I think incubators was a speculation that got out of hand due to big leak accounts. What Khu actually said was that the new method of breeding was "more convenient" for working adults. He was most likely referring to how eggs can be generated AFK at the picnic rather than an incubator.

On topic: Are there any egg moves that now become accessible that weren't before because there were no compatible chains before?

Part of me is a little sad that funky bootstrap egg moves like Extreme Speed Dratini used to be and epic sagas of egg move chains like giving honedge wide guard in XY are gone (I believe that path was Mantine -> Mudkip -> Turtwig -> Paras -> Dwebble -> Honedge lol). That said, the other part of me is super happy that access to important attacks has been made even easier. What a fantastic change!

Oh I was thinking more pre gen 9, since I assume these broken chains were designed around the new mechanics in the first place. All I remember is headsmash pass
the worst thing with nosepass and head smash is it would've been legal just two generations later and they never brought it back. L
anyway this is kind of nuts. i can see why genderless mons have egg move tables now. there's basically no such thing as an illegal egg move as long as one thing learns the move
Yeah I am throroughly convinced that the hisuian evolutions not being available in the game is merely temporary bc i see no reason why these two items would even be here (With reworkd artwork might I add) if kleavor/ursaluna couldn't be obtained

Well I was chitchatting about this with a fellow streamer who happens to do a lot of shiny hunting, and realistically now you can like, make your pokemon make a bunch of eggs that go straight to your boxes (without a prompt) in a row without needing much more than clicking the basket, and then open them all in a row .
Definitely not automatic but it's MUCH faster than keeping going around in circles for hours, swapping every 5 eggs and picking up 5 more from the holder.
It explains how Male-only and Genderless mons get Egg Moves now (Biggest being Parting Shot Grimm) and as mentioned in Tmon's post explains how Bascu can get Last Respects. Haven't noticed any others

The Pokemon that needs to hold the Mirror Herb is the Pokemon you want to put the egg move on.
I tested this with two picnic instantces with Quaquaval and Cyclizar (both are female btw, so gender does NOT matter).
When Quaquaval was the one holding the mirror herb, it got Rapid Spin.
When Cyclizar was holding Mirror Herb, Quaquaval got nothing.
So for those of you who want to use egg moves for ingame runs, doing it is easy! Just buy a Mirror Herb from the Delibird Gifts in Casacarrafa! It's the town with the Water-type gym in it.

Shiny Roaring Moon hunt scheduled once I finish Violet let's go. I have been wanting confirmation of this for a long time at this point.
"The user fights the target up close without guarding itself. This also lowers the user's Defense and Sp. Def stats." No mention of punching whatsoever. Heck, the S/V animation is likely to be closer to PLA, which completely removes the fists from the animation entirely.
Cool to see it worked out before it would've been revealed in the strategy guides. Here's the tweet for posterity hinting at Everstone + Destiny Knot + Mirror Herb being breeding items. If the egg moves all save into the Legends-style move list that'll be pretty convenient to set up full mons with.
Nonsense, they're smoking the herb to learn the moves clearly
Now that egg moves are more viable for in game runs: is putting these mons in a picnic also boosting their amie affection stat? Might be relevant to people who want to avoid amie boosts in the main game (less relevant if you're just bringing them to comp though lol)
Oh v sorry, there were two documents and one was incorrect and for some reason that’s all I remember
