Pokemon Scarlet & Violet - 18th Nov 2022! **OFFICIAL INFO ONLY**

Of course they lock the thread the SAME DAY I finish catching up on the messages...

I don't think we're ready for Tera-Normal Toxtricity's Boomburst.

Toxtricity-Normal @ Choice Specs
Ability: Punk Rock
EVs: 252 SpA / 4 SpD / 252 Spe
Modest Nature
IVs: 0 Atk
- Boomburst
- Snarl / Sludge Wave
- Overdrive / Sludge Wave
- Volt Switch

I actually won a giveaway on Showdown for a Square Shiny Toxtricity so I am definitely going to try this.

The most critical piece of news about this game just dropped

Florges is kind of an underrated design in my opinion so I would really love to get this... were I in Japan. :changry:

This was hot garbage.

They didn't even have the decency of revealing the mon in the end.

I'm going out of my way to bring a Garchomp to her. :psyangry:

Numel got revealed for the regional dex, so I'm hoping it will be catchable before Iono's gym to demolish the inevitable Electric/Steel type(s).

Also Iono's reveal has me even more convinced that this spoiler season is a collective fever dream. (At least, that's what it feels like...)

I liked this trailer. Granted, I wasn't expecting much, so "we'll drop the new mon later this week" doesn't bug me. And IDK, I'm not a Vtuber fan, but they can be fun, and her voice wasn't grating the way some are for me. The design is basically pure GwarGura, to the point where I half-expect her to have a Sharpedo, but since that's a very successful design, it makes sense.

Also, GF? VOICE ACTING. Games can have it. If you don't WANT your games to have it, that's fine, stop making games where voice acting is the obvious choice.

On the topic of Gym Leader Teras, I think she won't be one who uses a non-electric to get Electric STAB. Electric gym's weakeness has long been any given ground-type can sweep them, stacking the weakness further doesn't help. And having super-STAB is similarly useless. I'm expecting her to be one of the ones who turns her Electric Ace into a Flying type to handle your Diglett.

I said that Numel would massacre Electric/Steels, but perhaps I have been mistaken and Unovan Stunfisk is the real solution...

I mean, the game is open world. There is no "catchable before/after the gym" because you can go anywhere at any time. If you want a Numel, you can just go to the part of the map that its located in right away and then do the gym cause there's nothing stopping you from doing that.

well, unless the level cap thing from the gen 8 games is back and they aren't available at your level

Anyone remember when previous starters had their mid and last stages revealed?
SV is coming out in little over a month and nothing.

Just skimming through the official YT channel real quick:

Gen 6:

X and Y themselves were announced in January 8th, 2013, the middle-stage evolutions were revealed on September 13th, and the game itself was released on October 12th. The only reason we found out about the starter's final evolutions before the game came out was because the game broke street release date. Keep in mind, however, that X and Y was kinda at the tailend of the series' reliance on Coro-Coro for distributing information.

Gen 7:

I believe Sun and Moon are the only games where the starters were not announced concurrently with the game itself - the game was announced on February 26th, 2016, while the starters were announced on May 10th. The middle stage evolutions were revealed on October 4th, the final stages were revealed very shortly after on October 27th (though this may have been in response to them being fully leaked a few weeks earlier), and the game itself was released on November 18th.

Gen 8:

Sword and Shield were announced concurrently with the starters on February 27th, 2019. The starter evolutions, both middle-stage and final-stage, were not acknowledged until November 27th - 12 days after the release of the game itself on November 15th.

Really, it's hard to say the approach they'll take this gen. Frankly I think the loooooong wait for the starters only contributed to how heavy the backlash was against them in Gen 8, and we're now at the point where the evolutions started to be revealed in Gens 6 and 7. But there's no way to predict what course they'll take, so...

Small correction here, but the starter final evolutions had been leaked months prior. In JUNE. early June.

Honestly I understand why they'd want them to be kept hidden, so it something to discover yourself, but starters are as much defined by their end point as their starting point that tbh they should at least tease them so you know what you're actually getting out of this.

This.

You should AT LEAST know what that middle evo looks like.

well, unless the level cap thing from the gen 8 games is back and they aren't available at your level

Considering how much the marketing around the game has been focused around going anywhere and doing things in your own order, as well as the fact PLA had no level restrictions, I really doubt they'd do this

I feel like the swsh and legebds aproach of revealing them shortly after the games come out is pretty fine. Gives a few days for people who want to go in blind but also reveals them relatively soon compared to game launch. Only really an issue for if you want to play the game at launch, but even then idt its unreasonable to ask other people who have played to show you what they look like

Had a chance to watch Iono’s trailer, and… uh… it was interesting. That’s the most I can say about this. I’m all for characters in Pokémon helping people feel represented. Something about this doesn’t feel right, though. Maybe it’s my personal biases speaking, but it’s almost like the inclusion of characters as little more than social media icons just feels… it doesn’t feel like Pokémon, if that makes sense.
Raihan and Elesa kinda paved the way for this style of character. Diantha too

Random thing: someone pointed this color similarity

I wonder, what if the ace is actually electric/fairy?
