Little things you like about Pokémon

Slight overreaction.
The story of Lugia's creation/creator is wild. Shudo did a shitload of tranquilizers and alcohol while he worked on Lugia/the movie, and it led to a rapid decline in his health.

Yeah, it's a wild story though also a sad one. He obviously had a substance abuse problem (and likely a few psychological ones) but, since he made money and worked best when heavily drugged & intoxicated, pretty much no one helped him. And when his wild ideas were rejected/changed his response was equally as negatively destructive. In 2010 he's found dead at a train station smoking room from subarachnoid hemorrhage, something which was likely brought on from his drug abuse.

Before anyone takes this the wrong way, I respect Shudo's work on the franchise, even if I didn't quite agree with all his decisions (especially the extreme ones); his ideas for the anime made Pokemon made it special & I would put Lugia up there as one of my favorite Legendaries and was the reason I chose Silver over Gold. However, his story I don't like being used as just a bizarre read or something that should be taken lightly. It should be used as more of a cautionary story and for substance abuse awareness; how great minds who may have a substance abuse problem are left untreated cause "they do their best work" under the influence and for many it ends with them severely injured or dead. I would even say this leaves a dark spot in Pokemon's history.

EDIT: Fixed.

If I remember the story correctly he was found dead at a bus/train station having ODed shortly after the 2nd movie was released.
"On October 28, 2010, he collapsed after suffering a subarachnoid hemorrhage in a smoking room at JR-West Nara Station in Nara, Nara Prefecture, where he was visiting, and was rushed to the hospital. However, he died on the next day at the age of 61. In 2011, a memorial exhibition titled "In Memoriam of the Screenwriter Takeshi Shudo" was held at the Suginami Animation Museum in Suginami, Tokyo."

This isn't sourced in the article, but I can't imagine it's that hard to verify.

I was just making a quick post to make a point about how this is a sad story, though my timeframe was way off so I'll go fix it.

Yeah, I'm not trying to be a pedant, I just figure the circumstances of his death are worth posting as long as we're talking about him. Sorry if I came off that way.

Nah, it's alright, as I said my main concern is that it should be more of the substance abuse awareness. If he got help (both with stopping the drug abuse and seeing a psychiatrist) he could have still been alive today.

And fact checking is important.

Shudo is why the Pokemon movies were so great. Some of the criticism he gave to the staff is very understandable and shows that he knows what makes a movie tick. Like the ending of Movie 3 was one of the things he didn't want to happen with Molly getting to meet her mom which defeats the entire purpose of her kidnapping Ash's mom.

I feel all the other Pokemon movies aside from the Shudo Trilogy are mediocer at best. The Darkrai movie is likely the most watchable. Power of Us looks beautiful but full of Melodrama which makes it hard for me to watch it in one sitting. Not to mention, Zeraora and Lugia being a waste of time in the movie and didn't really need to be.
I tried watching the Zarude movie too... dropped it after Choco or Coco found out he is human.

I think there is more to it than me just being NoStaLgiC. On Lavacutcontent.com there are more blogs of him translated which are a good read.

The fact Lucario's Ultra Moon dex entry more or less calls out furries:

(if you're a furry reading this, you do you, nothing inherently wrong with being a fan of something).

Can anyone find Korrina in Masters saying "her Lucario knows what you did?" for me since I can't find it? Either way, the higher ups definitely know what the fanbase wants.

Just saying.

I mean, have you seen the shit people say about Vaporeon?
I mean maybe, but I'm still a relatively new fan so I've only known the "I wanna fuck Vaporeon" era
Before the aforementioned copypasta, there was smug Sylveon (NSFW language) making people feel things, and before them was Glaceon having stylish "hair bangs" that humanized it enough for it to turn into furry bait. Besides, we all know the real Pokemon sex icon.

Let's not forgot in the anime what happens when a Pokemon uses Bulk Up, which I think was only done for a joke concerning Bianca having a "thing" for Pokemon with big muscles she liked to touch.

Incineroar keeps it going:
Also let's not forget about the Machamp touring service:

... Even if the girls think is is:

If you want to know what's exactly going on here you can read my post about it here. This link is specifically about the "Superpower Woman", what the female fans of the Machop family call themselves. Though for fun here's a few more pictures of girls fawning over the Machop family:

Another reason why I despise the Machamp line and Sawk/Throh. They're literally just people, especially the latter two

Conkeldurr and Incineroar are too goofy to be humanoid for me, which is why I like them

Shudo won in the end anyway in the main anime with Silver and his mother.

I, guess? Sure, we had a female Lugia in the main anime but the Lugia in the movie still had a male voice. Plus Lugia was also added into the games which he wasn't aware of and disappointed at as he wanted it to be an anime, if not movie, exclusive. Obviously I can't speak for the guy, but I have a feeling he saw Lugia as a sort of nature spirit if not deity, like the Pokemon version of the Mother Earth being. So with that said, sure, we got a female Lugia but probably not in the way Shudo envisioned it (wouldn't surprise me if he didn't like it because they made it more like a mortal creature; like they only made it female because it was a mother to a baby Lugia which got more screentime).
