NOC Pokemon Mystery Dungeon Mafia - Explorers - Game Thread (Game Over!)

let's really think about this imagine the world in which i am mafia so i decided to claim vigilante let's assume that was the fake claim i was given.

can someone explain to me what i am gaining from approaching the situation like this????? oops SORRY guys i killed saber my top scum read lolz. "okay great jalmont nice try get em next time" etc etc. and then presumably my teammates bus me out one of the next two days. wow that sounds like a good strategy! what exactly is my big bright plan here? other than getting bussed? but why give up so easily when i literally could've made up some random shit and then no one would be talking about me! zzz

or i, a notoriously risk averse player made up being a vig to avoid a vote and get a cc. i would've picked cop to do that guys sorry

because living yesterday is worth lying about your role.

even if you're town if you value yourself over pulsar you'll still lie.

Okay. Sorry to hear that - you are welcome to get a wagon on me and pressure me to get the information you want. I would probably put my energies elsewhere though.

I'm also open to entertaining an offer of no vote today and mass claim tomorrow and I will give you what you want and then some!

Why do you so seem sure you'll be alive tomorrow if your claim is true?

And to answer your question:

To avoid a red flip (which is a hugely valuable piece of info at this point), to continue to occupy space as a slot that can't be solved which leaves a lot more possible worlds open and increases the probability of a poor lynch target d2, because as cop you'd have no excuse to hide results, etc. I could go on. There are plausible reasons that you'd do this as mafia if for no other reason than why the hell not. You were going to be voted without the claim. I just don't see what you have to gain as town to continue stonewalling. If you are advocating no vote d2, who's to say you don't just holster n2 and we're back at square one. That would be the logically consistent move to make if you genuinely want no vote d2. There is only one role I can think of that this play even makes a small degree of sense, but how are you going to report on results if saber is our only traditional protective role which is certainly possible if laurel is town-sided.

to reiterate for the people in the back, i have not lied about my role, i am town vigilante.

1. i could easily make up a result that would forego this entire conversation. if you think an approach of continuing to draw attention to myself is a logical one, then well i don't know how to respond
2. you are occupying space as much as i am occupying space or anyone else is occupying space. if my slot can't be solved then i'm starting to question your claim to be a "mechanical genius" exactly why you need so much from me i don't quite get. you have people going crazy claiming left and right or crumbing certain parts of their role. to be fair to you, you said you find laurel scummy so i'll take that i guess.

if i thought i had information that could help the town, i would share it.

the no vote comment was (mostly) tongue in cheek but presumably we would have more results and more interaction to glean info from eventual mass claim. if we want to decrease the probability of a bad vote today, why don't you kick off mass claim? i'm in favor

laurel i'm a little concerned about you because your reaction to me v oting you was to get very emotional and omgus vote me which makes me feel you are in your scum meta. i feel like you are a lot more detached as townie and less likely to follow the thread. so this reaction was pretty unexpected for me and reminds me of your scum game in celever's game last year. i'm especially interested in the fact that you seemingly didn't have a lot to say abut me until i voted you and now i am mafia ?? am i getting that right ?

fuck it why not I'm a town role blocker and I blocked joey last night. I need to know if you shit saber because I doubt he martyred you and in that world joey carried the mafia kill last night.

:marowak:

let's get it, i am marowak the dojo master

...and also the town cop. the reason i switched to a townread on Duskfall98 is because i checked him N1 and it returned innocent. i'm not a perfect town cop though, all i can do is learn if someone is able to kill due to their role or alignment, which i assume is because JALMONT is a vigilante. so if i was to inspect a town killing role, it'd still return guilty. duskfall can be 3P that can't kill, but he can't be be mafia, so i'm treating him as town

to everyone else: massclaim is fine at this point, because we had enough townie roles outed already that mafia were always gonna have kill targets. so might as well make up the difference and overwhelm them with kill possibilities. also, i think it's good for me to claim here anyways because people are suspicious of me and duskfall to some extent, so now you're gonna have to work with both of us being town. have fun!

also, if it's not clear i likely wouldn't have claimed without the vest. but since i have the vest, who cares, i'll buy us a night and a free inspect for tmrw

damn. i'm confused as hell. did not expect that

for what it's worth i did recognize the main reason clouds would claim bpv would be to avoid kills altogether and keep getting info role shots out. but everything being out in the open confuses me even more.

i have to be honest now the laurel/clouds interaction seems...way too convenient even more so. it seems WAY too simple to believe that yea we have a cop and wow the cop has a bpv we're in such a great position! obviously setup would have counters for mass claim

jalmont ur so cynical

but nah i get erring on the side of caution here, i will say probably kill laurel if some fuckshit winds up happening but for now i wouldn't vote him. i'll accept that he used his action in good faith for now and operate under that assumption, and the thought of him royally screwing over mafia by using his action on town cop is funny enough for me to not vote him out of pity anyways. looking forward to celever's return to thread more than anything

I agree this whole situation feels contrived. Though counterpoint, clouds pulled that claim out in >5 minutes of mine. That's a pretty high commitment move when it would be perfectly valid to just shade the idea of a countervote. And tbf claiming a bpv as cop probably gets you an extra few checks so it makes sense if we were ragging on clouds for not baiting kills before.
