Aggron that resist its Dragon-type attacks. It can also more effectively deal with specially defensive Pokemon such as Mega Tyranitar, Chansey, Blissey, and Meloetta, all of which could be issues for Kommo-o if they are allowed to set up or stall. Unfortunately, Close Combat's Defense drops mean it shouldn't be spammed it in matchups against Pokemon like Mega Aggron and Meloetta, where sufficient bulk is important. Flamethrower allows Kommo-o to beat Pokemon such as Genesect, Scizor, stall Tapu Bulu, and Aegislash. It also helps damage Volcarona without activating Swarm, as well as avoid stat drops from Close Combat and Clanging Scales against Pokemon such as Mega Aggron, Volcarona, and Meloetta. Taunt shuts down several stall Pokemon such as Celesteela, Pyukumuku, Chansey, and Blissey, as well as preventing Aegislash from using King's Shield to enter its Shield forme or Metal Sound or Laser Focus to bypass Kommo-o's Special Defense.

Set Details
========

240 HP and 100 Special Defense EVs with a Calm nature are used to ensure Kommo-o survives a Choice Specs Greninja's Ice Beam and other powerful special attacks like Choice Scarf Porygon-Z's Hyper Beam, Choice Specs Genesect's Ice Beam, and Mega Charizard Y's Air Slash. The 240 HP EVs maximize Kommo-o's physical bulk, letting it tank Zen Headbutt from Adamant Choice Band Victini, Outrage from an offensive Mega Gyarados, and Fake Out followed by Giga Impact from an Adamant Mega Lopunny relatively comfortably. 28 Attack EVs guarantee that Kommo-o's Close Combat is able to OHKO standard Mega Lopunny, even with a Calm nature. 56 EVs in Speed allow Kommo-o to reach 330 Speed after a Clangorous Soulblaze, letting it outspeed and defeat Pokemon such as Mega Charizard Y, Choice Band Victini, and stall Mew. The remaining EVs are put into Special Attack, allowing Kommo-o to OHKO Greninja with Clangorous Soulblaze. Both Bulletproof and Soundproof can be run on Kommo-o, as each ability has its own niche. Soundproof ensures Kommo-o doesn't always lose to Ditto and avoids an unreliable matchup against Metal Sound Aegislash. Bulletproof allows Kommo-o to beat a Transformed Smeargle with Clangorous Soulblaze, as a Transformed Smeargle with Soundproof would be immune to it, while also avoiding damage from moves like Shadow Ball from Aegislash and Sludge Bomb from Mega Venusaur, thus preventing unwanted secondary effects in either matchup.

Usage Tips
========

Kommo-o should normally use Clangorous Soulblaze on the first turn so that it can outspeed and KO Pokemon such as Mega Charizard Y and bulky Genesect and avoid being KOed by Pokemon like Donphan. If Kommo-o cannot immediately knock out the opposing Pokemon after Clangorous Soulblaze, it should chip away at the opposing Pokemon's health with the weaker moves in the matchup to get the opposing Pokemon in range of a KO, because Kommo-o's main STAB options, Clanging Scales and Close Combat, both gradually reduce its defenses; continued usage of either move potentially puts Kommo-o in range of being knocked out. Against bulky special attackers such as Meloetta and Volcarona, Kommo-o should use Clanging Scales and Flamethrower in order to get them in range of Close Combat, as they both have ways to raise their Special Defense but not their Defense. Kommo-o should not use Clangorous Soulblaze immediately against hyper offensive Pokemon that it can OHKO with unboosted Close Combat or Flamethrower, such as Mega Lopunny, Kartana, and Choice Scarf Porygon-Z. Kommo-o should also refrain from attacking immediately against stall Pokemon and instead shut down their status moves by using Taunt. This prevents Kommo-o from losing to Toxic, Leech Seed, and recovery stall from Pokemon such as Mega Aggron, Mega Venusaur, and Blissey. Avoid sending Kommo-o in against any Fairy- and Dragon-type Pokemon, as it cannot deal with any of them except stall Tapu Bulu and Zygarde. Aegislash is a tricky Pokemon to deal with thanks to its access to King's Shield. However, Soundproof Kommo-o can consistently beat Metal Sound Aegislash through the following steps. On turn one, Kommo-o should use Clangorous Soulblaze to boost its defenses before Aegislash attacks; this is essential in avoiding significant damage from Aegislash's Z-Move. Soundproof Kommo-o is immune to Metal Sound, and therefore it does not need to care about Metal Sound being used on turn one. Then, Kommo-o should use Taunt to disable King's Shield and then KO Aegislash with Flamethrower. This strategy guarantees that Kommo-o always beats Aegislash, as +1 Kommo-o survives Aegislash's Z-Move followed by Shadow Ball and Shadow Sneak. Against Metal Sound Aegislash, Bulletproof Kommo-o will unfortunately have to predict whether or not it uses Metal Sound or attacks, making this variant less reliable.

Team Options
========

Kommo-o is generally weak against Fairy-, Ice-, Psychic-, Flying-, and Dragon-type Pokemon; naturally bulky Steel-types such as Magearna, Heatran, Aegislash, and Mega Metagross can all provide an excellent defensive backbone against most threats of the aforementioned types, such as Mega Altaria, offensive Mew, Kyurem, and Vivillon. Kommo-o can also cover the weaknesses possessed by Steel-types by reliably beating most Ground-, Fire-, and Fighting-types, such as Sturdy Pokemon, Zygarde, Heatran, and standard Mega Lopunny. Alongside the Steel-types, run options in order to cover up a few matchups that Steel-types don't universally cover, such as against Mega Charizard X, Supersonic Skystrike Landorus-T, Dragonite, and Naganadel. Mega Slowbro, Stored Power Necrozma, Mega Gyarados, Chansey, and Blissey can all fill this role. In exchange, Kommo-o can beat most Dark- and Fighting-type Pokemon such as Mega Gyarados, Greninja, Pheromosa, and Keldeo. Besides the aforementioned, Kommo-o appreciates Pokemon that universally cover Dragon-types, as, except for Zygarde, they all have favorable matchups against Kommo-o. Pokemon that can beat every viable Dragon-type in the metagame include Mega Diancie and specially defensive Mega Altaria. Sturdy users such as Magnezone, Crustle, Donphan, and Carracosta can also serve as excellent teammates, as they can tank overwhelming offensive moves that Kommo-o has trouble with, such as a Breakneck Blitz from Porygon-Z and Outrage from Mega Charizard X, and hit back hard. Magnezone is especially relevant, as it can take on Fairy-type Pokemon in the tier. In return, Sturdy Pokemon appreciate the favorable matchups Kommo-o has against traditional Sturdy breakers such as Mega Gyarados and Mega Lopunny.

[STRATEGY COMMENTS]

Other Options
=============

Kommo-o can run a faster, less bulky variant with 88 HP / 28 Atk / 4 Def / 136 SpA / 252 Spe EVs and a Timid nature in order to outspeed and beat bulky Mega Charizard X and Modest Breakneck Blitz Porygon-Z, both of which are threats to standard Kommo-o, while still being able to beat Mega Lopunny and Mega Gyarados. However, with this set it loses to virtually every special attacker it can beat with the standard set, and thus this set should only be run as a niche anti-meta option with very supportive teammates. Substitute can let Kommo-o survive powerful moves such as Prismatic Laser from Choice Specs Necrozma and is an alternative to Taunt in avoiding status conditions and Counter from Pokemon like Chansey and Pyukumuku. Focus Blast is an alternative to Close Combat that removes the need to run 28 Attack EVs, allowing a 240 HP / 112 SpA / 100 SpD / 56 Spe EV spread instead with a Calm nature and avoids the drops in defenses associated with Close Combat. However, it hinders Kommo-o's reliability in beating Fighting-weak Pokemon thanks to its abysmal 70% accuracy. Additionally, this only makes the matchup against Chansey and Blissey harder, as even though Kommo-o can prevent healing with Taunt, its damage output and accuracy allows them to potentially KO Kommo-o by repeatedly using Seismic Toss. Kommo-o also loses to specially defensive Pokemon such as Meloetta and Volcarona, since it can no longer hit them physically. Counter allows Kommo-o to knock out relatively bulky physical threats that it cannot normally take out, such as Mega Metagross and Choice Scarf Landorus-T.

Checks and Counters
===================

**Fairy-type Moves and Pokemon**: Kommo-o is 4x weak to Fairy-type moves, and thus it can neither take a single Fairy-type hit from any relevant Pokemon nor effectively deal damage to any of them. These Pokemon include Magearna, Tapu Lele, Tapu Fini, Primarina, Mega Altaria, Mega Gardevoir, and Mega Mawile.

**Dragon-, Flying-, and Psychic-type Pokemon**: While Kommo-o has the capability to beat relevant powerhouses such as Choice Specs Greninja and Air Slash Mega Charizard Y, anything stronger breaks it. Beware of Pokemon like Dragonite, Mega Charizard X, offensive Mew, Naganadel, Archeops, and Mega Medicham.

**Stall Pokemon Immune to Taunt**: Kommo-o's only real way of beating stall is in the form of Taunt. If Kommo-o encounters stall Pokemon immune to Taunt, such as Mega Slowbro and Mega Sableye, an issue is presented, as even with a boost of all its stats from Clangorous Soulblaze, the opponent is able to sufficiently set up their defenses and heal off any damage.

**Overwhelmingly Powerful Attacks**: While rare, there are some extremely powerful offensive threats that Kommo-o cannot beat, even if they only hit it neutrally. These include Pokemon such as fast Breakneck Blitz and Choice Specs Porygon-Z, Hypnosis + Hex Mega Gengar if Kommo-o is asleep, and Choice Band Giga Impact Slaking.

dom implemented tho a few things to say

- change bad typing to bad defensive typing its cool offensively (already said that)
- jeez man remove the whole part about overcoat (for usage) (no u if i don't even mention it ppl will be clueless on how to play against powder users. Tho i did clean it up a bit)
- briefly mention other zmoves, gimmicky but usable (z-iron tail, z-eq) to beat fairies (z-iron tail can only outspeed and kill bulky Lele, everything else either outspeeds it and ohkoes or lives and ohkoes. Z-eg doesn't ohko magearna or mega mawile)
- remove untauntable stall, sab loses anyw prolly (nah fam sab just recovers on your z move and u lose. Can pp stall your clanging, set up with cm, or use snarl, either way its an unfavorable mu, even if you do sometimes 2hko bad players)

not sure how to hide this but here's my first QC lemme know if there's anything I'm doing wrong:

[OVERVIEW]

  • Kommo-o is an excellent bulky offense Pokemon in the 1v1 metagame, with powerful offensive typing in Dragon/Fighting and able to run viable Mixed Attacking strategies.
  • It also has access to one of the most powerful and the only omniboosting Z-Move, Clangorous Soulblaze, which gives Kommo-o the power necessary to beat threats such as Greninja, Mega Charizard Y, and Zygarde.
  • Besides that, Kommo-o can utilize other moveset options such as Close Combat, Flamethrower, and Taunt, allowing it to hit on both the physical and special side of defenses, and assisting in knocking out Pokemon such as Mega Gyarados, Mega Lopunny, Aegislash, and Chansey.
  • Defensively, Kommo-o can also be EVed in order to tank several powerful attacks, such as Ice Beam from Choice Specs Greninja, Air Slash from Mega Charizard Y, and Outrage from Adamant Mega Gyarados, without compromising the ability to reliably beat other matchups any other matchup it beat before. (too wordy)
  • Unfortunately, there's only so much defensive EVs can do, and therefore (redundant) its relatively poor defensive typing for the 1v1 meta makes it quite susceptible to virtually every Fairy-Type, such as Magearna, Tapu Lele, Tapu Fini, Mega Gardevoir, and Mega Diancie. This also means that, in order to live as many attacks as possible, you're going to need to run a Calm nature, reducing your Attack. (this part is placed weirdly. I don’t know why but it just seems off. Like too much detail? Maybe saying something as simple as ‘running a defensive set compromises its Attack stat.’)
  • Additionally, it is also unable to stand against the omnipresent S-Rank Dragon-Types, being Mega Charizard X and Dragonite, who can easily OHKO with Outrage and a STAB Z-Move, respectfully.

Moves
========

  • Clanging Scales, and the Z-Move version of it Clangorous Soulblaze, serves as Kommo-o's main offensive STAB, naturally knocking out Pokemon such as Greninja and Zygarde, while also 2HKOing Pokemon such as defensive Mega Gyarados and Mega Venusaur. However, the main importance of this move is that the Z-Move will also boost all of Kommo-o's base stats by one stage, giving Kommo-o not only the bulk to tank hits such as Z-Shadow Ball from Aegislash and Z-Earthquake into Ice Shard from Donphan, but also the Speed necessary to outspeed base 100 Speed and below, such as Mega Charizard Y, Genesect, and Meloetta. Lastly, Clanging Scales and its Z-Move are both sound-based moves, allowing them to evade substitutes from Pokemon such as Jumpluff and Flail Mega Lopunny.
  • Close Combat serves as an excellent coverage STAB option, allowing Kommo-o to take on Steel-Types like Heatran, Magnezone, and Aggron, that would otherwise resist Kommo-o's Dragon-Type STAB. It can also more effectively deal with Pokemon Specially Defensive Pokemon such as Mega Tyranitar, Chansey, Blissey, and Meloetta, who could all be potential issues vs Kommo-o if they are allowed to set up or stall. Unfortunately, the drawback of using Close Combat is that it will drop both of Kommo-o's defenses by one stage every time it is used, so don't spam it in matchups like versus Mega Aggron and Meloetta, where defensive stats are important. (this makes it sound like defensive stats aren’t usually important. Reword this)
  • Flamethrower is also a very useful coverage option, allowing Kommo-o to hit threats without having to deal with the Defense-dropping effects of the first two moves, such as against Genesect, Scizor, Kartana, non-Dazzling Gleam Tapu Bulu, and Aegislash. (I don’t think that the lack of defense dropping is necessary here, unless there is a specific matchup where it actually does matter, because the reason you’re using flamethrower in these matchups is because flamethrower does more damage, not because you don’t get a def drop)
  • Taunt shuts down several stall Pokemon such as stall Celesteela, Pyukumuku, Chansey and Blissey, as well as prevents Aegislash from using King's Shield to enter its Shield forme, or Metal Sound to lower Kommo-o's Special Defense, and thus makes the matchup winnable.

Set Details
========

  • The 240 HP / 100 SpD EVs with a Calm nature is used to ensure Kommo-o lives a Choice Specs Greninja's Ice Beam, as well as other powerful special attacks like Choice Scarf Porygon Z's Hyper Beam, Choice Specs (not sure if it’s worth mentioning scarf genesect as well, because this lives ice beam and another ice beam after z move) Genesect's Ice Beam, and Mega Charizard Y's Air Slash. The 240 HP also maximizes the amount of HP so that Kommo-o can have sufficient physical bulk as well, alongside Kommo-o’s natural physical bulk lets it letting it tank a Zen Headbutt from an Adamant Choice Band Victini, max Attack Mega Gyarados' Outrage, and a Fake Out into Giga Impact from a Mega Lopunny.
  • The 28 Attack EVs guarantees that Kommo-o's Close Combat will be able to OHKO Mega Lopunny from full, even with the Calm Nature. (I don’t know if this is the best matchup to mention simply because it has a chance to lose to Sub Flail Lop. 252 Atk Lopunny-Mega Fake Out vs. 240 HP / 0 Def Kommo-o: 57-67 (16.2 - 19%) -- possible 6HKO into 252 Atk Lopunny-Mega High Jump Kick vs. -1 240 HP / 0 Def Kommo-o: 273-322 (77.7 - 91.7%) -- guaranteed 2HKO) as Kommo-o is at -1 after CC. Of course, if one predicts the sub, you can z clang, but then its not a reliable matchup anymore.)
  • The 56 EVs in Speed allows Kommo-o to reach 330 Speed after a Clangorous Soulblaze, allowing Kommo-o to outspeed and defeat Pokemon such as Mega Charizard Y, Non-scarf Victini, and stall Mew.
  • The 84 EVs in Special Attack allow Kommo-o to OHKO Greninja with Clangorous Soulblaze. This is important, as it avoids potential 50/50s caused by your opponent not using Ice Beam turn one. Any leftover EVs go into Special Attack, as well.
  • The Calm Nature was chosen as it was the nature that allowed the most efficient use of EVs; Kommo-o can still beat the same Pokemon it could beat before while running a Calm nature, provided that the 28 Attack EVs are invested, as it still will subtract from Kommo-o's Attack stat and thus prevent an un-EVed Kommo-o from beating Mega Lopunny guaranteed. (if lop is unreliable remove this)
  • Both Bulletproof and Soundproof can be run on Kommo-o, as each ability has its own niche. provides bonuses that are sometimes nice to have but never really define or change the matchups Kommo-o possesses. Soundproof ensures you don't autolose the Kommo-o ditto (may be worth mentioning Metal Sound), whereas Bulletproof can be used to avoid taking damage from moves like Shadow Ball from Meloetta and (why would melo use shadow ball? Even sludge bomb from mega venu would be a better example) Aegislash, thus preventing unwanted Special Defense drops in either of their matchups, as well as allow you to beat a transformed Smeargle with Clangorous Soulblaze, as a transformed Smeargle with Soundproof would be immune.
Usage Tips
========

  • Kommo-o, as a bulky offense Pokemon, will always be used by taking hits from an opponent and hitting back harder with the appropriate move. (what about against slower opponents like sturdy mons?)
  • Kommo-o should normally begin by using Clangorous Soulblaze, so that its stats are boosted as soon as possible, and so that Kommo-o can be as fast as possible. Not doing so cause Kommo-o to fail to beat Pokemon such as bulky Genesect, Donphan, and Mega Charizard Y, as you will either be too weak or too frail to knock them out or avoid being knocked out, respectively.
  • After hitting your opponent with your Z-Move, follow up with the most hard hitting move. (not sure how to word this but not like this) whatever move you can use to KO your opponent on turn two, if applicable. (I looked at this paragraph for a long time and my final verdict is that it’s useless.)
  • If you cannot immediately knock out your opponent, chip away at their health with the weaker moves in the matchup to get your opponent in range of a knockout. This is because Kommo-o's main STAB options, Clanging Scales and Close Combat, both gradually reduce its defenses; continued usage of either move will potentially put Kommo-o in range of being knocked out. Therefore, it is safer to avoid lowering your defenses while still maintaining offensive pressure. Against bulky special attackers such as Meloetta and Volcarona, use Clanging Scales and Flamethrower (if you put flamethrower here I think it would be better to put an example beforehand or else people might think you should flamethrower on volcarona) in order to get them in range of Close Combat, as they both have ways to raise their Special Defense, but not their Defense.
  • One of the times you should avoid using Clangorous Soulblaze turn one is when you are against Hyper Offensive Pokemon that you can hit super effectively with Close Combat or Flamethrower, such as Mega Lopunny, Kartana, and Choice Scarf Porygon Z. This is because not only can Kommo-o OHKO these threats with said moves, unlike against Bulky Offense, but also because Kommo-o will neither be able to outspeed these threats after a Speed boost from Clangorous Soulblaze nor be able to tank multiple hits from these Pokemon, if he allows them to Attack. ( think it should be enough to say that you don’t outspeed them at +1.)
  • Kommo-o should also refrain from attacking immediately against stall Pokemon, and instead opt to shutting down any and all of their status moves by using Taunt. This prevents losing to Toxic stall, Leech Seed stall, and Recovery Stall from Pokemon such as Mega Venusaur, Blissey and stall Mega Aggron. (order this respectively if possible)
  • Avoid sending Kommo-o against any Fairy- and Dragon-Type pokemon, as Kommo-o just flat out cannot deal with any of them, except non Dazzling-Gleam stall Tapu Bulu and Zygarde, respectfully.
  • Kommo-o's should never need its hidden ability, Overcoat, to beat powder users. The most common powder abusers in the 1v1 metagame are Jumpluff, Mega Venusaur, Vivillon, Breloom and Smeargle. Against Jumpluff and Breloom, even if they outspeed and Spore you, they cannot rely on Substitute for avoiding damage, as either Clangorous Soulblaze or Taunt will bypass their Substitutes and ruin their strategies. Against Mega Venusaur, taunting immediately shuts down Sleep Powder before it can use it. Against Smeargle, you can use Clangorous Soulblaze even if your moves are imprisoned, so using your Z-Move as soon as you wake up will OHKO Smeargle (unless they transform into you and you have Soundproof). Against Vivillon, you lose even if you have Overcoat, because they just use Z-Hurricane immediately and OHKO Kommo-o.
  • Another specific matchup that should be clarified is against Aegislash. Aegislash is a tricky Pokemon to deal with, thanks to it's (remove apostrophe) access to King's Shield. However, Kommo-o can consistently beat Aegislash if these steps are followed. Turn one, use Clangorous Soulblaze to boost your defenses before Aegislash attacks; this is essential in avoiding significant damage from Aegislash's Z-Move of choice. Turn two, use the move Taunt, as this will disable the Aegislash's King's Shield from then on, keeping it in the frailer Blade form. Then, attack Aegislash with Flamethrower until Aegislash falls; this combination of attacks will guarantee that Kommo-o beats Aegislash every time, as Kommo-o lives either a Z-Shadow Ball or Z-Flash Cannon into the normal moves of either into Shadow Sneak. (I usually would totally agree that Kommo is a solid Aegis counter but 252+ SpA Aegislash-Blade Never-Ending Nightmare (160 BP) vs. -1 240 HP / 100+ SpD Kommo-o: 381-448 (108.5 - 127.6%) -- guaranteed OHKO. Following your steps of T1: Zmove, T2: Taunt, this allows Aegislash to set up a Metal Sound T1 and bop back with z shadow ball T2. Same deal with Swords Dance Aegis)
Team Options
========

  • (**Mega** WTF TDA) Kommo-o’s typing leaves it is generally defensively weak against Fairy-, Ice-, Psychic-, Flying-, and Dragon-Type Pokemon, so naturally bulky Steel-Types such as Magearna, Heatran, Aegislash, and Mega Metagross can all provide an excellent defensive backbone against most threats of the aforementioned types, such as Mega Altaria, offensive Mew, Kyurem and Vivillon. (I’m not sure if all of the teammates you covered need to cover all of the threats that you mentioned because magearna can still lose to mew and kyurem can beat heatran and sometimes metagross as well I think with groundium z ) Kommo-o can also cover the weaknesses possessed by Steel-Types by reliably beating most Ground-, Fire-, and Fighting-Types, such as Zygarde, Heatran, and Mega Lopunny. (maybe mention that it beats sturdy pokemon which steels lose to? You haven’t mentioned sturdies at all surprisingly. Again confirm lop matchup)
  • Alongside the Steel-Types, run options in order to cover up a few patches that Steel-Types don't universally cover, such as against Mega Charizard X, Z-Fly Landorus-Therian, Dragonite and Naganadel. Mega Slowbro, Stored Power Necrozma, Mega Gyarados, Chansey and Blissey can all fill this role. In exchange, Kommo-o can defend against most Dark- and Fighting-Type Pokemon such as Mega Gyarados, Greninja, Pheromosa, and Keldeo.
  • Besides the aforementioned, Kommo-o can appreciate Pokemon that universally cover Dragon-Types, as, except for Zygarde, they all have favorable matchups against Kommo-o. Pokemon that can beat every viable Dragon-Type in the metagame include Mega Altaria and Mega Diancie. (maybe combine this with the above bullet point as 3 out of the 4 pokemon u mentioned are dragon types. Also does mega diancie always beat dragonite? And does altaria beat naganadel? Rephrase this.)
  • Kommo-o can also appreciate some backup when it comes to breaking through bulky offense and stall that it doesn't have favorable matchups with, like against Bulky Mega Metagross, Mega Slowbro, Primarina, Tapu Fini and bulky Tapu Lele. Some Pokemon to help break those cores would be extremely potent offensive choices, such as Normalium Porygon-Z and Magnezone. (not sure if this section is needed, its basically just psychics and fairies. Add magnezone to the list of steel partners in the other dot point and maybe add a new bullet point for things that beat psychics like meta and mew and slowbro.)
[STRATEGY COMMENTS]
Other Options
=============

  • Kommo-o can run a faster, less bulky variant with 88 HP / 28 Atk / 4 Def / 136 SpA / 252 Spe EVs and a Timid nature in order to outspeed and beat Bulky Mega Charizard X and Modest Normalium Porygon-Z, both of which are threats to the standard a slower Kommo-o, while still being able to beat Mega Lopunny and Mega Gyarados. However, it now loses against virtually every special attacker it could beat previously, and thus this set should only be run as a niche anti-meta option with very supportive teammates.
  • Substitute can give Kommo-o an out against powerful moves such as Prismatic Laser from Choice Specs Necrozma, as well as an alternative to Taunt in avoiding status conditions and Counter from Pokemon like Chansey and Pyukumuku.
  • Focus Blast is an alternative to Close Combat, which removes the need to run 28 Attack EVs, allowing a 240 HP / 112 SpA / 100 SpD / 56 Spe EV spread instead (with Calm nature). This will also avoid the drops in defenses associated with Close Combat, but also hinders Kommo-o's reliability with Fighting-Type weak Pokemon, as Focus Blast has abysmal 70% accuracy. Additionally, this will only make the matchup against Chansey and Blissey even harder, as even though you can prevent healing with Taunt, your damage output and accuracy will allow them to potentially Seismic Toss Kommo-o to death. (mention that focus blast is a special move and so you will essentially be walled by special walls, unlike the standard set where having mixed offenses let you handle both)
  • Counter allows Kommo-o to knock out relatively bulky physical threats that Kommo-o cannot normally take out, such as against Mega Metagross and Choice Scarf Landorus-Therian.
  • Kommo-o can also lure in (what happened here)

Checks and Counters
===================

**Fairy Type Moves and Pokemon**: Kommo-o is 4x weak to Fairy-Types defensively, and thus cannot take a single Fairy-Type hit from any relevant Pokemon, nor can it effectively deal damage to any of them. These Pokemon include Magearna, Tapu Lele, Tapu Fini, Primarina, Mega Altaria, Mega Gardevoir, Mega Mawile, Mega Diancie, Togekiss and (Either add Specs in front of this, or remove it cos nihilego is irrelevant) Dazzling Gleam Nihilego.

**Dragon, Flying, and Psychic Type Pokemon**: While Kommo-o has the capabilities to beat relevant powerhouses such as Choice Specs Greninja or Air Slash Mega Charizard Y, anything stronger will break it. Beware of Pokemon like Dragonite, Mega Charizard X, Offensive Mew, Naganadel, Choice Band Archeops, Talonflame and Mega Medicham.

**Un-Tauntable Stall**: Kommo-o's only real way of beating stall is in the form of Taunt. If Kommo-o encounters either forms of stall immune to Taunt or Pokemon that outspeed and run Taunt themselves, such as Mega Slowbro, Deoxys-Speed (not sure if worth mentioning because Kommo-o beats it with Clangorous Soulblaze if it taunts), and Mega Sableye, this will present an issue, as even with an omniboost from Clangorous Soulblaze, they will be able to sufficiently set up their defenses and heal off any damage, keeping them out of range of a knockout.

**Overwhelmingly Powerful Attacks**: While rare, there are some extremely powerful offensive threats that Kommo-o cannot beat, even if they only hit neutrally. These include Pokemon such as fast Z-Hyper Beam or Choice Specs Porygon-Z, Hypnosis + Hex Mega Gengar (while Kommo-o is asleep), and Choice Band Giga Impact Slaking .

Chickenpie2 good first qc. Haven't kooked at what u said much but just so you know
  • you can edit the colors on smogon by clicking the teardrop like symbol like this. It's better to use that imo when qcing so its not just a wall of black, ppl can see what u want. Either that or you can bold it.
  • Also, try your best not to ask for phrases to be deleted, thats more of a GP thing, unless you think its pointless/bad/incorrect for the set.
  • also, please specify in the qc check whether or not you are actually stamping the check. I'm going to assume this is one, but some qc checks are major enough that you will need to second-check after they've been implemented to make sure that they're golden. Also, include final thoughts so they author knows specifically what needs to be fixed, if anything
But in general you did this exactly as you needed to. I'll go through your checks rn and comment on some of them specifically.

ok. it's just that i usually import to word and edit it then copy paste it back here. thanks for the tips. Sorry that i'm only changing up the colours now.

comments on checks:
  • "and Outrage from Adamant Mega Gyarados" "Choice Band Archeops" We don't need to specify stuff like this because these are the only existing or only viable variations of these Pokemon in 1v1. It's like saying "Charizardite X Mega Charizard X". And saying something like "these need to be specified because they could cteam you" isn't really relevant, because in 1v1 you're hardpressed to find a matchup that you can't cteam your way to a W. Specifically with the gyara one, the statement as is says "You will live an outrage from mega gyarados, period", so adding Adamant doesn't change that statement or mean that I don't live one vs Jolly
  • while also 2HKOing Pokemon such as defensive Mega Gyarados rofl I meant offensive but this is relevant bc clangorous into clanging doesn't naturally 2hko bulky mega gyara. What happens is that they don't mega to avoid cc damage, and then its a 50/50 if they mega turn two or not. If they're not super spdef then its fine, if they don't run outrage its fine.
  • (I don’t think that the lack of defense dropping is necessary here, unless there is a specific matchup where it actually does matter, because the reason you’re using flamethrower in these matchups is because flamethrower does more damage, not because you don’t get a def drop) Implementing but it was more so that i forgot i made the defensing dropping point without including what u need that for. So I added more relevant examples
  • (I don’t know if this is the best matchup to mention simply because it has a chance to lose to Sub Flail Lop.) changed to OHKO standard Mega Lopunny
  • (if you put flamethrower here I think it would be better to put an example beforehand or else people might think you should flamethrower on volcarona) rofl thats how you beat Volcarona. You need to get them low but out of Swarm range, or else Buginium ohkoes.
  • except non Dazzling-Gleam stall Tapu Bulu lol that was my bad, I forgot earlier that offensive beats kommo with +2 z-wood hammer. stall is the only reliable mu kommo wins vs bulu
  • sd aegi doesn't exist. Just going to mention that metal sound aegi vs bulletproof kommo is a 50/50, but soundproof kommo is a 100% counter
  • (I’m not sure if all of the teammates you covered need to cover all of the threats that you mentioned because magearna can still lose to mew and kyurem can beat heatran and aegislash and sometimes metagross as well I think with groundium z ) There's no one mon that beats every mon from 5 types. The Pokemon I listed are examples who can take on most of them.
  • (maybe combine this with the above bullet point as 3 out of the 4 pokemon u mentioned are dragon types. Also does mega diancie always beat dragonite? And does altaria beat naganadel? Rephrase this.) the reason the steel's are together is because its the only type that resists all 5 stabs mentions, and thus is much easier to understand than "Pokemon that can beat those types", which is obvious and vague, and also forces the readers to only use the examples I give rather than experimenting with other mons that fit that archetype. Diancie beats Dragonite; iron head only has like 6.4% usage, and even so a dstorm boost beats it. Mega Altaria can easily beat naga with spdef investment, tho to make that clear I will specify that.
  • Kommo-o can also lure in (what happened here) this was about dom's qc, he said mention z-iron tail and z-eq but after calcing i realized it didn't do anything, and I forgot to delete
  • and yeah, remember to avoid doing GP checks in QC. I know it can be hard but its not our jobs, and it will often make the lives harder for the actual GPers. Stuff like "special side of defenses", "any other matchup it beat before. (too wordy)", and " has its own niche. provides bonuses that are sometimes nice to have but never really define or change the matchups Kommo-o possesses."I'll implement the stuff I agree with GP wise rn but keep that in mind. We're all about the facts, not making it look pretty.
To clarify that huge green wall, you didn't say that much factually wrong but just some common qc mistakes. I implemented most things and anything i didn't/altered is mentioned above

I can only wish for mega kommo o rip

waiting for my mega kommo-o with z move xd.
Additonal notes:
  • I'm pretty sure aron isn't a guaranteed matchup.
  • Also wondering if you're allowed to talk about the Viability Rank in the Overview when talking about S rank pokemon like char x and dragonite

Like the analysis tho i think saying its the only omni boosting move is false advertisement (false info), with stuff like evoboost and other stuff that you actually see in 1v1 like z-celebrate sets (tini and melo) and z converse.

The 240 is not 100% necessary to live an adamant lopunny fake out giga, only 212 is needed to drop it to 99% dmg at max rolls. so idk if you want to rephrase that or completely take it out.

Other nice teampartners to mention are sturdies i feel like especially magnezone who can cover the steel nieche and tank a hit for sure in nearly all cases.

Else i think its pretty fine as it is. Will comment again if i remember anything

done. changed to 'z move that does damage' and specified that the HP lets kommo-o live ada outrage and mega lop 'relatively comfortably'. Added sturdies as well.

[OVERVIEW]

Kommo-o is an excellent bulky offense Pokemon in the 1v1 metagame, with a powerful offensive typing in Dragon/Fighting and able the ability to run viable mixed attacking strategies. It also has access to one of the most powerful and the only omniboosting (not a word) Z-Move that deals damage and boosts all stats, Clangorous Soulblaze, which gives Kommo-o the power necessary to beat threats such as Greninja, Mega Charizard Y, and Zygarde. Besides that, Kommo-o can utilize other moveset options such as Close Combat, Flamethrower, and Taunt, allowing it to hit both physically and specially, and assisting in knocking out Pokemon such as Mega Gyarados, Mega Lopunny, Aegislash, and Chansey. Kommo-o also has a somewhat rare niche of being able to beat almost every single Sturdy Pokemon in the metagame, being Golem, Donphan, Crustle, Carracosta, Aggron, Aron, Togedemaru, Magnemite, Relicanth, Magnezone, and Magneton. It only loses to Skarmory, (RC) thanks to Z-Brave Bird. Defensively, Kommo-o can also be EVed in order to tank several powerful attacks, (RC) such as Ice Beam from Choice Specs Greninja, Air Slash from Mega Charizard Y, and Outrage from Mega Gyarados, without compromising the its ability to reliably beat other reliable (already used reliably) matchups. Unfortunately, its relatively poor defensive typing for in the 1v1 meta metagame makes it quite susceptible to virtually every Fairy-type, (RC) such as Magearna, Tapu Lele, Tapu Fini, Mega Gardevoir, and Mega Diancie. This also means that, in order to live survive (To live is intransitive) as many attacks as possible, you're going to need Kommo-o needs to run a Calm nature, reducing your its Attack. Additionally, it is also unable to stand against most Dragon-types, (RC) such as Mega Charizard X and Dragonite, who which can easily OHKO it with their powerful STAB options attacks.

Moves
========

Clanging Scales, (RC) and the its Z-Move version of it Clangorous Soulblaze, (RC) serves as Kommo-o's main offensive STAB, naturally knocking out OHKOing Pokemon such as Greninja and Zygarde, (RC) while and also 2HKOing Pokemon such as offensive Mega Gyarados and Mega Venusaur. However, the main importance of this move is that the Z-Move will also boosts all of Kommo-o's base (Base stats are inherent to a Pokemon.) stats by one stage, giving Kommo-o not only the bulk to tank hits moves (The examples are specific moves.) such as Z-Shadow Ball from Aegislash and Z-Earthquake Tectonic Rage (Aegislash uses either Shadow Ball or Shadow Claw with Ghostium Z. Donphan only uses Earthquake with Groundium Z.) into Ice Shard from Donphan, but also the Speed necessary to outspeed base 100 Speed and below (obvious) Pokemon, (RC) such as Mega Charizard Y, Genesect, and Meloetta. Lastly, Clanging Scales and its Z-Move Clangorous Soulblaze are both sound-based moves, allowing them to evade go through (moves don't evade) Substitutes from Pokemon such as Jumpluff and Flail Mega Lopunny. Close Combat serves as an excellent coverage STAB option, allowing Kommo-o to take on Steel-Types like Heatran, Magnezone, and Aggron, (RC) that would otherwise resist Kommo-o's Dragon-type STAB. It can also more effectively deal with Pokemon specially defensive Pokemon such as Mega Tyranitar, Chansey, Blissey, and Meloetta, who all of which could all be potential issues vs for Kommo-o if they are allowed to set up or stall. Unfortunately, the drawback of using Close Combat is that it will drops decreases both of Kommo-o's defenses by one stage every time it is used, so don't spam it in matchups like versus against Pokemon like Mega Aggron and Meloetta, where sufficient bulk is important. Flamethrower is also a very useful coverage option, allowing Kommo-o to beat Pokemon such as against Genesect, Scizor, Kartana, stall Tapu Bulu, and Aegislash. It is also useful when you Kommo-o needs to deal small chip damage rather than deal explosive huge (implies the move Explosion; awkward) damage, (RC) or when you Kommo-o needs to avoid a stat debuff from Close Combat or Clanging Scales, (RC) such as against Pokemon such as Mega Aggron, Volcarona, and Meloetta. Taunt shuts down several stall Pokemon such as stall Celesteela, Pyukumuku, Chansey and Blissey, (RC) as well as and prevents Aegislash from using King's Shield to enter its Shield forme, (RC) or Metal Sound to lower Bulletproof Kommo-o's Special Defense.

Set Details
========

The 240 HP / 100 SpD EVs with a Calm nature is are used to ensure Kommo-o lives survives a Choice Specs Greninja's Ice Beam, (RC) as well as and other powerful special attacks like Choice Scarf Porygon-Z's Hyper Beam, Choice Specs Genesect's Ice Beam, and Mega Charizard Y's Air Slash. The 240 HP EVs maximizes Kommo-o's physical bulk, letting it tank a Zen Headbutt from an Adamant Choice Band Victini along with tanking and a max maximum invested Attack Mega Gyarados' Outrage and a Fake Out into Giga Impact from an Adamant Mega Lopunny relatively comfortably. The 28 Attack EVs guarantees that Kommo-o's Close Combat will be is able to OHKO standard Mega Lopunny from full, even with the a Calm Nature. The 56 EVs in Speed allows Kommo-o to reach 330 Speed after a Clangorous Soulblaze, allowing (replace: allow was used earlier in the sentence) Kommo-o to outspeed and defeat Pokemon such as Mega Charizard Y, Choice Band Victini, and stall Mew. The 84 EVs in Special Attack allow Kommo-o to OHKO Greninja with Clangorous Soulblaze. Any The leftover EVs go into Special Attack, as well. The Calm Nature was is chosen (AC: standardization of optional commas) as it was is the nature that allowed allows the most efficient use of EVs; Kommo-o can still beat the same Pokemon it could can beat before while without running a Calm nature, provided that the 28 Attack EVs are invested, as it still will subtracts from Kommo-o's Attack stat and thus prevent an un-EVed Kommo-o from beating being guaranteed to beat standard Mega Lopunny guaranteed. Both Bulletproof and Soundproof can be run on Kommo-o, as each ability has their its own niche. Soundproof ensures you Kommo-o don't doesn't autolose a matchup against the Kommo-o Ditto and avoids a 50 / 50 vs matchup against Metal Sound Aegislash, (period) whereas (Whereas implies contradiction.) Bulletproof can be used to avoid taking damage from moves like Shadow Ball from Aegislash and Sludge Bomb from Mega Venusaur (AC) thus preventing unwanted secondary effects in either of their matchups, (RC) as well as and allows you Kommo-o to beat a Transformed Smeargle with Clangorous Soulblaze, as a Transformed Smeargle with Soundproof would be immune to it.

Usage Tips
========
Kommo-o should normally begin by using use Clangorous Soulblaze on Turn One, (RC) so that its stats are boosted as soon as possible, (RC) and so that Kommo-o can be as fast as possible. Not doing so can cause Kommo-o to fail to beat Pokemon such as bulky Genesect, Donphan, and Mega Charizard Y, as you it will is either be too weak or too frail to knock them out or avoid being knocked out, respectively (obvious). If you Kommo-o cannot immediately knock out your opponent the opposing Pokemon after Clangorous Soulblaze, it should chip away at their the opposing Pokemon's health with the weaker moves in the matchup to get your opponent the opposing Pokemon in range of a knock-out. This is (merge sentences) because Kommo-o's main STAB options, Clanging Scales and Close Combat, both gradually reduce its defenses; continued usage of either move will potentially puts Kommo-o in range of being knocked out. Therefore, it is safer to avoid lowering your Kommo-o's defenses while still maintaining offensive pressure. Against bulky special attackers such as Meloetta and Volcarona, Kommo-o should use Clanging Scales and Flamethrower in order to get them in range of Close Combat, as they both have ways to raise their Special Defense, (RC) but not their Defense. One of the times you should avoid using Clangorous Soulblaze on Turn One is when you are Kommo-o is against hyper offensive Pokemon that you it can hit super effectively with Close Combat or Flamethrower, such as Mega Lopunny, Kartana, and Choice Scarf Porygon-Z. This is because not only can Kommo-o OHKO these threats with said moves, but also because Kommo-o is will neither be able to outspeed these threats after a Speed boost from Clangorous Soulblaze nor be able to tank multiple hits from these Pokemon. Kommo-o should also refrain from attacking immediately against stall Pokemon, (RC) and instead opt to shutting down any and all of their status moves by using Taunt. This prevents losing to Toxic stall, Leech Seed stall, and Recovery stall from Pokemon such as Mega Aggron, Mega Venusaur, and Blissey. Avoid sending Kommo-o against any Fairy- and Dragon-type pokemon, as Kommo-o just flat out (reader probably understands) cannot deal with any of them, (RC) except stall Tapu Bulu and Zygarde, respectfully. Kommo-o's should never need its hidden ability, Overcoat, to beat powder move users. The most common powder move abusers users in the 1v1 metagame are Jumpluff, Mega Venusaur, Vivillon, Breloom and Smeargle. Against Jumpluff and Breloom, even if they outspeed and use Spore on you Kommo-o, they cannot rely on Substitute for avoiding damage, as either Clangorous Soulblaze or Taunt will can bypass their Substitutes and ruin their strategies strategy. Against Mega Venusaur, taunting Taunt immediately shuts down Sleep Powder before it can use it. Against Smeargle, you Kommo-o can use Clangorous Soulblaze even if your its moves are imprisoned, so using your its Z-Move as soon as you wake it wakes up will OHKOes Smeargle, (RC) if you are Kommo-o is running Bulletproof. Against Vivillon, you lose Kommo-o loses even if you have it has Overcoat, (RC) because they just use it just uses Z-Hurricane Supersonic Skystrike immediately and OHKOes Kommo-o. Another specific matchup that should be clarified is against Aegislash. Aegislash is a tricky Pokemon to deal with, (RC) thanks to its access to King's Shield. However, Soundproof Kommo-o can consistently beat Aegislash if these steps are followed. On Turn One, Kommo-o should use Clangorous Soulblaze to boost your its defenses before Aegislash attacks; this is essential in avoiding significant damage from Aegislash's Z-Move of choice. Soundproof Kommo-o is immune to Metal Sound, and therefore does not need to care about a Turn One Metal Sound being used on Turn One. On Turn Two, Kommo-o should use the move Taunt, as this will disable disables the Aegislash's King's Shield from then on, keeping it in the frailer Blade form. Then, Kommo-o should attack Aegislash with Flamethrower until Aegislash falls is knocked out; this combination of attacks will guarantees that Kommo-o beats Aegislash every time, as Kommo-o lives survives either a Z-Shadow Ball or Z-Flash Cannon into the normal base moves of either into Shadow Sneak. Bulletproof Aegislash will (AC) unfortunately (AC) have to predict a 50 / 50 against Metal Sound Aegislash, (RC) on whether or not it uses Metal Sound or attacks, making it less reliable; however, against Aegislash that don't run Metal Sound, Bulletproof follows the same process.

Team Options
========
Kommo-o is generally defensively weak against Fairy-, Ice-, Psychic-, Flying-, and Dragon-type Pokemon, so naturally bulky Steel-types such as Magearna, Heatran, Aegislash, and Mega Metagross can all provide an excellent defensive backbone against most threats of the aforementioned types, such as Mega Altaria, offensive Mew, Kyurem (AC) and Vivillon. Kommo-o can also cover the weaknesses possessed by Steel-types by reliably beating most Ground-, Fire-, and Fighting-types, such as Sturdy Pokemon, Zygarde, Heatran, and standard Mega Lopunny. Alongside the Steel-types, run options in order to cover up a few patches matchups that Steel-types don't universally cover, such as against Mega Charizard X, Z-Fly Supersonic Skystrike Landorus-Therian, Dragonite (AC) and Naganadel. Mega Slowbro, Stored Power Necrozma, Mega Gyarados, Chansey (AC) and Blissey can all fill this role. In exchange, Kommo-o can defend against beat most Dark- and Fighting-type Pokemon such as Mega Gyarados, Greninja, Pheromosa, and Keldeo. Besides the aforementioned, Kommo-o can appreciates Pokemon that universally cover Dragon-types, as, except for Zygarde, they all have favorable matchups against Kommo-o. Pokemon that can beat every viable Dragon-type in the metagame include specially defensive Mega Altaria and Mega Diancie. Sturdy users, (RC) such as Magnezone, Crustle, Donphan, and Carracosta can also serve as excellent teammates, as they can tank overwelming overwhelming offensive moves that Kommo-o has trouble with, such as a Z-Hyper BeamBreakneck Blitz from Porygon-Z and Outrage from Mega Charizard X, (RC) and hit back hard in retaliation (already said back). Magnezone is especially relevant, as it can take on Fairy-ype Fairy-type Pokemon in the tier, as well. In return, the Sturdy Pokemon appreciate the favorable matchups Kommo-o has against traditional Sturdy breakers, (RC) such as Mega Gyarados and Mega Lopunny.

[STRATEGY COMMENTS]

Other Options
=============
Kommo-o can run a faster, less bulky variant with 88 HP / 28 Atk / 4 Def / 136 SpA / 252 Spe EVs and a Timid nature in order to outspeed and beat bulky Mega Charizard X and Modest Normalium Breakneck Blitz Porygon-Z, both of which are threats to standard Kommo-o, while still being able to beat Mega Lopunny and Mega Gyarados. However, it now with this set it loses against to virtually every special attacker it could can beat previously with the standard set, and thus this set should only be run as a niche anti-meta option with very supportive teammates. Substitute can give Kommo-o an out against let Kommo-o survive powerful moves such as Prismatic Laser from Choice Specs Necrozma, (RC) as well as and is an alternative to Taunt in avoiding status conditions and Counter from Pokemon like Chansey and Pyukumuku. Focus Blast is an alternative to Close Combat, which removes the need to run 28 Attack EVs, allowing a 240 HP / 112 SpA / 100 SpD / 56 Spe EV spread instead (with Calm nature) (remove parentheses). This will also avoids the drops in defenses associated with Close Combat, (RC) but also hinders Kommo-o's reliability with in beating Fighting-Type weak Fighting-weak Pokemon, as Focus Blast has an abysmal 70% accuracy (Three cheers for Focus Blast Miss!). Additionally, this will only makes the matchup against Chansey and Blissey even harder, as even though you can prevent healing with Taunt, your damage output and accuracy will allows them to potentially Seismic Toss Kommo-o to death zero HP (Pokemon don't die). You will also lose Kommo-o also loses to specially defensive Pokemon such as Meloetta and Volcarona, since you can no longer hit them physically. Counter allows Kommo-o to knock out relatively bulky physical threats that Kommo-o cannot normally take out, such as against Mega Metagross and Choice Scarf Landorus-Therian.

Checks and Counters
===================

**Fairy-type Moves and Pokemon**: Kommo-o is 4x weak to Fairy-Types Fairy-type moves defensively, and thus it can neither cannot take a single Fairy-type hit from any relevant Pokemon, (RC) nor can it effectively deal damage to any of them. These Pokemon include Magearna, Tapu Lele, Tapu Fini, Primarina, Mega Altaria, Mega Gardevoir, Mega Mawile, Mega Diancie, Togekiss, and Nihilego (Nihilego is not a Fairy-type, so specify its move Dazzling Gleam.).

**Dragon-, Flying-, and Psychic-type Pokemon**: While Kommo-o has the capabilities capability to beat relevant powerhouses such as Choice Specs Greninja or and Air Slash Mega Charizard Y, anything stronger will breaks it. Beware of Pokemon like Dragonite, Mega Charizard X, offensive Mew, Naganadel, Archeops, and Mega Medicham.

**Un-Tauntable Stall**: Kommo-o's only real way of beating stall is in the form of Taunt. If Kommo-o encounters forms of stall Pokemon immune to Taunt, such as Mega Slowbro and Mega Sableye, this will present an issue is presented, as even with an omniboost a boost of all its stats from Clangorous Soulblaze, they the opponent will be is able to sufficiently set up their defenses and heal off any damage.

**Overwhelmingly Powerful Attacks**: While rare, there are some extremely powerful offensive threats that Kommo-o cannot beat, even if they only hit it neutrally. These include Pokemon such as fast Z-Hyper Beam Breakneck Blitz or and Choice Specs Porygon-Z, Hypnosis + Hex Mega Gengar (while Kommo-o is asleep) if Kommo-o is asleep, and Choice Band Giga Impact Slaking (Substitute?).

Usage Tips
========

========

===================

[OVERVIEW]

Kommo-o is an excellent bulky offense Pokemon mixed attacker in the 1v1 metagame, with a powerful offensive typing in Dragon / Fighting and the abilty to run viable mixed attacking strategies ability to beat common Pokemon such as Mega Gyarados, Mega Lopunny, and Aegislash. It also has access to the only Z-Move that deals damage and boosts all stats, Clangorous Soulblaze, which gives Kommo-o it the power necessary to beat threats such as Greninja, Mega Charizard Y, and Zygarde. Besides that, Kommo-o can utilize other moveset options such as Close Combat, Flamethrower, and Taunt, allowing it to hit both physically and specially, and assisting in knocking out Pokemon such as Mega Gyarados, Mega Lopunny, and Aegislash. (honestly this is pretty redundant and i've shifted the relevant information to another sentence in the overview; we already know it's a mixed attacker and you don't need to list out its entire moveset in the overview) Kommo-o also has a somewhat rare niche of being able to beat almost every single Sturdy Pokemon in the metagame, being Golem, Donphan, Crustle, Carracosta, Aggron, Aron, Togedemaru, Magnemite, Relicanth, and Magnezone, (RC) and Magneton. (I really, really don't think you need to list out literally every one of them. It drags on for a long time and is overwhelming) It only loses to Skarmory, thanks to Supersonic Skystrike. Defensively, Kommo-o can also be EVed in order to With some defensive EV investment, Kommo-o can tank several powerful attacks such as Ice Beam from Choice Specs Greninja, Air Slash from Mega Charizard Y, and Outrage from Mega Gyarados, (RC) without compromising its ability to reliably beat its other matchups.

Moves
========

Clanging Scales, and its Z-Move version Clangorous Soulblaze (mentioned in the next sentence), serve as Kommo-o's main offensive STAB(STAB is not a noun unless talking specifically about the bonus), naturally knocking out serves as Kommo-o's main STAB attack, OHKOing Pokemon such as Greninja and Zygarde, (RC) while also 2HKOing Pokemon such as offensive Mega Gyarados and Mega Venusaur. However, the main importance of this move is that the Z-Move Its corresponding Z-Move, Clangorous Soulblaze, also boosts all of Kommo-o's stats by one stage, giving Kommo-o it not only the bulk to tank moves such as Never-Ending Nightmare from Aegislash and Tectonic Rage into Ice Shard from Donphan, but also the Speed necessary to outspeed base 100 Speed Pokemon such as Mega Charizard Y, Genesect, and Meloetta. Lastly, (not the last point in the paragraph) Clanging Scales and Clangorous Soulblaze are both sound-based moves, allowing them to go through substitutes bypass Substitutes from Pokemon such as Jumpluff and Flail Mega Lopunny. Close Combat serves as an excellent coverage STAB option, allowing allows Kommo-o to take on Steel-types like Heatran, Magnezone, and Mega Aggron, (RC) that resist Kommo-o's Dragon-type STAB attacks. It can also more effectively deal with specially defensive Pokemon such as Mega Tyranitar, Chansey, Blissey, and Meloetta, all of wich which could be issues for Kommo-o if they are allowed to set up or stall. Unfortunately, the drawback of using Close Combat is that it decreases of Kommo-o's defenses by one stage every time it is used, so don't spam it in matchups against Pokemon like Mega Aggron and Meloetta, where sufficient bulk is important. Flamethrower is also a very useful coverage option, allowing allows Kommo-o to beat Pokemon such as Genesect, Scizor, stall Tapu Bulu, and Aegislash. It is also useful when Kommo-o needs to deal small chip damage rather than deal huge damage, or when Kommo-o needs to avoid a stat debuff from Close Combat or Clanging Scales against Pokemon such as Mega Aggron, Volcarona, and Meloetta. Flamethrower also helps damage Volcarona without activating Swarm, as well as when Kommo-o needs to avoid stat drops from Close Combat and Clanging Scales against Pokemon such as Mega Aggron, Volcarona, and Meloetta. Taunt shuts down several stall Pokemon such as Celesteela, Pyukumuku, Chansey, and Blissey, as well as prevents preventing Aegislash from using King's Shield to enter its Shield forme or Metal Sound / or Laser Focus to bypass Bulletproof (doesn't matter vs laser focus and therefore doesn't apply to this sentence) Kommo-o's Special Defense.

Set Details

The 240 HP / 100 SpD 240 HP and 100 Special Defense EVs with a Calm nature are used to ensure Kommo-o survives a Choice Specs Greninja's Ice Beam and other powerful special attacks like Choice Scarf Porygon-Z's Hyper Beam, Choice Specs Genesect's Ice Beam, and Mega Charizard Y's Air Slash. The 240 HP EVs maximize Kommo-o's physical bulk, letting it tank a Zen Headbutt from Adamant Choice Band Victini and a maximum invested Attack Mega Gyarados' Outrage, (AC) Outrage from an offensive Mega Gyarados, (AC) and a Fake Out into Giga Impact from an Adamant Mega Lopunny relatively comfortably. The 28 Attack EVs guarantees guarantee (EVs is plural) that Kommo-o's Close Combat is able to OHKO standard Mega Lopunny, even with a Calm Nature. The 56 EVs in Speed allow Kommo-o to reach 330 Speed after a Clangorous Soulblaze, letting Kommo-o it outspeed and defeat Pokemon such as Mega Charizard Y, Choice Band Victini, and stall Mew. The 84 EVs in Special Attack are leftovers The remaining EVs are put into Special Attack, allowing Kommo-o to OHKO Greninja with Clangorous Soulblaze. Both Bulletproof and Soundproof can be run on Kommo-o, as each ability has its own niche. Soundproof ensures Kommo-o doesn't autolose a matchup against always lose to Ditto and avoids a 50 / 50 an unreliable matchup against Metal Sound Aegislash. Bulletproof can be used to avoid taking damage from moves like Shadow Ball from Aegislash and Sludge Bomb from Mega Venusaur, thus preventing unwanted secondary effects in either matchup, (AC) and allows Kommo-o to beat a Transformed Smeargle with Clangorous Soulblaze, as a Transformed Smeargle with Soundproof would be immune to it.

This strategy guarantees that Kommo-o always beats Aegislash, as +1 Kommo-o survives Aegislash's Z-Move followed by Shadow Ball or Flash Cannon and Shadow Sneak.

Usage Tips
========
Kommo-o should normally use Clangorous Soulblaze on Turn One the first turn so that its stats are boosted as soon as possible. Not doing so can cause Kommo-o to fail to beat Pokemon such as bulky Genesect, Donphan, and Mega Charizard Y, as it is either too weak or too frail to knock them out or avoid being knocked out. it can outspeed and KO Pokemon such as Mega Charizard Y and bulky Genesect and avoid being KOed by Pokemon like Donphan. If Kommo-o cannot immediately knock out the opposing Pokemon after Clangorous Soulblaze, it should chip away at the opposing Pokemon's health with the weaker moves in the matchup to get the opposing Pokemon in range of a knock-out KO, because Kommo-o's main STAB options, Clanging Scales and Close Combat, both gradually reduce its defenses; continued usage of either move potentially puts Kommo-o in range of being knocked out. Therefore, it is safer to avoid lowering Kommo-o's defenses while still maintaining offensive pressure. (already covered at the start) Against bulky special attackers such as Meloetta and Volcarona, Kommo-o should use Clanging Scales and Flamethrower in order to get them in range of Close Combat, as they both have ways to raise their Special Defense but not their Defense. One of the times you should avoid using Clangorous Soulblaze on Turn One is when Kommo-o is Kommo-o should not use Clangorous Soulblaze immediately against hyper offensive Pokemon that it can hit super effectively OHKO with unboosted Close Combat or Flamethrower, such as Mega Lopunny, Kartana, and Choice Scarf Porygon-Z. This is because not only can Kommo-o OHKO these threats with said moves, but also because Kommo-o is neither able to outspeed these threats after a Speed boost from Clangorous Soulblaze nor able to tank multiple hits from these Pokemon. (just saying the moves ohko is enough of a reason to use them, don't need to go further into detail about it) Kommo-o should also refrain from attacking immediately against stall Pokemon and instead opt to shut down any and all of their status moves by using Taunt. This prevents Kommo-o from losing to Toxic stall, Leech Seed stall, and Recovery recovery stall from Pokemon such as Mega Aggron, Mega Venusaur, and Blissey. Avoid sending Kommo-o in against any Fairy- and Dragon-type pokemon, as Kommo-o cannot deal with any of them except stall Tapu Bulu and Zygarde. Another specific matchup that should be clarified is against Aegislash. (fluff) Aegislash is a tricky Pokemon to deal with thanks to its access to King's Shield. However, Soundproof Kommo-o can consistently beat Aegislash if these steps are followed. On Turn One turn one, Kommo-o should use Clangorous Soulblaze to boost its defenses before Aegislash attacks; this is essential in avoiding significant damage from Aegislash's Z-Move. Soundproof Kommo-o is immune to Metal Sound, and therefore it does not need to care about Metal Sound being used on Turn One turn one. On Turn Two, Kommo-o should use the move Taunt, as this disables Aegislash's King's Shield from then on, keeping it in the frailer Blade form. Then, Kommo-o should attack Aegislash with Flamethrower until Aegislash is knocked out; this combination of attacks guarantees that Kommo-o beats Aegislash every time, as Kommo-o survives either a Z-Shadow Ball or Z-Flash Cannon into the base moves of either into Shadow Sneak Then, Kommo-o should use Taunt to disable King's Shield and then KO Aegislash with Flamethrower. This strategy guarantees that Kommo-o always beats Aegislash, as +1 Kommo-o survives Aegislash's Z-Move followed by Shadow Ball or Flash Cannon and Shadow Sneak. Bulletproof Aegislash (lol) Against Metal Sound Aegislash, Bulletproof Kommo-o will unfortunately have to predict a 50 / 50 against Metal Sound Aegislash on whether or not it uses Metal Sound or attacks, making it Bulletproof Kommo-o less reliable; (RSC) however, against Aegislash that don't run Metal Sound, Bulletproof follows the same process. (realistically unusable advice in general play; keep the period pls)

Team Options
========
Kommo-o is generally defensively weak against Fairy-, Ice-, Psychic-, Flying-, and Dragon-type Pokemon, so naturally bulky Steel-types such as Magearna, Heatran, Aegislash, and Mega Metagross can all provide an excellent defensive backbone against most threats of the aforementioned types, such as Mega Altaria, offensive Mew, Kyurem, and Vivillon. Kommo-o can also cover the weaknesses possessed by Steel-types by reliably beating most Ground-, Fire-, and Fighting-types, such as Sturdy Pokemon, Zygarde, Heatran, and standard Mega Lopunny. Alongside the Steel-types, run options in order to cover up a few matchups that Steel-types don't universally cover, such as against Mega Charizard X, Supersonic Skystrike Landorus-Therian Landorus-T, Dragonite, and Naganadel. Pokemon that can beat every viable Dragon-type in the metagame include Mega Diancie and specially defensive Mega Altaria and Mega Diancie. Sturdy users such as Magnezone, Crustle, Donphan, and Carracosta can also serve as excellent teammates, as they can tank overwhelming offensive moves that Kommo-o has trouble with, such as a Breakneck Blitz from Porygon-Z and Outrage from Mega Charizard X, (AC) and hit back hard. Magnezone is especially relevant, as it can take on Fairy-type Pokemon in the tier. In return, Sturdy Pokemon appreciate the favorable matchups Kommo-o has against traditional Sturdy breakers such as Mega Gyarados and Mega Lopunny.

Other Options
=============
Focus Blast is an alternative to Close Combat, (RC) which that removes the need to run 28 Attack EVs, allowing a 240 HP / 112 SpA / 100 SpD / 56 Spe EV spread instead with a Calm nature. This also avoids the drops in defenses associated with Close Combat but hinders Kommo-o's reliability in beating Fighting-weak Pokemon, as Focus Blast has an abysmal 70% accuracy. Additionally, this only makes the matchup against Chansey and Blissey even harder, as even though you can prevent healing with Taunt, your damage output and accuracy allows them to potentially Seismic Toss Kommo-o to zero HP KO Kommo-o by repeatedly using Seismic Toss. Kommo-o also loses to specially defensive Pokemon such as Meloetta and Volcarona, since you can no longer hit them physically. Counter allows Kommo-o to knock out relatively bulky physical threats that Kommo-o cannot normally take out, such as Mega Metagross and Choice Scarf Landorus-Therian Landorus-T.

Checks and Counters
===================

**Un-Tauntable Stall Stall Pokemon Immune to Taunt**: Kommo-o's only real way of beating stall is in the form of Taunt.

With some defensive EV investment, Kommo-o can tank several powerful attacks such as Ice Beam from Choice Specs Greninja, Air Slash from Mega Charizard Y, and Outrage from Mega Gyarados without compromising its ability to reliably beat overcome its other matchups.

This prevents Kommo-o from losing to Toxic, Leech Seed, and recovery stall from Pokemon such as Mega Aggron, Mega Venusaur, and Blissey. Avoid sending Kommo-o in against any Fairy- and Dragon-type Pokemon, as Kommo-o it cannot deal with any of them except stall Tapu Bulu and Zygarde. Aegislash is a tricky Pokemon to deal with thanks to its access to King's Shield. However, Soundproof Kommo-o can consistently beat Metal Sound Aegislash if these through the following steps are followed. Against Metal Sound Aegislash, Bulletproof Kommo-o will unfortunately have to predict whether or not it uses Metal Sound or attacks, making Bulletproof Kommo-o this variant less reliable.

Team Options
========

Kommo-o is generally weak against Fairy-, Ice-, Psychic-, Flying-, and Dragon-type Pokemon; (SC) so naturally bulky Steel-types such as Magearna, Heatran, Aegislash, and Mega Metagross can all provide an excellent defensive backbone against most threats of the aforementioned types, such as Mega Altaria, offensive Mew, Kyurem, and Vivillon.

Other Options
=============

Focus Blast is an alternative to Close Combat that removes the need to run 28 Attack EVs, allowing a 240 HP / 112 SpA / 100 SpD / 56 Spe EV spread instead with a Calm nature. This also and avoids the drops in defenses associated with Close Combat. (AP) but However, it hinders Kommo-o's reliability in beating Fighting-weak Pokemon, as Focus Blast has an thanks to its abysmal 70% accuracy. Additionally, this only makes the matchup against Chansey and Blissey even harder, as even though you Kommo-o can prevent healing with Taunt, your its damage output and accuracy allows them to potentially KO Kommo-o by repeatedly using Seismic Toss. Kommo-o also loses to specially defensive Pokemon such as Meloetta and Volcarona, since you it can no longer hit them physically. Counter allows Kommo-o to knock out relatively bulky physical threats that Kommo-o it cannot normally take out, such as Mega Metagross and Choice Scarf Landorus-T.

Checks and Counters
===================
