SPOILERS! Scarlet & Violet Leaks Thread - Data/Mechanics

Okay so the options are:
- Monster Dog
- Coin
- Tumbleweed
- Primeape Evolution
- Paradox Misdreavus
- Paradox Amoonguss looks kinda like a Ghost type but that's not confirmed

Think it's safe to assume the last two aren't happening. Monster Dog I don't think is happening because I think it's entirely possible the Ghost and Dark dogs will be version exclusives, and I don't see them revealing multiple Pokemon. It's gonna be either the Coin or Primeape's evolution, and I'm betting on it being the Coin.

On a different note, what moves do people hope return/don't return? After Legends Arceus it's entirely possible we'll have a really small pool of moves again. Personally hoping for Boomburst to come back because Tera Normal Noivern sounds amazing, and I hope Belly Drum doesn't come back because fuck Cawmodore.

EDIT: R_N is right mb

EDIT 2: There is official footage of Azumarill using Belly Drum, looks like another generation of Caw terror

Looking at LA for that isn't necessarily correct, though. It changed a lot of things, and moves getting massively culled played into that. Let's Go took a similar track, though for less extreme reasons.

One thing I wonder is if they'll distribute some of the Gen 8 signature moves like Overdrive or god forbid Fishous Rend/Bolt Beak to more Pokemon. Patterns in the past shown they have been more than willing to distribute former signature moves.

I imagine if they ever bring back the Galar fossil signature moves their base power will be nerfed into the ground. At least to like base 50 rather than 85, so its like an inverse of Payback.

I can see Jaw Lock, Magic Powder, and Court Change being added onto more Pokemon. Jaw Lock seems like the kind of move that any Pokemon with jaws can use, and there are so many Pokemon with strong jaws that there's an entire ability for it. We have Mawile and Krookodile in the games, it'd fit them perfectly. Magic Powder is just a Psychic Soak, and that isn't a signature move. Cinderace already has another signature move in Pyro Ball and I think Court Change would be really cool on more Pokemon. Honestly I think any Pokemon that's in Pokemon Unite could probably sensibly learn Court Change.

I hope pursuit remains Thanos-snapped so that ghosts may continue their dominance in gen 9.

On the one hand I feel like conceptually the Paradoxes may kinda fit Hallowen (Iirc they were described as somewhat of a kind of dream cryptid?)
On the other I think that, at least from what we've seen in today's video, they'll probably just reveal a regular mon, idt it'd make much sense to have the paradoxes randomly found in the wild like that and I get the feeling this is gonna be strictly a ghost-oriented reveal - whch, at least as far as I remember, there's only Misdreavus as a Ghost paradox (They wouldn't just reveal one single paradox either because they're version exclusives)

considering what we do know about paradoxes (weird imagination stuff...sensationalized dex entries...end game area....finale story-type stuff....third legendary) they definitely more akin to something that gets their own more focused reveal that teases those elements from the onset, assuming its not just a trailer reveal on par with Ultra Beasts.

I feel like from a marketing standpoint, it'd be wise to reveal the Paradoxes before release to get people discussing on the new concept and discuss whochever other mons might get Paradox counterparts, making fanart, so on. Imo it would make sense for them to be revealed soon.

Id say the same applies to Largesparce. Dunsparce is arguably the mon mpst commonly requested to get an evo - Revealing that it got one would be a massive selling point so I feel they'd want to reveal it

Considering how big and possibly spoilery the idea of Paradox pokemon is, I'd expect that if it gets revealed beforehand, it'll be basically the week before release.

My money's on either the dog or the coin being the reveal, but the dog specifically. If the dog is in a trio alongside Fidough, then it's probably a relatively early-game mon that will be marketed. The coin, meanwhile, could have been the collective sidequest mentioned by previewers that could not be elaborated upon.

I'm excited to see Paradoxes as much as the next guy, but honestly I'm glad that they've been keeping them under such tight wraps as far as marketing goes. I do think that they've been a little too tight-lipped with marketing, but I think some things ought to remain surprises... Well, for the public, that is. Not for those of us nerds who put ourselves through Khu being creepy.

I think they already kinda teased paradoxes by revealing Cyclizar, Koraidon, and Miraidon. Speaking of paradoxes, does anybody else think that the Donphans might be called Donmirai and Donkorai? They're both tire creatures that share a secondary typing... I'm beginning to think that the Donphans and Koraidon/Miraidon have a closer connection than some might expect.

or the people who know about paradoxes and cannot shut up about them in public spaces EVERY SINGLE TRAILER

i still remember the sheer number of people who thought Ceruledge & Armorouge were Paradox Gallade because people kept going "oh paradoxes for sure" and faux-leakers going "paradoxes will be revealed this time, sources say" and everyone who knew just had to politely go through tight teeth "No, those aren't them."

Something interested that fsr was only communicated on the Japanese Pokémon twitter - The researcher in the vid is specifically from Naranja Academy, meaning this mon is possibly a Scarlet exclusive

Paradox Misdreavus is back on the menu...
Unrelated, but everytime someone mentions Naranja, I think of that one ROM Hack, Pokemon Naranja. Is that just me?

Not related to the trailer, but Paradox Hydreigon seems like it will be interesting as a discount Yveltal. Its worse in every area (assuming it keeps the same statline as vanilla Hydreigon), but its got similar Special Attack and speed, and its bulk is still solid despite its significantly worse HP. Typing-wise, I don't think it will be too much better than vanilla Hydreigon, but a strong STAB Hurricane will be a nice tool as strong neutral coverage that also smacks Fairies for good damage. Losing resistances to Fire, Water, and Electric will be annoying though. Hopefully it gets a good ability in exchange for losing Levitate (I am guessing that it will get Intimidate).

Paradox Salamence is interesting as well. Initially, I thought it could outclass Hydreigon due to its better Speed tier, but really, its arguable whether that will actually be the case. In exchange for 2 points in Speed,, you lose out on bulk and SpA, which will be relevant in other matchups. I think Hydreigon will still keep its niche as a Nasty Plot user, but Mence will be the much better dragon dancer. 30 extra points in attack will make its Crunches and EQs sting a lot more right off the bat and will make it much easier for it to secure KO. For Example, Mence has a 50% chance to OHKO Tapu Koko w/ EQ, while Hydreigon needs a Life Orb to have a chance at KOing it.
