Project SV OU - Lure That Threat - Week 41

Slowking-Galar @ Colbur Berry
Ability: Regenerator
Tera Type: Water
EVs: 252 HP / 252 Def / 4 SpA
Relaxed Nature
IVs: 0 Atk / 0 Spe
- Thunder Wave
- Chilly Reception
- Future Sight / Slack Off
- Sludge Bomb

Not a complicated set, Weavile comes in expecting to get a free knock but Colbur and max def lets you live two knocks back to back which lets you thunder wave then chilly out or slack off after.

252 Atk Weavile Triple Axel (40 BP) (3 hits) vs. 252 HP / 252+ Def Slowking-Galar: 156-189 (39.5 - 47.9%) -- approx. 3HKO
252 Atk Weavile Knock Off (97.5 BP) vs. 252 HP / 252+ Def Colbur Berry Slowking-Galar: 126-148 (31.9 - 37.5%) -- 92.7% chance to 3HKO
252 Atk Weavile Knock Off vs. 252 HP / 252+ Def Slowking-Galar: 168-200 (42.6 - 50.7%) -- 2.3% chance to 2HKO (No Item)

Bruuuuh look at my previous post. Is this allowed if someone mentions a set but doesn't provide one and someone else uses it? Also Gking can use focus blast which is funny.

Not sure if you're implying anything but I'll be real buddy, I did not read any of yalls posts.
I wasnt implying anything. I wasn't saying like to ban you or whatever and also I feel like that set is really cool. My first two posts were the exact same concept actually as previous ones: the first was a focus blast tera fighting clefable (someone else had done that but i didnt see the post) and tera fighting focus blast gking (also done before) so I'm not saying you did anything wrong.

Probably gonna skip this week (I may change my mind) but I'd recommend we update the Hall of Fame given that we're already over a dozen weeks behind. That number is going to stack up very fast if we forget about it, and that'll be a lot of effort to fix.

:Kommo-o:

Kommo-o @ Weakness Policy / Jaboca Berry
Ability: Overcoat
Tera Type: Fighting
EVs: 168 HP / 8 Atk / 80 Def / 252 SpA
Lax Nature
- Upper Hand
- Clanging Scales
- Vacuum Wave
- Flamethrower

Quick note about the EVs: If you would like to survive 5 hit Icicle Spear from Loaded Dice, you may use:
EVs: 168 HP / 96 Def / 244 SpA
Lax Nature

(This is my first time doing this so forgive me if I'm misunderstanding how this works, also I goofed the EVs/calcs like 17 times so hopefully its right)

This took me forever to find a mon that can swap into Weavile and take advantage of it staying in. I started my search by looking at mons on the viability list that Weavile dunks on usually. At first, I started messing around with max phys bulk :roaring moon: with jaw lock dragon dance and fighting tera tera blast/focus miss :blissey:, but it was too reliant on tera to work. Ideally, I would like my lure to work with/without tera. Finally, I landed on: :kommo-o:

Now, surely this dumb little dragon dies switching into a 80-120 base power ice move right? Wrong.

252 Atk Weavile Ice Spinner vs. 168 HP / 80+ Def Kommo-o: 174-206 (52.2 - 61.8%) -- guaranteed 2HKO after Stealth Rock
252 Atk Weavile Icicle Crash vs. 168 HP / 80+ Def Kommo-o: 186-222 (55.8 - 66.6%) -- guaranteed 2HKO after Stealth Rock
252 Atk Weavile Triple Axel (40 BP) (3 hits) vs. 168 HP / 80+ Def Kommo-o: 258-312 (77.4 - 93.6%) -- approx. 2HKO after Stealth Rock

Well, it lived (barely, like there's maybe 4 evs of leeway to survive switching in while rocks are up). Surely :Weavile: just clicks Ice Shard now right?

0 Atk Kommo-o Upper Hand vs. 0 HP / 0 Def Weavile: 436-516 (155.1 - 183.6%) -- guaranteed OHKO

Upper Hand will go before Weavile can attack with Ice Shard and OHKO if it is not holding a Focus Sash. Now, what if you are worried about Focus Sash and you are not running Stealth Rock? Well, thats where the second option for the held item comes into play. It reduces the overall strength of Kommo-o after Weavile is gone, but guarantees a KO against Focus Sash Weavile without having to play Upper Hand vs Vacuum Wave mind games. I considered Rocky Helmet, however, there is always the slight possibility of Protective Pads or switching into an Ice Shard (non-contact move). Jaboca Berry is activated by ANY physical attack, is eaten by the holder, and inflicts damage equal to 1/8 of the opponent's total HP, therefore it will activate on Ice Shard.

I must state that this isn't consistent, but even if they switch out immediately, you now have a +2 Atk and +2 SpA Kommo-o that can at least get a Vacuum Wave off. I do believe that many would not consider Upper Hand at all and immediately use Ice Shard though.

Tropius @ Sitrus Berry
Ability: Harvest
Tera Type: Fighting
EVs: 248 HP / 252 Def / 8 SpD
Relaxed Nature
IVs: 0 Spe
- Body Press
- U-turn
- Giga Drain / Hurricane
- Protect / Synthesis

Tropius is a passive Pokemon that usually uses Leech Seed combined with Substitute and Protect. The ideal target for Weavile to come after. However, it gets Body Press and U-Turn, allowing the Grass dino to work as a pivot, OHKOing Weavile in the process.

Other Pokemon Tropius can check:
Zamazenta
Great Tusk (Tera'ing to avoid Ice Spinner).
Waterpon
Rillaboom (only with Synthesis, since you will lose the Sitrus).
Hisuian Samurott
Landorus-T
Serperior
Keldeo

The deadline for the voting phase will be February 14th at 11:59 GMT-8.
Heey!
Are we counting Smashburn's post or not?
  • If so, Glowking wins.
  • If not, we are in a three-way tie between Gliscor, Glowking and Kyruem, then we'd wait for extra votes (idk if you now count Smashburn's one or not, I don't run this).

Sorry for being late on this, I lost my badge and am just going thru alot rn :psysad:

Congrats to Conflux123 and Gliscor for winning week 35! The set will be added to the Hall of Fame.

Week 36 - Roaring Moon!

:sv/roaring-moon:
Roaring Moon @ Booster Energy
Ability: Protosynthesis
Tera Type: Flying
EVs: 252 Atk / 4 SpD / 252 Spe
Jolly Nature
- Dragon Dance
- Knock Off
- Acrobatics
- Earthquake

Roaring Moon is probably one of the scariest sweepers in the tier, with its massive attack stat alot with movepool. Its great offensive typing helps it out alot as a setup sweeper, and its movepool lets it hit many things in the tier. Tera makes Roaring Moon more dangerous with Tera Flying Acrobatics, being able to hit things like Great Tusk and Ogerpon-Wellspring. Earthquake can hit steels like Kingambit and Heatran, while Knock Off stops things like Air Balloon Gholdengo from being a nuisance. With all of these factors, it does pose a question. What Pokemon can lure Roaring Moon?

Remember: Do not post checks like ID Skarmory that already wall Roaring Moon! We are trying to lure Roaring Moon.

The deadline for submissions will be Saturday, February 24 at 11:59 GMT-8!

What post did I miss? I count a 4-4 tie between gliscor and Gking.
