SPOILERS! Scarlet & Violet Leaks Thread - Data/Mechanics

If this is the basis for the third legendary I can't help but wonder if we'll see Fennel from Black and White appear. After all, she is a Pokemon reasearcher that studies Pokémon dreams.
There's zero known details related to it, but I wonder if characters from Sword and Shield, as well as previous mainline games, will appear in Scarlet and Violet.
Because of a lack of cameos of previously existing characters, the timeline placement of SwSh was a total mystery. It would be odd to suddenly drop any attempts to create a timeline for the major games.

If it really was just Drought/Electric Surge 2, why would it not just be Drought/Electric Surge?

The Light Trio has new versions of Cleqar Body / Multiscale / Solid Rock. I don't think its too out there to think the Raidons could either have straight up Drought/Electric Surge clones like how Gooey and Tangling Hair do the same thing, or have a slightly altered evrsion of those abilities.

Those abilities are technically stronger versions of those abilities mentioned as they ignore Mold Breaker. So these might be Drought and Electric Terrain but slightly buffed.

Agreeable, but you know that as programmer I am legally obliged to complain about it anyway :zonger:
There are far worse things left in game codes that take significantly more issues so, also as a programmer (or, program adjacent, I suppose), I know that negligible additions (especially if they're actively being used) is fine in the greater scope and that if you were made aware of every slightly updated line of code you'd go mad.

New joke about old news, but Paradox Pokemon are not the same species as the Pokemon they're based off of and there's a Paradox Amoonguss. I hate myself for making this connection, but I have to ask about how many people have made this joke about Paradox Amoonguss.

It's an Imposter Amoonguss!

(As if people weren't already spamming way too many Among Us jokes about normal Amoonguss already...)

of the "bloats" that people throw around it's by far the least annoying for a player to deal with and probably the least intensive
Did you know Pokemon Home registers Moves and Abilities of Pokemon you've had in Home? I suspect Game Freak hates absolute completionists.
Power Of Alchemy, Galvanize, Zen Mode, Mirror Armor, and Imposter are HAs exclusive to one evolution chain!

I wouldn't be surprised if Game Freak just don't think about how much they make bloat until they have to deal with their old bloat... and then they make more bloat.

Ability Bloat isn't a big problem IMO, but Home made it more annoying than it should be.

the real completionist hell in Home are the people going after Furfrou hair styles

Furfrou are terrible, but Abilities are way worse if you don't have Home and Bank subscriptions and filling Home's BDSP Dex without BDSP...
Source: I have all the Furfrou registered.

Moves are the worst thing because they include Event Exclusive Moves! You can't trade Pokemon with Event Ribons on Home, so you need a Home Subscription to transfer them yourself or a Switch online subscription to trade with someone that can transfer for you.

Let's hope SV are kinder to completionists. Wiglett having Gooey is pretty nice for the sake of not having to get a HA Goomy.

Mega Evolution is the result of energy from the Ultimate Weapon.

I was under the impression that Rayquaza gave humans Mega Evolution, but the lore surrounding the mechanic is pretty murky anyway.

It's an Imposter Amoonguss!

no stop please i beg of you

Indeed. Not a Furfrou collector myself but it took me far too long just to get Debutante (best trim imo).

You have what now?
Either you went through the Pokémon Home trade gauntlet for hours or you went to EGYPT.

To add on to this, the move dex includes all Pokemon moves except Z-moves, Let's Go Partner moves, and Max/G-Max moves. This includes all moves unusable in Sword/Shield, so having Bank is the only way to get ahold of them(outside of the Gen I moves not in Sword and Shield because all of them are in Let's Go) Additionally, the only way you can get Kyurem Black and White's signature moves registered is via Sketching them onto a Smeargle in Gen V-VII then transferring it to Home(Because Smeargle is not in SwSh, Kyurem is not in BDSP, and neither are in Legends).

Because I am crazy, as of Legends: Arceus I have completed both the move dex and ability dex(on top having a complete National Dex complete will all alt forms except some Gen V-VIII Shinies)

I don't think it'll literally be Drought and Electric Surge. It would be weird when there are setters for all existing weathers and terrains to have one of each be clearly better than the others by introducing a whole class of Pokemon that are specifically buffed by it.

Also worth noting that Khu specified that the legends reminded him of *non-primal* Groudon and Kyogre. To me that strongly implies a field effect that follows the normal rules: persistent after switching, overwritable by others of the same type using normal speed rules, possibly fixed duration. That comparison also makes me think the two will overwrite each other's abilities, such that "weather wars" are a core part of Ubers.

My personal guess? Their relation to paradox mons will be the same as Solgaleo and Lunala to Ultra Beasts: similar, but defined by their ability to create the wormholes/time warps. This will be represented mechanically by a time warp field effect ability which will buff paradox mons of the appropriate time and occupy either a new slot or occupy both the weather and terrain slots. (It may or may not also be possible for the effect to be placed by a move learned by paradox mons.)

How did you get Astral Barrage and Glacial Lance? Those are exclusive to a combination mon that can't be transferred to Home and aren't in a game with Smeargle.

Unlike Kyurem's moves, You just need Calyrex in general. I tried multiple methods of transferring and depositing base Kyurem and in the end I could only resister it using the Smeargle method for some reason.

On a similar note, for Temporary form-exclusive abilities like Parental Bond and Neuroforce, you simply need to transfer/deposit the base Pokemon from Bank(Because bank is directly connected to the games with megas, primals, and Ultra Necrozma), or in the case of All is One deposit Calyrex like you do with its rider-exclusive moves.

Wait, was everyone in Galar completely new?

You can also get around those abilities by depositing the Pokemon from Home-compatible games, too.

Which makes the Kyurem deblace stand out all the more, really.

In terms of important characters, yeah

SWSH is likely after Alola, anyway; Type Null was likely made after the debacle is resolved, Silvally requires Gladion to name it, Necrozma's items were made after USUM's climax, and the lead scientist works at Burnett's lab so presumably all the information on stuff like Poipole and other UBs come from that since they'd have way more definitive information on it after the events of Alola.

Holdonholdonholdon
First, I thought Freeze Shock and Ice Burn are available in SwSh.
Second... Is Light of Ruin ever released?

I feel like with every gen people start expecting a leak to happen earlier and earlier. Granted Sword and Shield did leak pretty early (but only two weeks before launch) because someone with a review copy took pictures of their playthrough, but unless someone is dumb enough to do that again, I wouldn't expect a leak earlier than a week and a half before launch

Light of ruin was never released legitimately as of now

Afaik, AZ floette is not present at all in home data
Eternal Floette is in the coding, complete with a 3D model in the mobile version, It just is inaccessible. Its signature move, and all other unseen moves like Z, Max, G-Max, and Let's Go partner moves are in the coding as well but simply do not have a slot in the move dex.
