Galarian Articuno

Articuno-Galar @ Choice Specs
Ability: Competitive
EVs: 252 SpA / 4 SpD / 252 Spe
Timid Nature
IVs: 0 Atk
- Future Sight
- Freezing Glare
- Hurricane
- Shadow Ball
- Articuno can live 1 Shadow Ball from a non-specs Dragapult and OHKO it with Shadow Ball or Hurricane.
- Articuno will OHKO max. spdef Lando-T with Freezing Glare or Hurricane if boosted by Competitive. (2HKO if not.)
- Articuno can live 1 Ice Shard from Adamant Choice Band Weavile and OHKO it with Hurricane.
- Articuno has a 31.2% chance to live 1 Thunderbolt from max spatk, Timid Tapu Koko and 75% chance to OHKO it with Freezing Glare.
- Articuno will OHKO non-spdef Toxapex with Freezing Glare.
This is who the team is based around, Specs Galarian Articuno. As the strongest offensive pokemon on my team, its job is to find an opportunity to switch-in and nuke something. Future Sight also pairs really well with Melmetal and can destroy common annoyances like Toxapex and Urshifu. I perfer Freezing Glare over Psyshock, as I feel Blissey isn't too much of a nuisance for me, especially with Melmetal. Hurricane is great STAB, and Shadow can be used if I'm predicting a Dragapult or Tapu Lele. (Shadow Ball is a little irrelevant, as Hurricane often does more damage, more so used for a safe 100% accuracy move.)
1632738715998.png
Melmetal

Melmetal @ Protective Pads
Ability: Iron Fist
EVs: 188 HP / 252 Atk / 68 SpD
Adamant Nature
- Double Iron Bash
- Superpower
- Thunder Punch
- Rock Slide
- Melmetal can live a Fiery Dance from an unboosted Volcarona and OHKO it with Rock Slide.
- Melmetal has a 46.9 chance to live 2 Shadow Balls from a Specs Dragapult and OHKO with Double Iron Bash.
- Be cautious of Weavile with Low Kick, as that will do 60 - 70% damage.
- Melmetal will 3HKO max def Corviknight with Thunder Punch.
This pokemon is used to back up Articuno in almost every way. Not only does it work great with Future Sight, but it completely walls Weavile, one of Articuno's main threats. Double Iron Bash is used because it's Double Iron Bash. Superpower for Ferrothorn, Magnezone, Kyurem etc. Thunder Punch for Corviknight and Tapu Fini. Rock Slide for Volcarona.
1632738735044.png
Magnezone

Magnezone @ Expert Belt
Ability: Magnet Pull
EVs: 196 HP / 252 SpA / 60 Spe
Modest Nature
IVs: 0 Atk
- Thunderbolt
- Body Press
- Iron Defense
- Flash Cannon
- Magnezone will OHKO Corviknight with Thunderbolt. (Assuming they are 92 spdef EV's or less.)
- Magnezone will OHKO Ferrothorn with Body Press after 2 Iron Defenses. (Assuming they are 60 def EV's or less.)
- Magnezone has a 31.2% chance to live 1 Focus Blast from a Scarf Modest Tapu Lele and OHKO it with Flash Cannon.
This pokemon is used to eliminate Corviknight and Ferrothorn, which both previous members appreciate. Body Press on either pokemon however, can be a quite a nuisance. Thunderbolt is to deal with Corviknight, Body Press and Iron Defense are to deal with Ferrothorn, and Flash Cannon is great STAB damage and can be used to take out Tapu Lele and Clefable. 60 speed EV's are used to outspeed base-speed Corviknight.

1632738753552.png
Tapu Fini

Tapu Fini @ Leftovers
Ability: Misty Surge
EVs: 252 HP / 36 Def / 76 SpA / 144 Spe
Bold Nature
IVs: 0 Atk
- Defog
- Scald
- Dazzling Gleam
- Taunt
- Tapu Fini will 2HKO non-spdef Lando-Ts with Scald.
- Tapu Fini has a 91.8% chance to 3HKO Calm 136 spdef EV Heatran with Scald.
- Tapu Fini can live 2 Shadow Balls from a Specs Dragapult and 2HKO with Dazzling Gleam.
- Tapu Fini can live 2 Earthquakes form a non-band Garchomp and 2HKO with Dazzling Gleam. (Can only live 1 Earthquake if Garchomp has Swords Danced.)
Tapu Fini is my defogger of the team, as Articuno really appreciates having no rocks up. It is also my Lando-T and Heatran counter, as I am very weak to them at this point. Defog is for well, Defogging. Scald is good STAB and a chance to burn. Dazzling Gleam is for more coverage and STAB, and Taunt is for pokemon like Toxapex and Blissey. 144 speed EV's outspeed most defensive Lando-Ts and Heatrans.

1632738777020.png
Garchomp

Garchomp @ Rocky Helmet
Ability: Rough Skin
EVs: 252 HP / 136 Def / 120 Spe
Jolly Nature
- Stealth Rock
- Earthquake
- Toxic
- Fire Fang
- Garchomp can live up to 4 Magma Storm from 0 spatk EV Heatran and OHKO it with Earthquake.
- Garchomp has a 37.5% cahnce to live 1 Moonblast from a Scarf Modest Tapu Lele and do 60 - 70% with Earthquake.
- Garchomp will 2HKO Ferrothorn with Fire Fang. (Assuming they are 4 def EV's or less.)
Garchomp is my rock-setter for the team. It is also an effective Heatran counter, and can Toxic some annoying pokemon like Mandibuzz and Lando-T. Stealth Rock for rocks. Earthquake for good STAB damage and Heatran. Toxic to wear down annoying pokemon, and Fire Fang for extra coverage and Ferrothorn. I perfer Rocky Helmet over Leftovers as it does great chip vs. physical attackers, and can almost OHKO an Urshifu using Surging Strikes.
1632738802229.png
Zeraora

Zeraora @ Heavy-Duty Boots
Ability: Volt Absorb
EVs: 252 Atk / 4 SpD / 252 Spe
Jolly Nature
- Knock Off
- Plasma Fists
- Volt Switch
- Close Combat
- Zeraora can live 1 Shadow Ball from a Specs Dragapult and 2HKO it with Knock Off.
- Weavile might as well not exist if you use Close Combat.
- Zeraora will 2HKO Tapu Fini with Plasma Fists.
- Zeraora has a 93.7 chance to 2HKO Galarian Slowking with Knock Off.
Last, but certainly not least, is Zeraora. This is a counter for Dragapult, Weavile, Galarian Slowking, and Tapu Fini. Also can switch into opposing Electric types threatening Tapu Fini. Knock Off is for Dragapult and Galarian Slowking. Plasma Fists is great STAB and for Tapu Fini. Volt Switch for pivoting and keeping offensive momentum, and Close Combat for Weavile, and other pokemon like Melmetal, Heatran, Kartana, and Kyurem.

I love the attempt made here! Something I love about this team is the amount of Landorus-Therian lures it has. Galarian Articuno is unfortunately horrible defensively, has a mediocre Speed tier, and in many cases isn't even very proficient when it comes to breaking. However, if you double into Galarian Articuno as your opponent switches into Landorus-Therian, you get +2 and you're ready to get a free kill. Zeraora + Galarian Articuno would be a great core to build around if you decided to rework this team! Keep up the creativity! :D

The worst part for me is that it has even worse coverage than the original articuno, who has a psychic move as well as the flying/ice, but galar lost all the ice moves. Obviously not saying it's worse, but disappointing that it couldn't keep one ice-type move or gain heat wave or something

Why dazz gleam on Fini over moonblast?

That was very disappointing when I had seen Articuno-Galar, I thought it had so much potential initially though. Something like Freezing Glare which could be the equivalent of Flying Press, but better, combining Psychic and Ice effectiveness into the move, making it a 2 in one slot that can give Articuno-Galar the ability to at least hit grounds (which isn't practical as it couldn't touch dark types with secondary typing, but it would have been cool). Alas, so much potential fleetingly wasted for no reason that made Articuno bad.

Also, I feel like if you were to using Articuno-G effectively, you could use use U-Turn. If you don't have Psyshock and you want to get out on Blissey turns, U-Turn is a perfect option especially with it also having a slower fast speed tier.

Hello OriDotExe,

I am here to help you out with your team and rate it, and I think this version is already pretty good, however I did some minor changes and clarify why I did these changes and what they do for the rest of your team:

To kick it off with the minor changes:

Since you lack necessary speed control as only Zeraora offers it to you, the best way here I've found was making Tapu Fini Choice Scarf with Defog so it can handle and revengekill Pokemon like Garchomp, Weavile, Urshifu-R, and Dragapult. It can also disrupt incomming checks such as Ferrothorn, Blissey, Galarian Slowking and regular Slowking with Tricking the Choice Scarf onto them, which gives you an advantage with Galarian Articuno in hindsight. Disrupting them means, Galarian Articuno has a better standing ground against them, as they cannot make use of their recovery options in the case of Blissey especially it forces great progress with Futur Sight and Zeraoras Knock Off in combination with Close Combat or just Body Press / Double Iron Bash by Magnezone and Melmetal respectively.

New Set:
Tapu Fini @ Choice Scarf
Ability: Misty Surge
EVs: 248 HP / 44 SpD / 216 Spe
Timid Nature
IVs: 0 Atk
- Scald
- Moonblast
- Trick
- Defog

The other minor changes I have done is changing Melmetal from Protective Pads to Assault Vest to give you an emergency check to Dragapult, Tapu Lele, Tapu Koko, and Kyurem as otherwise these Pokemon, especially Dragapult, can overwhelm that team quickly, as Tapu Fini and Zeraora are faster but have trouble coming into Dragapult reliably over the course of the game.

New Set:
Melmetal @ Assault Vest
Ability: Iron Fist
EVs: 128 HP / 116 Atk / 252 SpD / 12 Spe
Careful Nature
- Double Iron Bash
- Earthquake
- Ice Punch
- Thunder Punch

Another change I've did was changing Garchomps set to Toxic + Fire Blast, as it can trouble Heatran + Ferrothorn pretty well with this set, moreover I gave it Leftovers over Rocky Helmet, as with Tapu Fini as an Urshifu-R check and a faster Pokemon in Zeraora, Urshifu-R has trouble enough, and you still have Galarian Articuno to be able to switch into a predicted Close Combat. Toxic can also hit Pokemon like Landorus-T, Dragonite, and opposing Garchomp to force progress, especially in the case of Dragonite a Toxic will put especially offensive Heal Bell-less versions on a timer which is greatly appreciated. Furthermore, Toxic allo Zeraora to get progress going against Ground-types such as Landorus-T, Garchomp, and Hippowdon, as with Future Sight + Knock Off + Toxic its easily progress you forced for yourself.

New Set:
Garchomp @ Leftovers
Ability: Rough Skin
EVs: 252 HP / 136 Def / 120 Spe
Jolly Nature
- Stealth Rock
- Earthquake
- Fire Blast
- Toxic

Magnezone I have also changed slightly to Leftovers with Teleport because a VoltTurn-Core enables this team to have better Midground Plays against Tapu Lele, Dragapult, Tapu Koko, and incoming Ground-types like Garchomp, Landorus-T, and Hippowdon. You can easily switch into Tapu Fini or Melmetal to pressure them with more ease.

New Set:
Magnezone @ Leftovers
Ability: Magnet Pull
EVs: 196 HP / 252 SpA / 60 Spe
Modest Nature
IVs: 0 Atk
- Thunderbolt
- Body Press
- Iron Defense
- Teleport

I have decided to let Zeraora + Galarian Articuno as they are because they can easily easily force progress for each other and are able to handle a vast majority of teams with their great STABs and coverage options. Knock Off + Future Sight is a great blessing for this team and is a great and appreciated way to give it more breaking power.

This comes very similar to a redo of the team I tried to make not all that long ago to try and improve, I didn't get very far so I initially dropped it. Looks good, hopefully OP has fun and thanks for the effort into making it :)
