Notice this in the D/P Elite Four?

Each member in the D/P Elite Four has at least one OU Pokémon. Aaron has Heracross, Bertha has Hippowdon, Flint has Infernape, and Lucian has Bronzong. And Cynthia.. She has Garchomp and Lucario.

DUH! Notice that their "main pokemon" are main because they are good. good=OU. The only exeption is Aaron but thats because heracross is a Jhoto pokemon.

lol

Anyone notice:
Lorelei: Slowbro
Bruno: Machamp
Agatha: Gengar
Lance: Dragonite / Gyarados
Gary: Exeggutor / Rhydon / Alakazam(!)

Nice signature.

I think this shows that Gamefreak knows how some Pokemon are better than others, they just choose not to challlenge the players as much as possible. Most of the time Elite 4/Gym Leader "main" pokemon is either OU or BL. However, if they constantly threw OU foes at the player smaller children would lose a lot and have to quit, thus hurting the market. It would be interesting for Gamefreak to create a truly challenging Pokemon game, perhaps a remake of an older version for competetive battlers.

The only way developers know how to make a game more challenging is brute force. In pokemon this basically means level abuse. Yes, Gamefreak can see that it shouldn't give -random bad poke- to the AI, but what it can't see is the complicated dynamic that arises only from leaving a game to a diverse community for many months. We decide the OUs, the BLs, and the NUs.

On topic, lol, E4 predicts and uses OUs/current tiers are based on E4s picks?

1st gen Machamp was a nice cleaner with submission and paralyse support. He was of the few physical sweepers that could kill chansey before they got thunder waved .

Koga's Forrestres used to lay down Spikes and Explode. Nowadays, it's one of the most overused physical walls. There is only one thing I hate about E4, Double Team. Always DT. Dustox, Quagsire, Ariados, Muk (minimize).

the can just make it like many other games at the beginning choose:
[]Hard
[]Normal
[]Easy

Great job adding to the discussion there, Phoenix_Wright.

could kill chansey before they got thunder waved .

No, "not even Machamp" could do that. Machamp's power isn't even that high since Submission fails at accuracy, recoil and life in general. It hurts Normals a lot when it hits, then it really hurts itself as well, but usually it just ends up doing nothing to the other half of the metagame - Alakazam, Exeggutor/Venusaur, Slowbro, Starmie.

The Elite Four get 5 Pokemon each and the Champion usually gets 6. There's bound to be an OU Pokemon in there, especially considering they always try to look good anyway.

Couldn't it be said that they each have two types

Lorelei: Water and Ice...The presence of Jynx and Slowbro mean that it is neither pure water or ice...

Bruno: Ground and Fighting... Duh!

Agatha: Ghost and Poison, but really mostly poison...Golbat and Arbok aren't ghost, but Haunter is poison...

Lance: Dragon and Flying... Aerodactyl and Gyarados are flying, but Dragonair is pure dragon, while Dragontie is both...

I think that simply goes into the category of "themed" teams rather than based on pure typings. Like Drapion is still a bug, though it's dark/poison typing. Same for Gyarados. (dragon rage, and now, dragon dance)

And as for that OU poke for every Elite Four member, I think it's simply becuase each member has ther own strongest/favorite poke, and they simply turn out to be OU, for their immediate strengths. :P

Not always. So many good Pokemon aren't used because of a certain move (SR deserves mentioning, insert long list here), movepool (Flareon does not suck, Trick Room is a godsend for it if it didn't lose so many goddamn moves) or their ability (Regigigas and Slaking). OU is OU because they work well in a variety of circumstances and are used a lot. There's a reason why BL exists for such Pokemon, and UU when they just don't work.
