Inteleon is one of the strongest and fastest special attackers in the UU tier allowing it to be extremely threatening to opposing offensive Pokemon. Inteleon’s biggest downfalls are its inability to break to the common bulky water types, lack of defensive utility and it’s shallow movepool. Hydro Pump is Inteleon’s strongest STAB which Inteleon depends on to break through a large portion of UU. This dependence is hindered by the commonality of bulky Water and Grass types such as Milotic, Vaporeon, Celebi and Venusaur, its low PP, and its ability to miss. As a more reliable STAB attack, Surf is used to help pick off weakened Pokemon. Ice beam is great coverage to help pick off opposing Grass and Dragon types that threaten Inteleon such as Celebi and Noivern. Access to U-Turn helps deter Inteleon's weakness by allowing Inteleon to switch out on its counters and bring in team mates that are able to handle them. As another option, Dark Pulse can be used over Surf for its ability to break one of Inteleon's hardest counters, Jellicent but outside of that matchup Surf is the superior option.
When building a team make sure to bring along strong wall breakers that can break through the opposing bulky Water Types and Special walls such as Umbreon with ease. Some great partners that can do this include Rotom-Mow, Machamp and Celebi as all these greatly appreciate the U-Turn support that Inteleon offers. It is also nice to support Inteleon with hazards as Inteleon has the ability to force switches. Entry hazard users such as Gigalith and Roserade make great partners to help wear down foes for Inteleon to revenge kill them or clean late game. Gigalith can also come in on Noivern a potent revenge killer to Inteleon and Roserade appreciates being brought in safely with U-turn against the bulky Water-types to break for Inteleon. Inteleon can also struggle with offensive Grass and Electric types such as opposing Celebi, Roserade, Heliolisk and Choice Scarf Rotom-Mow. To cushion this weakness teammates such as Bronzong, Escavalier, and Flygon can be useful. Inteleon also supports cleaners with its wall breaking capabilities. Pairing it with late game cleaners such as Polteageist and Flygon works well as it can get through Pokemon such as Gigalith, Rhyperior and Bronzong.
