Resource Simple Questions, Simple Answers Thread

another set that works great as a surprise IMO is banded azumarill, as people expect to have a turn free to switch in their answer while you belly drum, and then you smash their switch in with a banded huge power move. while it is a bit prediction reliant and requires you position azu to force switches, it can absolutely truck usual answers to azu.

the EVs can be in HP or speed, I slightly prefer HP personally, since it allows it to trade blows with a lot of things quite effectively,and it's still slow.

the moves are aqua jet, liquidation, play rough, and either ice punch,knock off or superpower depending on team needs.

Earthquake is good for Tapu Koko and the OHKO on Heatran

136 SAtk helps bolster damage output on Ground type and Grass type Targets with Draco Meteor and Fire Blast. Draco assures an OHKO on most SubRoost Kyurem with this spread, but you also can go down to 184 speed EVs to get ScarfLandoT in Sand still!

For the upcoming Dracozolt analysis, we've decided to use a different spread of 148 Atk / 176 SpA / 184 Spe. This guarantees outspeeding Choice Scarf Landorus-T in sand and OHKOing SubRoost Kyurem with Draco Meteor. (136 is for Choice Specs Kyurem) The remaining EVs are placed into Attack to increase the Bolt Beak's damage. We also think a Naughty nature is better than Lonely at the moment to take priority moves slightly better.
 
I was wondering whether it was a mistake that Bisharp did not rise in the VR update, as currently in analyses we are working on the B+ tier, which was released this week, but Bisharp was included.

Hello, I am incredibly new to smogon and my friend told me to ask questions here, so here it goes.
What are some good partners for melmetal and what kind of team does it want to be in?
I really like it and I would like to use it (also general tips when using it would be nice)

spdef scizor is a fantastic answer for all 3 kyurem sets (scarf, subroost, specs), as you take 20% or below, and taunt + toxic heatran is a great answer to volc. 3 atks tran with edge enables it to deal with safeguard roost qd flamethrower versions and such

Heatran (TBH, almost any set, lol) is a good way to beat volcarona- note however that if Heatran is heavily damaged, Volcarona may be able to break through. Scizor is a very good way to beat Kyurem, as it can easily take any hit.

Blissey is also another one that counters Volcarona. Volc just cannot break thru a healthy Blissey and just dies to toxic damage. If you cannot fit Blissey, Tyranitar or Heatran on your team, there are lots of checks to it such as aqua jet users like Crawdaunt. Urshifu is probably the best for this slot because it has a switch move and can serve as a wall breaker. Garchomp also does fairly well provided its healthy, switching in on a qd before going for the kill with eq or using it as a chance to boost its own speed with scale shot

Being unable to touch Heatran and Tyranitar is a hard sell, but it’s largely team dependent. Whirlpool is not as effective now with Teleport Slowking being spammed anyway
 
also, AV melmetal can check any variant of kyurem, and counter most of the sub ones. the only things it can't easily stomach is earth power(which is about a 50-50 to 2HKO from specs set) and focus blast(which does 2HKO, but just hitting 2 focus blasts is a 50-50 in itelf)

I brought it up with tiering admins and they deemed this applicable to the test despite slightly different circumstances. However, this is not set-in-stone precedent in the future and we will entertain more discussion if/when another similar situation pops up.
