chess power creep ideas

chess is a game where the core gameplay loop has gotten virtually no updates in the last 500 years or something, let's do smogoff stuff and ruin it with power creep

my idea : queen can capture without moving against pieces next to it if it has captured 2 pawns

You are now allowed to kiss the pieces for good luck before moving, giving your next capture a 40% chance to be a critical capture. A successful critical capture would provoke a cascade of confetti to come raining down onto the board. While the confetti is on the board, each piece becomes 1.33x more powerful and can move 1.33x further. If confetti is on the board, you may spend one turn clearing the confetti from the board. If selecting this move, you must remove all pieces from the board and then begin the clearing process. If you, upon completion, replace any pieces in the wrong spot you must immediately forfeit a piece that is, at most, rook level, or face immediate consequences.

you spot this at the local combined bar and library

how do you open?

players are allowed an “extra board”, which can consist of up to 5 pieces, 3 trap cards, and a pair of “pendulum pawns”. Pieces can be played from this extra board by sacrificing your own pieces, or by “pendulum playing” (inexplainable) a chain of pieces all at once

PROMOTION: If a pawn captures a piece, you can promote it into that type of piece (i.e. a Knight).

TRAMPLE: Knights can move onto spaces occupied by your own pieces, albeit crushing them in the process.

HOLY WAR: If a Bishop captures another Bishop, it can move once again in a row.

BALLISTA: Rooks allow adjacent pawns to move 2 spaces forward instead of 1, and capture 2 spaces diagonally instead of 1. An "eager" pawn moving for the first time can advance 3 spaces this way.

QUEEN'S COMMAND: The Queen can switch places with an adjacent piece you own instead of moving.

KING'S COWARDICE: The first time your King is in check each game, it can move two spaces instead of one.
