Metagame Trademarked

Approved by The Immortal and E4 Flint /Original idea from Snaquaza / Taken over from Whitephoenixace

Banner by Gravity Monkey

Premise: In trademarked, you can give up your pokemons' ability to be able to use one of the status moves it learns to have it activate upon switch in without limit (though no longer being able to use it in your movepool).

Clauses:
  • Single Trademark Clause. (1 of each trademark per team).
  • Sleep Clause
  • Species Clause
  • OHKO Clause
  • Evasion Clause
  • Endless Battle Clause

Banlist:
  • Trademarked Moves: Baneful bunker, Baton Pass(as a move as well), Block, Copycat, Corrosive Gas, Detect, Destiny Bond, Disable, Encore, Fairy Lock, Ingrain, Instruct, King's Shield, Mat Block, Mean Look, Memento, Metronome, Obstruct, Octolock, Nature Power, Parting Shot, Protect, Psycho Shift, Roar, Skill Swap, Spiky Shield, Sleep inducing moves (Spore, Grasswhistle, Sing, Lovely Kiss, Hypnosis, Sleep Powder, Yawn), Sleep Talk, Substitute, Switcheroo, Teleport, Trick, Wish, Whirlwind are banned as trademarks.
  • Abilities: Arena Trap, Power Construct, Shadow Tag, Moody
  • Pokemon: Calyrex-Ice, Calyrex-Shadow, Darmanitan-Galar, Dialga, Dracovish, Dragapult, Eternatus, Kartana, Giratina, Giratina-Origin, Genesect, Groudon, Ho-Oh, Kyogre, Kyurem-Black, Kyurem-White, Lugia, Lunala, Magearna, Marshadow, Melmetal, Mewtwo, Naganadel, Necrozma-Dawn-Wings, Necrozma-Dusk-Mane, Palkia, Pheromosa, Rayquaza, Reshiram, Solgaleo, Spectrier, Urshifu-S, Victini, Xerneas, Yveltal, Zacian, Zacian-Crowned, Zamazenta, Zamazenta-Crowned, Zekrom, Zygarde-50%
  • Dynamaxing
Watchlist: Trademarks: Shell Smash
Pokemon: Urshifu-Rapid, Regigigas

Strategy: In this meta mons can setup more easily as they can simply swap into gain a boost as opposed to having to force something out or swallow a hit. Defensive mons can also abuse stat dropping moves vs foes with stuff like charm, or confide, to get the edge vs mons that may not be using boosting moves or to weaken mons that are using them especially since they would in most cases no longer have a move in there movepool to use to further boost there stats if they use it as their trademark. Hazard setup and removal is also made much easier as you can now simply use it on switchin (though hazard stacking at that point will definitely not be as easy). Overall mons with setup as trademarks need to be prepped for (especially choiced ones) and the mons that may abuse stat drop status moves will make u more weary when u swap in your setter.

Questions:

Q: How does trademark interact with the likes of trace, skill swap and other ability transfer/ removal moves and abilities?
A:
All ability changing moves work as they normally due. It still does what it needs to as a move though. Entrainment as a trademark seems to cause an infinite turn however and the same case with skill swap as tm.

Q: How does taunt and assault vest effect trademarks?
A:
Taunt in any case whether or not it treated status like moves or abilities, trademarks only activate when the pokemon is sent out and even in the case of the taunt user being faster, there's will activate before you send out your other trademarked mon. I have tested the gen 6 variant on rom regarding assault vest and they trademarks with them, which seems to be the past owner snaquaza's intentions based on a quote placed further on , so such will stay the case.

Q:How does magic bounce, magic coat and imprison affect trademarks?
A:
Magic bounce and magic coat rebound status moves as trademark back as they should, however imprison doesnt block trademarks.

Q: Can trademarks miss or run out of pp?
A:
They do not run out of pp as they are essentially abilities. However coding wise, as of current, though I wish they hadnt, trademarks do check accuracy. So if it has a chance to miss, it could.

Q: What happens to moves that were snapped ?
A
: Trademarked as a meta only allows the mons to use status moves that they learn naturally, so since in gen 8 they no longer have access to that move, they can no longer use it as a trademark.

Q: Why does transform not activate trademarks like normal abilities?
A:
Due to a change in ps coding its not possible as of this gen for them to activate on transformations like they did last gen unfortunately.

Kommo-o @ Throat Spray
Ability: Clangorous Soul
EVs: 252 SpA / 4 SpD / 252 Spe
Timid Nature
IVs: 0 Atk
- Dragon Pulse
- Aura Sphere
- Boomburst
- Flamethrower

Well, this is terrifying. Instantly gets +1 everything, including an extra +1 to Sp.Atk with Throat Spray, for the cost of only 33% health. This could really hurt if your opponent's out of Haze users.

Falinks @ Shed Shell
Ability: No Retreat
EVs: 252 Atk / 4 Def / 252 Spe
Jolly Nature
- Close Combat
- First Impression
- Zen Headbutt
- Rock Slide

This is another +1 to all stats mon but is much less of a sweeper and more of something you can actually bring out multiple times in a match, thanks to not taking a chunk of damage every time it switches in.

Cinderace @ Heavy-Duty Boots
Ability: Court Change
EVs: 252 Atk / 4 SpD / 252 Spe
Jolly Nature
- Pyro Ball
- High Jump Kick
- Sucker Punch
- U-turn

Hazard swapping is always fun, but there is the issue of not being able to bring this out again without swapping them back and it's not very bulky at all, but it's pretty powerful nonetheless.

Also, shouldn't Obstruct be banned if King's Shield is?

Mfw I realized Wish Chansey isn't in this meta anymore.

My beautiful boy Quag aside, here's some actual sets.

Hatterene (F) @ Choice Specs/Life Orb
Ability: Trick Room
EVs: 252 HP / 252 SpA / 4 SpD
Quiet Nature
IVs: 0 Atk / 0 Spe
- Psyshock
- Dazzling Gleam
- Mystical Fire
- Shadow Ball/Calm Mind
Hatterene is as slow as it is strong and the ability to set trick room on switch in makes it a terrifying threat. Specs is absurdly strong but life orb and the ability to switch moves with it's great coverage and calm mind is useful too.

Dragapult @ Life Orb
Ability: Reflect/Light Screen
EVs: 4 HP / 252 Atk / 252 Spe
Adamant Nature
- Dragon Darts
- Reflect/Light Screen
- Dragon Dance
- U-turn
All of this things abilities are fine but not undroppable. Running one of the screens makes it a really good setter on ho teams, pivoting out to something dangerous or setting up Dragon Dance and hitting things hard.

Gengar @ Choice Scarf
Ability: Nasty Plot
EVs: 252 SpA / 4 SpD / 252 Spe
Timid Nature
IVs: 0 Atk
- Shadow Ball
- Sludge Bomb
- Focus Blast
- Trick
This thing seems so good. This set can run life orb, Scarf, Specs whatever you like, it'll probably do exactly what you need it to. With no pursuit it's going to be super threatening every time it gets in (and it will get in, it's what it does) and without Chansey around, it's going to be difficult to stop.

Glad to be back in the business of guiding trademarked this gen. As some of you may have already noticed Substitute has been unbanned . This is the due to nerfs of some of its major abuser and its debatable enabler in chansey being removed. ON that note once the meta gets back into gear if necessary another suspect could be done to ban it once again.

I hope that this gen trademark can be pretty fun compared to the sub/wish/chansey induced hell of last gen.

We didnt get too many abusable status moves this gen (and some of the ones that we did like octolock and obstruct had to get banned), but we did get some movepool expansions as well as some new mons to utilize.

Hydreigon and Gengar got nasty plot and will most likely be threats in their own right especially with chansey gone

Kommo-o got access to clangorous soul

blastoise once it comes out got access to both life dew and shell smash

A new mon in polteagiest is here who has both shell smash and stored power access
Corviknight also has solid options with already being bulky in iron defense, tailwind , oddly enough screens and can pivot with u turn.

This only some stuff I noticed but I plan to try and post stuff later on as I am finally free from exams so will have more time to post.

Thanks to all and please know that all opinions are welcomed and I intend to try and run this meta as fairly as I can (and hopefully with more activity than last gen lol).

New in Gen 8 Trademarked: Defog removes terrains, therefore making terrain teams function not-so-well (and that's the sound of Hawlucha either using a trademark or going with White Herb):
Didn't see it on the main post, so posting it: Defog removes terrain now

Source:
We swell folk get to merely switch in our Defog trademark guy and eliminate the terrain nonsense.

How will Trademarked deal with snapped moves (e.g. Heart Swap), though? Just have the non-NatDex version ban them completely?

No learny no usy as trademarky .

In other news though since the tapus are gone, terrains as trademarks become far more usable.

Psychic terrain users

Screenshot_20191130-064900-2.jpg

Most notable is gardevoir who rocks offensive stats and coverage close to leles and can abuse psyterrain to a similar level especially since it has access to mystical firr as coverage and can afford to run a different ability

Grassy terrain
Screenshot_20191130-064900-1.jpg

Guess which meta other than aaa gets grassy terrain rillaboom early lol. This thing is faster than bulu, bulkier specially, and has better coverage, and only lacks 5 less base atk. Roserade and shiftry may also be nice users.

Misty terrain

Screenshot_20191130-064853-1.jpg

Support mons can utilize this week in sylveon, aromatisse or clefable. Or maybe some other gimmick set. Not much to say but def usable

Was looking at electric terrain as well but stronget abusers wpuld be maybr either heliolisk or manectric. Either way they dont pack too much of a punch but then again koko in itself made hell with lower spa (though it was much fastet than both).

Defog removing terrain now may make these more awkward though lol but I hope people make use of these and other options.

Ok finally found the motivation to hit my laptop so just came to make a few announcements going into the new year

Just as OU banned dynamaxing it is also now banned in Trademarked. There are even more tools in this meta where instant setup is prevalent as well as other things like trick room abilities etc, so naturally it wouild only end up becoming even more of an overal problem in trademarked especially with some mons getting better moves to use as trademarks like Hydreigon and Gengar.

I also shifted Shell smash on the watch list as of what heavy said though overall I am curious as to what setup will be like in gen 8 Trademarked. Shame we came so close to winning this month but good to know that there is interest in the meta nonetheless.

well thats pretty much it, lol but I will try to be more active in here as I mostly stayed quiet cause ive been a bit demotivated lately but I am trying to be more positive nowadays :D.
Wish all well and hopefully we can have a funner meta than the sub / wish times of gen 7.

When you fought you finally were rid of chansey but it makes it return . Smh.

Well that may mean that wish may be put on the chopping block next time around. Dont think it may be banworthy right now though but will have to see.

Gf did the unexpected and added dlc so far in terms of mons returning there was the pretty nuch team staple chansey which I would like to be rid of or rid of wish if wish proves to be bad even without chansey. Chansey also returning in the first wave of dlc btw.

Tapus are returning so mons with terraisn arent as good as settès but can still run their own moves of choice nonetheless

Tapu koko and bulu have the chance of getting play rough by tr and lele and koko could easily end up with mystical fire (which has large distribution among fairies) and fini could end up wifh a pseudo regen if it ends up learning life dew which imo is lilely do the nature of its lore.

Chomp and Volcarona are also returning and a noteable sub mon in heatran (damnit ti). All legends are making a return along with some new ones and galar forms of gen 1 bird trio. We are also expecting a few new tutor moves from each dlc pack so will really have to see how meta shapes up over the next 9 months ontop of home coming out in FEb giving mons moves they couldnt access in swsh.

If suspect opportunity comes around i will test wish first before sub to see how it goes. And thereafter any mon that may be abusing if necessary the other option as wish and sub always felt like it went hand in hand in terms of being broken which made it difficult for me to choose what would go.

Nonetheless many blessings to all and to all a good day.
FB_IMG_15568873570774824.jpg

Looking forward to trying a Rocks setter Kommo-o like this:

Kommo-o @ Leftovers
Ability: Clangorous Soul
EVs: 4 HP / 252 Atk / 252 Spe
Jolly Nature
- Stealth Rock
- Drain Punch
- Poison Jab / Iron Head
- Dragon Claw / Outrage / Taunt / Substitute

Note that Drain Punch is in so it recovers health back quite a lot better than Leftovers alone will.

You can try Hasty and Clanging Scales if you really need the damage on Cloyster or something like that.

In the meantime, this fast pivot will sting:

Dragapult @ Heavy-Duty Boots / Choice Scarf / Choice Band / Life Orb
Ability: Dragon Dance
EVs: 252 Atk / 4 SpD / 252 Spe
Jolly / Adamant Nature
- U-turn
- Dragon Darts
- Phantom Force / Will-o-Wisp
- Sucker Punch / Will-o-Wisp

Phantom Force is likely worse in Choice sets. I'm a cautious person who likes priority on every team, so I'm inclined to use Sucker Punch, but Dragapult has a lot of vaguely mediocre 4th move options.

Fire Blast might be an option, but then you'll need to invest in Special Attack to get pivotal 2HKOs.

Falinks seems like a huge winner in this meta.

With No Retreat as its ability and Shed Shell, it effectively has 65/174/159/114/99/136 base stat.
Making No Retreat also allows Falinks to use its other set up moves such as Swords Dance, Bulk Up, and Agility, to boost it even further.
Although, this comes at the cost of being able to switch if you lose Shed Shell, is not Unaware proof, and can be Hazed still.

Set:
Falinks @ Shed Shell
Ability: No Retreat
EVs: 4 HP / 252 Atk / 252 Spe
Jolly Nature
- Close Combat
- Rock Slide/Throat Chop
- Swords Dance/Bulk Up
- Throat Chop/Agility

alright

since there are way less Gen 5 mons in SwSh than in other games, I've decided to do the thing I do sometimes (twice) where I list something involving Gen 5. So let's go through every Gen 5 mon's learnset and see what moves they could use!

Notable moves: Thunder Wave, Encore, Nasty Plot, Hone Claws, Taunt

Liepard is... alright. Its stat spread is underwhelming, and you're better off using something else. It can set Rain and Sun, but there are a lot of mons who can set Rain and Sun in Trademarked. Thunder Wave still has a 90% chance of hitting so it's not as accurate as you'd want it to be.

Notable moves: Wish, Psychic Terrain, Magic Coat, Moonlight, Calm Mind, Reflect, Light Screen, Trick Room

Musharna is a potential Psychic Terrain setter, which is definitely interesting, but its stats are mediocre at best. The best thing it could do is probably set up Trick Room, but I'm pretty sure you'd want one of your sweepers to do that. Magic Coat is a gimmick at best, so ignore it. I think. It also learns Wish, and its HP stat is pretty good!

Notable moves: Taunt, Feather Dance (?), Tailwind, Taunt, Defog

Don't use Unfezant. There are better mons out there.

Notable moves: Stealth Rock

Yeah.

Notable moves: Thunder Wave, Light Screen, Reflect, Calm Mind, Charm (?), Speed Swap (???)

Don't use Swoobat... if you want to be a gimmick lord then sure, go for the Speed Swap. You'll lose all your points but hey, it might work someday!

Notable moves: Hone Claws, Swords Dance, Stealth Rock

Weather abilities being discarded hurts Excadrill a bit, but +2 Atk is worth it, probably. Slap a Scarf on it and you're pretty much good to go.

Notable moves: Bulk Up, Taunt, Defog

Conkeldurr could be an interesting Defogger, and, well, it's Conkeldurr. You know what to do. Punch them. Punch them in the dick.

Notable moves: Aqua Ring (?), Stealth Rock

Seismitoad is a pretty interesting mon that has gained a lot of viability in SwSh, and Aqua Ring is basically Leftovers 2. The worst thing about Aqua Ring was that, well, you had to waste a moveslot to use it. Well, that problem's gone now! Hah!

Notable moves: Bulk Up, Taunt

Yeah, they're both bad. There isn't anything notable that one has and the other doesn't, aside from, well...

Doubles moves. So yeah, they're bad.

Notable moves: Tailwind, Leech Seed, Light Screen, Grassy Terrain, Misty Terrain, Taunt

Whimsicott can set up two different terrains, and its other options are not bad at all! Definitely a mon I'll try to fit in every team. It has pretty good competition, but everyone does!

Notable moves: Taunt

Don't even think about using Basculin, or I'll break into your house and steal your butter and cheese. If you're lactose intolerant I'll steal your bread.

Notable moves: Leech Seed, Spikes

Maractus is... bad. Since you can't have a move as your Ability and in your movepool, you'll have to bring it in three times in order to get the three layers of Spikes. And honestly? That sucks. So don't use it!!!

Notable moves: Stealth Rock, Rock Polish, Shell Smash, Spikes, Swords Dance

Shell Smash!!! Shell Smash!!! Shell Smash!!! Pray for a team without Haze and sweep. Or just kill the Hazer, I guess that works as well.

Notable moves: Taunt, Bulk Up, Dragon Dance

Losing Intimidate and Moxie sucks for Scrafty, but at least you have four moveslots now! You might've lost some of your offensive/defensive presence, but you're still pretty decent.

Notable moves: Reflect, Light Screen, Cosmic Power, Thunder Wave, Speed Swap (???), Trick Room, Calm Mind

Losing Magic Guard hurts Sigilyph so much, and none of these options are really good, so you should not use it. Unless you want to suffer.

ACT LIKE THIS IS RUNERIGUS!!!

Notable moves: Haze, Disable, Crafty Shield, Toxic Spikes, Stealth Rock, Will-O-Wisp

Runerigus is a decent Hazer, and well, it's jut Runerigus, but unable to steal other abilities. I mean, most of the time you'll just be stealing trash abilities, so it's not that bad of a deal. Crafty Shield is actually a pretty interesting move since it blocks Status moves, which could definitely come in handy.

Notable moves: Toxic Spikes, Toxic, Haze, Spikes

Garbodor is another Hazer, but a bit worse and outclassed by Toxapex? Toxapex loses Regenerator, but its defensive stats are a lot better than Garbodor's. So yeah, just use Toxapex.

Notable moves: Thunder Wave, Encore, Light Screen, Encore

If you want to do any of these things, Liepard can do them as well. Losing Skill Link just hurts this mon too much.

Notable moves: Cosmic Power, Calm Mind, Thunder Wave, Light Screen, Reflect, Taunt, Nasty Plot, Trick Room

No Shadow Tag means this thing is perfectly legal, so go off I guess. It might be a little too slow for you to slap a Scarf on, so slap a Specs on it and nuke one or two mons.

Notable moves: Light Screen, Reflect, Thunder Wave, Trick Room, Psychic Terrain, Encore

Reuniclus is a pretty decent Trick Room setter, and it's also able to set up Psychic Terrain. It's probably outclassed by Hatterene, though.

Notable moves: Taunt, Autotomize

Vanilluxe sucks. Don't use it.

Notable moves: Swords Dance, Encore, Taunt

Escavalier might be a pretty decent Trick Room abuser since its Speed is so low and it has access to Gyro Ball. Swords Dance! Swords Dance.

Notable moves: Will-O-Wisp, Taunt, Strength Sap, Recover

All of Jellicent's ability choices are pretty underwhelming, and their movepool isn't that amazing either. They can learn Water Spout now though, so they're definitely a threat.

Notable moves: Sticky Web, Thunder Wave

Galvantula losing Compound Eyes Thunder is pretty sad, but automatic Sticky Web, dude. Ribombee is probably better than it, since it doesn't really lose out on much and gets access to Quiver Dance.

Notable moves: Curse, Thunder Wave, Swords Dance, Stealth Rock, Leech Seed, Toxic

Ferrothorn can run Stealth Rock as its ability without needing to sacrifice one of its moveslots, which is definitely a nice thing, and it's still Ferrothorn! It's good and tanky!

Notable moves: Shift Gear, Electric Terrain

Klinklang's movepool is horrid. There isn't a single good move there. Use literally any other Steel type.

Notable moves: Psychic Terrain, Recover, Calm Mind, Thunder Wave, Reflect, Light Screen, Cosmic Power, Disable

This is outclassed by Reuniclus. If you want to use this, don't. Use Reuniclus.

Notable moves: Will-O-Wisp, Taunt, Calm Mind, Haze

Yeah, it can do stuff like Calm Mind + Scarf, but it can also Haze things. That's big! Definitely worth trying out.

Notable moves: Taunt, Dragon Dance, Swords Dance

Haxorus. I mean, this is pretty obvious. Of course you're gonna run Taunt!!!!! [satire. use dd or sd.]

Notable moves: Swords Dance, Taunt

Losing weather abilities hurts Beartic a lot, and its bulk isn't that amazing either. Ice is a bad defensive type to have, so you're better off using some other mon.

Notable moves: Toxic, Spikes, Encore

Accelgor's abilities are pretty bad, and its movepool isn't amazing either, so maybe you should run Encore??? Actually, you shouldn't use Accelgor at all.

ACT LIKE THIS IS GALARIAN STUNFISK!!!
Notable moves: Thunder Wave, Stealth Rock, Curse

Don't use Galarian Stunfisk. Just don't.

Notable moves: Stealth Rock

Don't even waste your time with this mon.

Notable moves: Swords Dance, Thunder Wave, Stealth Rock

+2 Atk and a free moveslot. Maybe outclassed by some other random Dark-type, but still a force to be reckoned with.

Notable moves: Hone Claws, Defog, Tailwind, Agility, Bulk Up

Braviary is a really weird mon, but it can definitely do some stuff with Bulk Up and a... c h o i c e i t e m.

Notable moves: Toxic, Tailwind, Defog, Taunt, Roost

Mandibuzz is a lot tankier than Braviary, so it's a lot better as a support unit. I'd recommend some Tailwind support if you need it!

Notable moves: Hone Claws, Taunt

Heatmor is BAD. At least it has more options than Gigalith!

Notable moves: Thunder Wave, Hone Claws

Durant is a bit better than Heatmor, which doesn't mean a lot, but hey, it's better than nothing! Its movepool is actually pretty decent.

Notable moves: Nasty Plot, Thunder Wave, Reflect, Taunt

Hydreigon gets Nasty Plot. Fuck everyone else. Fuck all other mons. Hydreigon is all you need. 6 Hydreigon. Do it. Do it now. You know you want to.

I might've missed some moves and said a lot of dumb things but!!! We are all dumb!!!!! So shut up!!!!!!!!!!

bye

EDIT: i forgot weather abilities get thrown away so weathers in general arent really that good unless youre desperate for bonuses. if you are, half of those mons learn sunny day/rain dance, 1/4th of them learn sandstorm, and like 3 learn hail!

After getting stalled for 175 turns I came up with this idea. Lmk thoughts.

Dracozolt @ Choice Band
Ability: Charge
EVs: 252 Atk / 4 Def / 252 Spe
Adamant Nature
- Bolt Beak
- Earthquake
- Fire Fang
- Dragon Claw

The removal of Hustle for Charge allows this mon to never cost you another game to a missed Bolt Beak (Thank God). Charge as its ability does two things

1. Grants +1 SpDef. Its not that bulky but with the spdef boost it actually can stomach some strong attacks (Beware Nasty Plot Gengar/Hydreigon)
2. It doubles the power of Bolt Beak the next turn

That means when you click Bolt Beak and you are faster, its base Power is quadrupled (It becomes 340 base power). That means that for the next turn, you have a stab explosion (which can't miss since hustle is gone). Behold the power of the birb

252+ Atk Choice Band Dracozolt Bolt Beak (340 BP) vs. 252 HP / 24 Def Ferrothorn: 295-348 (83.8 - 98.8%) -- guaranteed 2HKO after Leftovers recovery
252+ Atk Choice Band Dracozolt Bolt Beak (340 BP) vs. 252 HP / 252+ Def Ferrothorn: 225-266 (63.9 - 75.5%) -- guaranteed 2HKO after Leftovers recovery
252+ Atk Choice Band Dracozolt Bolt Beak (340 BP) vs. +2 252 HP / 252+ Def Corviknight: 530-626 (132.5 - 156.5%) -- guaranteed OHKO
-2 252+ Atk Choice Band Dracozolt Bolt Beak (340 BP) vs. 252 HP / 252+ Def Sylveon: 357-421 (90.6 - 106.8%) -- 43.8% chance to OHKO (If charm as ability)
252+ Atk Choice Band Dracozolt Earthquake vs. 0 HP / 4 Def Excadrill: 450-530 (124.6 - 146.8%) -- guaranteed OHKO

I definitely think that Arena Trap should be banned from this tier. Not only is it BROKEN, but there’s strats that make it impossible to escape from it too, such as soak/volt switch lanturn (it’s around in the ladder, not to hard to find examples), but it also defeats the creativity of the meta. Hyper Offense can’t be a thing when not only do you have walls, which are great and fine who cares, but also if you kill one of those walls you’re presented with a free dugtrio kill, which I deem a big problem, as should many people. Switching and predicting is a crucial part of the game, but dugtrio takes that out even in a tier where the game mode is designed to be fun, strategic, and creative. Dugtrio takes all 3 of those aspects of the meta and throws them out the window.

Edit: Added in a quick replay that I found with a guy abusing Duggy

Dracozolt @ Choice Band
Ability: Charge
EVs: 252 Atk / 4 Def / 252 Spe
Adamant Nature
- Bolt Beak
- Dragon Claw
- Fire Fang
- Earthquake

Ladies and gentlemen, the absolutely dumb bullshit webs spread. Safely teleport with a Wish Xatu and heal your Dracozolt, then get a terrifying nuke. Barring quad resists and ground immunities, there are no switch-ins to this fucking monster. Alternatively, you could run Thunder Wave over Charge if you don't want to run webs, but it's still hilarious either way.

You could try to run Ring Target support with Trick as an ability if you want to be extra funny and even further neuter switch-in potential, but it might be a bit gimmicky.

EDIT: someone beat me to it, shit; thought i was clever

I'd like to say first and foremost that I'm really excited that Trademarked is back in gen 8! It is one of the rare Other Metas that feels completely different from standard mons without being broken or overly gimmicky.

Onto the main point of the post. I am disappointed that the Substitute ban has been lifted. Last time Trademarked was OMotM, Substitute was a problematic and centralizing move. It was put to a suspect test and banned with an 80% majority. The suspect test was lengthy and inconvenient (and lasted until the 31st day of the month), but I thought that we had moved past Substitute for gen 8.

I think the justification for unbanning Substitute, which is that Wish Chansey is gone, is weak and misses the point of why Substitute is broken. I am not going to rehash the arguments for why Sub is broken even without Wish (you can read the gen 7 thread to see what people have said about that), but I'd also like to point out that we have viable Wish users in Vaporeon, Sylveon, Umbreon, and others.

Let's not repeat history. Whitephoenixace, please respect the work I and other Trademarked fans put in on your suspect ladder back in May and ban Substitute.

Alright so we’re banning teleport but not Sub, wish, or ArenaTrap/Dugtrio. Great.
teleport was banned for causing an uncompetetive effect and stalling so was more necessary for a quickban, to which I didnt speak on as I was busy in the afternoon yesterday (and will also be busy this afternoon).

on the note of dugtrio I am honestly gonna have to see more proof, I just looked at ur vid and the first ko was more smart thinking than the dugtrio itself being broken, also to note that your team had not a single ground resist or immunity. I have not had problems with dugtrio on ladder, nor have I heard anyone else complaining about dugtrio at all. If more people talk about it and have issues , I will consider it. However, until then I cannot make a motion to ban something based on the voice of solely one person.

In terms of the sub and wish, I plan to give it a week before my final thoughts on it. If push comes to shove I will reban sub. I admit so far on ladder I personalyl have not seen much abuse of it , however I also realize I only have about 17 matches at the time of this post. I also have been watching a few ladder matches and so far have not seen substitute been polarizing, though that may also be due to people preferring to run other more fun sets. Substitute also admittedly lost a few notable abusers, though conkeldurr is thriving from the few times ive seen it. I feel the addition of home may help me decide on this one as alot of the more threatening sub users get walled by corviknight or corsola or get dealt with by dragapult. I am not necessarily against rebanning it however, and would quickban after proper consideration if the time calls for it.

In terms of wish I have the same view, and personally have rarely seen wish on teams outside of stall. The local wish mons as of current cant stomache as well as chansey can though in all honesty which is one area that made chansey+wish so prevalent and made it an S tier mon. They also lack the same utility in some areas as they either lack the double healing that chansey had, the ability to just outright eat hits all day from bulk of special attackers and some mons currently dont have access to heal bell+wish like the eevees since currently no mon in swsh has heal bell (this will change once home comes out though). Wish I am kinda leaning more into the direction to ban this time around if it becomes too problematic though.
