It's really hard for me personally to know just how much this "meh to actively dislike" on Biden feeling really is on a wider scale due to the echo chamber (both here and irl) and that's a little frustrating to me personally. I just had this ad pop up on my FB feed
and hopefully the comments on it are a little telling that the majority of the feelings expressed in this thread are also held by those more at large. FB ads are also targeted and will still have an echo chamber effect, but it's at least clear that biden does not have very vocal support, which I don't think bodes well for his campaign going forward...

I mean aside from mikedawg and rl I actually don't personally know active biden supporters, does anyone else?

Anecdotally a lot of people I work with (I work at a financial firm in downtown boston, lots of upper middle class, east coast liberal types). “Bernie can’t beat the orange clown” was a surprisingly common take from some of the managers. Not saying I agree with that at all lol. Agree with bughouse that if you don’t know anyone who supports Biden you need to expand your social circles. Online support is also very deceiving, see: the entire Yang campaign.

e: also Biden isn’t a “new” name to the stage - even Bernie is new to most Americans, as was Klob, Mayor Pete, Harris, etc. Most people know what they’re getting with Biden, and Biden certainly appeals to your average left of center Democrat voter. Kind of couched in with Biden’s lack of vocal support is that despite his limited financing, ex he won Washington states primary despite Bernie massively outspending him.

Bernie endorsed Biden, which isn't really surprising since I think it was a matter of when and not a matter of if.
So uh, I guess the primary is pretty much over with Biden's largest opponent endorsing him and no other challenger + the delegates that he has amassed?

The Sanders endorsement was way stronger than I expected. The real question is will the casual Sanders supporters listen to Bernie or the disinformation spreaders masquerading as Bernie diehards.

not surprised he gave biden the softball question on a $15 minimum wage (move him on m4a!!!!!), good to see that concession being made at least (if it was a concession? i don't even know). but yeah, i doubt for a lot of people this really moves the needle; even the people who were on the bernie campaign are clearly not with biden (his press secretary for one), i don't know where you get the idea not voting for biden means you're listening to "disinformation spreaders" lol

it's the same as 2016, a vocal few will talk about not voting for Biden, but at the end of the day Sanders supporters will vote for Biden and he will still lose. If you're gonna vote for Biden at the very minimum you should be the owner of a facebook page for a socialist or lgbtq gun club while better qualified voters would be organizing mutual aid networks related to coronavirus to begin activating their neighborhoods, otherwise you have "no right to complain when your side loses".

I'm not sure why Bernie supporters still seem so convinced that Joe Biden will lose to Trump. To me, it's starting to feel like it's not based on any objective reasoning and based entirely on how Bernie Sanders' supporters feel subjectively about Joe Biden as a candidate. But as for actual signs:

  • Trump remains the most unpopular president in modern history; he had a slight uptick in approval at the beginning of March, but as usual, it's heading back down and even with his approval rating uptick, he was still either majority (outright majority, not plurality) disapproval or close to it
  • If Bernie Sanders is supposed to be better suited to win swing states in the general... Where the hell were the Bernie voters in the primaries in Arizona, Michigan, Texas, North Carolina, Florida, Wisconsin, Minnesota, and Virginia?
It doesn't really seem like there's much of an electability argument against Joe Biden when he was winning all the primaries in states that could end up deciding the 2020 election, while Bernie was winning states like California and Colorado.

Kingler12345 They announced the creation of six joint task forces with people from both campaigns, so where is this idea coming from that the Sanders campaign is not onboard? Some individual members maybe but they’re seemingly the exception here.

Only reason I think Biden has a chance against Trump (note: Biden sucks) is that my dad, a middle-aged working class Wisconsin resident who voted Trump over Clinton last election, will vote for Biden. Is it subconscious sexism? The Clinton name? Trump’s performance? Probably a combination of the three, but regardless this anecdote makes me think that Biden could potentially win some swing states Clinton lost.

Yes that’s why I said certain people, you’re right in that it’s not the majority; also the voters are separate from the campaign and a lot of activists that you’d want doing on the ground work are pretty dead set against doing anything for him (anyone get a call or make calls for Biden lol?). A good chunk of people aren’t gonna give a shit about the endorsement because it’s changed very little about the substance of Biden’s campaign

Ironically, I wouldn't be shocked to see WI voting numbers up for a primary during the pandemic. While it certainly depresses turnout in the sense of scaring people away or due to polling places being closed, I could also see voting be up for others because they have nothing else to do. Many people whose jobs would not ordinarily make voting easy now are not working. Also, despite this recent court drama, absentee voting, generally speaking, should be way up from past primaries. The salience of the court's action itself could also increase turnout today, since a court seat is on the ballot. I'm not sure which if any of these factors outweighs others.

This of course isn't to say anything about the court order. The ~10k people who didn't receive their requested absentee ballot should not be required to vote in person, whether or not there is a pandemic.
Oh look what happened to said conservative judge:

Trump is royally fucked if this judge losing in WI by ~7 points is any sign

the bernie supporters in this thread may do well to check out this video (and its second part), it's a solid analysis of the failures of the sanders campaign and the US left at large. now that his campaign is over and he endorsed biden (disappointing but not surprising) it should be worthwhile to think and talk honestly about where things went wrong & learn your lessons for the future ;3

I actually dont get why people are saying they wont vote because they dont like biden, at least vote for howie hawkins and show that you aren't ok with voting for rapists
there are very few people not voting for Biden because they don't like him. please do not conflate criticism of a candidate to mean not voting for them. there are, however, people who will not vote for him because of his sexual assault allegations as you inferred. that said, tell me why my vote should go to a green party candidate instead of not voting at all. what's the benefit? what does voting for a candidate with no chance of winning do? the DNC learns the hard way either way.
