NOC New World NOC - GAME OVER

was nier that good

Yeah I really think so. I'm really into games that focus on the story and as far as story goes it might be my second favorite. It's definitely a game that I'm planning to play through again really soon, which is pretty rare for me.

I would like to think that I'm very not a weeb? But honestly thinking about it maybe I am a weeb more than I'd like to think but my excuse is that japanese blood runs through my veins. anyways I think the game is very "Japanese" in the sense that it can be very convoluted and that lots of things that seem important aren't explained very well or at all? Some of this stuff is explained but its outside of the game which is a little disappointing. and i guess the game does seem very weeb/anime, but idk that's probably a personal preference because nothing like that really bothered me. so anyways beyond all that I think the game is actually quite intelligent? Like not in a pretentious, shove it in your face way but in the sense that it has some very interesting themes that make you want to think about the world and characters of the game. And I really enjoyed that. It's funny because a lot of the convolutedness of the story means that the world you play in isn't necessarily the greatest/most enjoyable (doesn't compare to horizon for instance for me), but the characters in the game are just so good that it makes those details not as important. Without revealing too much, there's a handful of characters in the game that are really well created and written imo that it takes away the stuff I don't like/care about. And the way the story is written, a lot of the complexity of the characters is quite nuanced, and it's only when thinking about the game afterwards that I realized how good they were. Idk it's tough to put into words other than saying that it's a game worth playing. Lol.

Also the soundtrack is S tier. Soundtracks are kinda always just there for me, but the way they set the mood in the game is incredibly good. Like I can recognize a good soundtrack I think but it's the one game I've played that just has a perfect soundtrack in how it sets the tone of the game and captures the emotions of different areas/scenes.

this is probably the most positive review i[ve seen of nier in a while

it's 26 on steam right now. feels like a low price for a game released in 2017 but i guess steam always handles sales like that?

or at the very least I think its a decent vote, really I think DS is the optimal vote but I don't think I can actually prevent my own lynch if I go ride or die on DS.
