NOC Pokemon Mystery Dungeon Mafia - Explorers - Game Thread (Game Over!)

I need to sit and think about Shane. I was previously reading his thinking on genisu as overly rigid given that his thinking on genisu was level 1 and seemed to not be considering the context of who genius is as a person. And yes, I do see this as essentially a "bad play == scum" type read. This type of thinking is common on MU based on my experience. And Shane's tone has been good and volume has been good since I woke up.

That type of thinking is very uncommon on MU and I certainly don't play that way (nor am I really a MU-robot, my playstyle was shaped long before it existed). I think you have some misconceptions about MU based on a bad experience you had in champs, which is totally understandable, but I'm not calling anyone's level of play good or bad. I'm used to playing with people of all experience levels.

As for the read being level 1, you're talking about something that was posted three hours after the game started, lol. It's going to be a bit simplistic and based largely off of past experience in how I typically see newer players play, but it isn't so simplistic as me noob bashing.

wew ent through a slew of open setup games, this + last game are relatively rare in recent Smogon history lol. There was a game where I argued that scum announcer is feasible though when people wanted to clear Neon based on being announcer D1.

I think people mech clear Neon because they don't wanna try to read him sometimes.
from an outsiders perspective i would usually never think to kill a backup that takes a town role

Celever if you think genisu is town, why are scum threatened by a guy trying to vote off genisu when they can just let him take the fall and then case shane for it the next day phase?
because no one seriously cares about the person who started a wrong push early into D1. Doing that is precisely rand behaviour.

But by making it this huge overblown deal they are making people care about the person who started a wrong push early into D1, even though it's not intuitive to care about it.

And what the fuck are you smoking about M2H/Neon scum team? You think the D1 opener is a calculated bus???
Yes. Not necessarily calculated but enough of a "Neon is in scumchat saying he needs to claim D5" -> "M2H says oh claim your safeclaim then" -> "M2H realises at game start that Neon's about to get a bunch of towncred so she can push him freely to distance".

They didn't need to draw the step-by-step on a whiteboard it's pretty level-1 stuff.

in pretty sure laurels early demand for full claim is just his scum meta, he rolled mafia and got a fake claim flavour he thinks can clear him so he's trying to force fake claim to his own "good guy" flavour

wrong iiwm there would have been a sleu of claims which never happened. I just saw kecleon as my roll and instantly assumed i could win via flavor

The way the same action was reworded to fit either alignment almost verbatim is the purest wine I’ve seen in a while lol

Duskfall98 tbh 30% of the reason i spammed was i wanted to see how people would react

we had “fake” role PMs we could have gotten in assist trophy but i never asked for one lol

i just figured kecleon was a hard clear (tired of being lynched d2) and didnt read the OP to see mafia got fake claims anyways (funny they never claimed).

I instantly believe you

This would be really bad play and a disservice to my scum mate in this world. If a role is a fake claim, it is by definition, fake. Proposing we verify neon's role would out my partner in this case, and damage my own cred by clearing him. I'm not really seeing how this gambit goes well for me and fwiw I'm not a big dick player as scum without a strong ally in most cases.

It’s not bad play if Neon is scum backup / absorber / gravedigger / mimic all of which are possible you’re just incorrect about the mech tbh

Scum backup that copies town roles is legitimately not likely from a game design perspective. Plus neon just reads as towny to me anyways, after lowering my default level of suspicion of him. :blobshrug:
