Hey everyone! This is my first post on this forum as I think I need some help. I'm a relatively novice-ish player so this is my first time trying to seriously ladder somewhat.
The team:
Thundurus-Therian (M) @ Heavy-Duty Boots
Ability: Volt Absorb
EVs: 252 SpA / 4 SpD / 252 Spe
Timid Nature
IVs: 0 Atk
- Nasty Plot
- Thunder
- Psychic
- Weather Ball
This is what I want the star of the team to be as I mostly built it around being able to use Thundurus-T. Offensive it breaks a ton of pokes and chunks stuff, and can also setup on walls using Nasty Plot while being able to pivot around without much fear thanks to HBD. Defensively it negates electric types and most importantly Regieleki entirely but not much else.
Pelipper @ Heavy-Duty Boots
Ability: Drizzle
EVs: 248 HP / 252 Def / 8 SpA
Bold Nature
IVs: 0 Atk
- Hurricane
- Roost
- Scald
- Defog
The weather setter and hazard control. Considering how many pokemon have HBD on my team I've considered switching defog over U-Turn but basically it does everything you expect a Pelipper to. Sets weather, can deal some nice damage with Hurricane and burns stuff with Scald. Defensively invested to help deal with Blaziken and Cinderace in case I run into them.
Barraskewda @ Life Orb
Ability: Swift Swim
EVs: 252 Atk / 4 SpD / 252 Spe
Adamant Nature
- Liquidation
- Close Combat
- Flip Turn
- Drill Run
One of my weather abusers, eviscerates almost anything with life orb boosted liquidations under rain and has close combat to deal with stuff like Chansey, Ferro, and Drill Run for Pex. Haven't run into too many Pex on the low ladder so I'm thinking of giving it Crunch to help with regenerator Slowbro which has given me quite a bit of trouble.
Ferrothorn @ Leftovers
Ability: Iron Barbs
EVs: 252 HP / 152 Def / 104 SpD
Careful Nature
- Leech Seed
- Knock Off
- Stealth Rock
- Protect
Ferrothorn serves as a wall to electric and grasses who would otherwise threaten the team and helps chip physical attackers that try to u-turn on it. Leech seed so it can win the stall 1v1 vs Pex and Knock Off to cripple switches by taking away their item.
Magearna-Original @ Leftovers
Ability: Soul-Heart
EVs: 252 HP / 252 SpA / 4 SpD
Modest Nature
IVs: 30 Atk
- Dazzling Gleam
- Calm Mind
- Stored Power
- Iron Defense
This thing is ridiculous and rain helps neuter one of the weakness it has. I built her to give me basically another wincon but I know this mon is so versatile there might be other sets that would do better than it. It also helps check Pheromosa defensively.
Pheromosa @ Heavy-Duty Boots
Ability: Beast Boost
EVs: 252 Atk / 4 SpD / 252 Spe
Jolly Nature
- U-turn
- Close Combat
- Triple Axel
- Lunge
A fast pivot that can also outspeed and revenge kill a lot of things while also being partially immune to being revenge killed by the likes of Garchomp. Triple axel to help deal with Tornadus-T, Zapdos, and Tangrowth. Maybe protective pads would be better to evade rocky helmet/static but not sure yet.
