  • Cool. Congrats. :-)

I don't use save states, since they don't work on my M3 DS, but I may start using DesMune for a Black save state. Seems it may be the only way to RNG for shinies.
I edited my last VM a little, just to warn you. I wrote it down wrong the first time, but I fixed it.
Well, if that's your Azelf stats, then it's the wrong one. Likes to relax is a low characteristic.

Ok, so with your party of 5, when you do this RNG again and land on your delay: you must be saved in front of Azelf and don't move when you land on your delay. Your frame advancement formula is 209 - 1 for Azelf which gives 208. Then divide by 2 and you get 104 journal flips to a page with a caught pokemon. So you do the 104 flips, exit the journal and talk to Azelf.

To answer your earlier question, that -1 monster frame is the one that accounts for having to talk to Azelf. So it's already included into the formula.
Are you going to tell me what's happening? I feel really bad now.
Edit: I take the blame if you messed up. I usually take many minutes preparing for every DPPt RNG, doing calculations for frame advancement, making sure I need to only subtract the monster frame or change the number in my party. I didn't have time to think your one through nearly long enough.
At this point, because I don't know if you caught a pokemon by accident surfing into one, and I don't know if you already walked 128 steps before coming to me with the frame advancement problem, I recommend you just start the RNG again. It's not that hard to hit the same delay.
Sorry, I reread what you posted and realized you said, no you only surfed. I was expecting you to answer my question about the 128 steps when you answered that, but you didn't. So this is getting really messed up.
Yes, but did you already do the 128 steps before you VMed me with this problem? Your information made it sound like you did. But did you? You should have made that clear, because catching the pokemon was not the best option if you didn't do the 128 steps.

Now that you caught the pokemon, please tell me you looked at it's IVs.
I need to know if you already did the walking (128 steps) before you started your journal flips. If you didn't walk, you just journal flip to your target, because 209 - 1 = 208 divide by 2 is 104

Also, it's impossible to be on frame 158 if you caught a pokemon. There's no actual frame of 158 near that 151 frame you were on.
If you didn't walk at all, you just subtract one for Azelf. 209 - 1 = 208

Divide by two and that's 104
If you're on frame 151, and you fish, which will add 4 frames, I think (please go confirm this before you do it), you will catch a pokemon that will put you on frame 180 (I think). Be very careful you calculate all advancements and use the frame list to be sure of the IVs so you know where you are.
I didn't find an even target frame. You're either going to have to start over or take a risk. Catching another pokemon will put you on the frame 1 frame, but you need to make sure it's going to be an even frame so you can divide by two and do the remaining journal flips. You also need to make sure the frame 1 frame puts you below your target frame, not above it.

If there are no NPCs where you caught the pokemon, you should be able to go right back into the cave and do the remaining journal flips. You could try fishing at the edge of the island. If catching another poke doesn't work, well you just start again anyhow.
    211 - 5 - 1 = 205

No that's still an odd number. Look for a frame that's even.
