I'm considering changing my online name and profile details. Any ideas?

Over the past few weeks, something hasn't felt right to me as I've been trying to finish up the rest of my current semester of classes. School itself is going fine; it's more-so what I'm doing in my free time these days, which is to say... not much. My summer break is coming up here in a few weeks, and while I will be getting a summer job again, it's not like I'll be working all 168 hours of a seven-day week. (I did the math so you don't have to.) Preferably a lot of those 168 hours per week would be spent doing some combination of eating, sleeping, and free time activities. In realizing that my usual hobbies, while still interesting, aren't as fun as when I was younger, I thought it was time for a sort of identity change. The only things remotely related to social media I still use these days are these forums and YouTube, on both of which I've referred to myself as "bdt2002" for a couple of years now. On occasion, I'll throw in the word "Gaming" at the end, but this is inconsistent as I've heard some people say that's a bit cliché.

There's just one problem with this. What exactly would I change my name to? Changing the "Gaming" half of this would be easy. I do in fact have a few other hobbies I can think of that I don't usually talk about too often on these forums. There's the whole neurodiversity thing I love talking about over in Congregation of the Masses, I played soccer for nine years but was eventually forced to stop because "haha funny small school problems", and I've even had a rising interest in meteorology (the study of weather) for about a year now. I don't want to just settle on something like "bdt2002 Weather Watching", though. Not only is that way too long for my liking, but it also sounds kind of tacky, you know?

Realistically, I probably didn't need to make an entire thread just to talk about this, but I figured it could be fun to get some of yours' inputs and ideas on this subject. I do recall that somewhere there's a thread about how people came up with their usernames, but I want to try and avoid accidentally breaking any rules about thread merging if I can. So, uh... I guess that's all, then. If anyone has any input, thanks in advance; if you don't, that's perfectly fine too. Take care, everyone :totodiLUL:

I don't quite see the connection between your epiphany on having less interest in hobbies and wanting to change your name as a result since I don't know if "bdt2002" is a specific reference to anything, but I get why you wouldn't want your last name to be "Gaming" in any case. Personally I can't relate that much to your dilemma since for me I made a few different screen names for different games when I was younger and now I still use some of the same ones, which is like the inverse of your dilemma where you're trying to change your identity to try to represent your current interests. If anything, my suggestion is to consider changing the 2002 part of your name for privacy's sake, like if your name was bdt1923 then people would assume you are 100 years old and might ask you about the great depression.

From my perspective, I was okay with keeping that 2002 portion because I love talking about the late 2000s/early 2010s era when I was in the prime of my childhood. In a day and age where anyone with the skillset and the clues can find your information on the Internet (I’m not saying that’s a good thing), and given the fact I eventually plan on having a very social career path, quite honestly I’m okay with people knowing how old I am. There’s definitely going to still be things I never tell people online, of course. Nonetheless, I appreciate your feedback.

On a more humorous note, I hope to make it to 100 for the sole fact that I’ll be able to complain that I can’t play with Legos anymore. Seriously, they say Ages 3-99 right there on the box.
