I'm working on a team for racking up BP by doing the first 3 sets of fights over and over...
(I'll be using the Metagross/Starmie/Blissey team they recommend on GameFaqs)

I was wondering if putting double team on my starmie would be a good idea? I hear its really strong, but starmie is just a sweeper mostly. It might save my butt if I have to go starmie vs. milotic though. Opinions?

Double team is banned in standard play, but it is OK in the battle tower thing. I believe Milotic weighs an awful lot, so Grass Knot might help. If you are OK with losing a moveslot when you play competatively, use it on whatever you want.

I think double team would be better on blissey, Double teaming blisseys are a pain...

Breloom @ Toxic Orb
Adamant - Poison Heal
EVs: 252 attack, 252 Speed
--Spore
--Substitute
--Focus Punch
--Seed Bomb

Or...

Tyranitar @ Leftovers
Adamant - Sandstream
EVs: 252 attack, 252 Speed
--Dragon Dance
--Taunt
--Crunch
--Earthquake

Both of these Pokemon totally rape the first 3 rounds of the battle tower.

I really like that one, looks alot easier than getting a Metegross... To bad I have no idea how to get Dragon Dance onto a Tyranitar. I suck at breeding chains. Can you tell me how to please?

I would actually recommend Breloom since it can KO Palmer easily.

Rhyperior - OHKO with Seed Bomb
Milotic - 2HKO with Seed Bomb
Dragonite - 3HKO with Focus Punch

And you can outspeed all of them, so you can stay safe with Spore + Sub.

Okay, here's a question: Does substitute take into account the defenses or the hp of the pokemon that used it? For example, would Shuckle make bitchin' substitutes because the substitutes would "have" the same defense stats as their maker? Or would Blissey (I'm not going to make a Blissey with this, I don't even know if you can, this is merely for my argument as Blissey has such a high amount of HP) make good substitutes, because it has such a large HP stat?

Hawkings 11, the second. If you passed that Substitute to a Shuckle (say, through a Metronomed Baton Pass), that would be a bother to take down.

Thanks for the reply. I think that what you're saying is that a substitute's strength is directly proportional to how large the HP stat of its maker is. The higher the HP stat of the substitute's maker, the harder the substitute would be to take down.

Okay, here's another question: what do people in the competitive battling community think of the use of accuracy modifying (like Flash, for example) moves in competitive battling? I know that Double Team is banned in competitive play, as it is too powerful. Is negatively affecting your opponent's accuracy too powerful as well?

Here's another question still: Does Pressure take away an extra PP of an opponent's move if the opponent's move missed, or will Pressure only take away an extra PP of an opponent's move if said move hits the pokemon with Pressure?

A Sub's HP is determined by the HP of the user. For example, TyraniBoah, with 404 HP, makes Substitutes with 101 HP.

The damage dealt to a Sub is determined by what is behind it. a Baton Passed Substitute retains it's HP, and calculations are based on the new Pokemon behind it.

As far as I know, Flash and Sand Attack and the like are allowed.

Jiggy-Ninja, thank you for the information and responding. But I must ask, even if a Shuckle made a substitute, and the substitute's HP was low (as Shuckle's HP is low), would it still "take damage" as well as Shuckle does because the damage dealt to it would be calculated with Shuckle's defensive (among others) stats?

That's right. If Shuckle made a Substitute, it would survive any attack that would normally do less than 25% to Shuckle.

OK I have a question...

If a Pokemon uses Substitute and the opponent switches out. Then you use Dig (assuming you are faster), can the opponent hit the Sub? Or does it miss?

The sub would be counted as underground, so they're not hitting it unless they're using Earthquake or a No Guard Machamp.

I have a question that this might not be the right place for, but what are some of Smogon's best Manaphys? And how does this match up to them?
Careful #490 Manaphy: 31 / 0 - 1 / 30 - 31 / 24 - 25 / 22 - 23 / 16 - 17

I have an R4, I'm just waiting for a memory card for it...

I get the impression from reading some posts that with an R4 you can save a copy of a save game to your computer, and also that you can save a copy of individual pokemon files to your computer. Is that right?

Yeh, just open the save file with PokeSav and do whatever you want.

Also you bought the wrong thing, M3 FTW.

Does using pokesav not change the file somehow so that the pokemon will look hacked?

And I was under the impression that the R4 = M3 in all but name?
