NU Swiss Tournament​
Rules:
  • Standard SS NU
  • Single Elimination
  • All rounds will be best of three, you may switch teams in between games
  • Any changes to the tier that occur in the middle of a round will not apply until the next round
  • You are expected to know and follow all general tournament rules
  • VMs are only thing that matters for activity. Use this guide to ensure you don't lose via activity or coinflip.

This is a Type A tournament for the official NU circuit.

This will be a Swiss format tournament in the standard Sword and Shield NU metagame. A Swiss tournament is a two-part tournament where everyone starts in a sort of round-robin. After Round 1, instead of being eliminated or advancing to a higher part of a bracket, you are paired with someone that has the same record as you. After a few rounds (depending on number of signups) the players with the best records will advance to a playoff bracket. Therefore, you will play every week until playoffs are established.

All matchups are best of 3.​

Seeding was determined by each players strength of schedule. For example, Turtledoggos opponents combined went 26-10 this tournament, whereas EviGaros opponents went a total of 24-12. This means that even though both players had the same record, TurtleDoggo is a seed higher than EviGaro. This was then applied to every player to assign seedings. You can also see that there were a total of 33 players in there, as there were 24 players who ended with a 4-2 record. Instead of just kicking out the person with the worst SoS, we decided to have the two players with the worst SoS face off for the 32nd seed. This is because due to the high amount of activity / flips it was not really fair to just eliminate someone based on SoS, which works much better as a seeding system.

QUICK NOTE

These playoffs are always Single Elimination! For some reason, when the original OP was made, Double Elim was a mistake. These matchups are all Bo3 but Single Elimination! And don't forget:

Predictions:
Turt vs Either of them
EviGaro vs Togkey (some might see this as an upset but I believe in tog, that and evi might be more focused on scl)
Drud vs Slice (slice helped me get my sample approved, gotta back him. that being said, this is also a very good matchup and drud is no pushover)
ESM vs Surfy (both very good players but I’ll edge esm as I think he has more experience with the tier, and bcz his streams are goated)
Xiri vs Finch (gratz to both on scl, I do think xiri is the better NU player, but I am edging finch for the upset - and i hope it becomes a vid)
ElPSY vs Hax
OnArceus vs GW (again, gratz on scl. GW is a very solid player and will definitely be a challenge, but I think OnArceus is the best NU player rn and with solid prep should be able to pull through)
Sensei vs Dani (HL, either could take it really, ill edge sensei tho)
Cam vs 4ngel
Rodri vs kythr (gz on scl, kythr is no pushover but this isn’t LC, will be interesting to watch tho)
