Easy Way To Catch Ditto

I don't know if anyone has already figured this out or not but i've figured out a really easy way to catch ditto. All you do is: put a level 2 or 3 pokemon in your party, when you find a ditto, switch to the low level pokemon cause dittos first move will be transform. then all you do is throw a pokeball at it, ive only tried with ultraballs, but it hasnt failed to catch it, you dont have to damage it or anything. then you can start a chain and catch 8 or 9 dittos in about 5 minutes. The reason this works is because ditto copies everything even the pokemon's catch rate.

It's been a pretty well-known fact in most circles in Smogon; thanks for trying to offer your suggestion, however. I personally am preferential to just Dusk Balling them at night.

EDIT: Was gonna mention 'Karp, but keeping it after a fainted Syncher... eh. *shrugs*

You seem to be forgetting the obvious here. This is what Magikarp is made for. Have it turn into 'Karp, throw whatever ball you want, done.

Start with a Synchronizer equipped with Smoke Ball (so that it can escape from non-Ditto Pokemon), then switch for Magikarp. Ditto Transforms into Magikarp. Use Repeat Ball. It will catch it without fail, but even if it didn't, it wouldn't be able to hurt you as its only attack would be Splash.

If I recall correctly, Poke Ball and Great Ball sometimes fail to catch (Ditto transformed into) Magikarp. Repeat Ball (and anything else as good or better) never does.

That seems a lot easier than just running around with a Synchronizer and switching in a higher levelled Pokemon then having to play the battle game.

Thanks a lot.
you at least helped me.

Oh dear lord, I never knew Carp's catch rate was so high. @_@

I'll definitely remember this for future ditto sessions as I get tired of hurling infinity repea tballs.

Fainted synchronizer and a level 1 magikarp with smokeball should do the trick. Just splash on the first turn and throw a ball on the second.

Looks like most of the above already answered with the trick I always use: synchronizer - magikarp - false swiper - pokeball

Of all places, I most prefer Route 14 on FR/LG since level 23 dittos have stats that can instantly tell me which one is flawless therefore saving me trips to the battle frontier IV guy.

I would have to agree that desert undepass is better, due to its higher encounter rate. just make sure you bring some rare candies so you can check their IVs

The False Swiper isn't needed if you use Repeat/Dusk Balls.

The same happens at level 30 , and you can chain Ditto at level 29-30 on Route 218 in D/P.

Is it bad if I don't have Emerald? ._.

I feel so left out of so many breeding opportunities.

I wouldn't bother if I were you. I've spent over a month trying to breed a Tyranitar in Emerald, and still don't have a good one.

I wasn't plan on getting Emerald just for this, mind. But It's useful for Emerald tutor moves.

It still sells for around 30 bucks. ;_;

Back before I could buy infinite repeat/dusk balls, I was too cheap and used pokeballs instead.

Having at least a ditto for most desired natures or flawless IV stat certainly helped with breeding in emerald as next part after that is setting up chains to make the next breeding easier. IE. skitty, spinda, lapras, marill, magikarp, slowpoke. You get the idea.
