My god Jumpman, how do you do it? I can't use your Drapion at all, my modified version of your team keeps getting beaten to a pulp before I can even break 100. I'm thinking of running something similar to DRAPULA I, but I'd like an expert opinion first.

hey i was wondering how many times you have lost in the battle tower with your winning teams with less than 100 wins and tried again. i feel i have pretty good teams and ive lost in the 60s or so. ive gotta keep trying probably though.

pokemonwargeneral: not anytime soon! HGGS is out and i could hardly care less about the Platinum Battle Tower. I'm more interested even in the Voltorb Flip in Goldenrod now, it's actually a nice challenge ingame for once that isn't a "challenge of stamina"...

bz313: I always Charm Salamence especially because it could be the Outrage one. If it's the DD one, I will Charm twice, then switch to Drapion, then switch back to Mesprit to Trick it into what is going to be -1 Atk as best. This isn't enough to threaten Drapion at all. I'm not sure what you did after it DDed, but surely you switched to Drapion since staying in with a TW-locked Mesprit is asking to lose. Also the link to the BT pokemon list is in the OP of the thread.

Sorry to bother you again, but I remember seeing a list of all the battle tower trainers after #49. I don't remember where it is. Do you have any idea?

I just made it to set 9, battle 63 or 64, I think. I faced a Salamence. I didn't know what to do, since it could've known Outrage, and that killed my team last time. I used Thunder Wave. Bad idea, since it was the set that used Dragon Dance. So, yeah. It DD'd, then killed off my garchomp and my scizor.

Any tips on this particular threat?

It doesn't show up after battle 20 so it's a non-issue. Even if it did, Drapion would always be able to set up on it or at least kill it immediately.

You should be Charming Outrage Flygon because if you Trick and it CHes Mesprit on turn 1 or 2 Drapion won't be able to set up. It has a very slight chance of killing Mesprit with CH Outrage on Turn 1 through the CH, and that's pretty much only if it has an Attack IV of 31. Since a lot of Set 4 trainers have 21 IV pokes, you're more likely to see a 21 IV Flygon, which has just a 0.16% chance of killing Mesprit with CH Outrage. These alternatives are better than the 12% chance it CHes with Outrage on Turn 1-2 and will be able to EQ Drapion.

You'll have to address the list and see which other pokes you shouldn't necessarily Trick on Turn 1.

Oh, my mistake. I have substitute, but thought your Garchomp had Stone Edge. Nope, it's all good now.
So what about Shedinja after 20 (I'm actually just finished with #49, a spot I'm familiar with)? Should I just switch out to Drapion, then?

Oh, and I lost to a Flygon with Outrage, too. Any other dangerous Pokemon I should know about? I know Vaporeon and Starmie are pretty dangerous, because of STAB Surf...

Definitely...no one who wants a huge record plays without looking at that list.

"Stone Edge is the worst move in the game", first of all. Second, you would only be hitting pokemon with quad weaknesses harder than you would with STAB Outrage. Yes, Stone Edge has 200 BP on Zapdos where Outrage has 180, and has a high CH rate. But 80% accuracy makes it only about 83% as powerful as Outrage even when it's SE (or when it's neutral and Outrage is NVW which only applies to Skarmory since you'd use EQ on pokes like Forry). Since you should be at least at +2 every time, there's hardly a time that Outrage won't kill everything you'd want to use Stone Edge on (e.g. every Legendary Bird). +6 Outrage kills Skarm most of the time anyway.

If you're saying you replaced something with SE I showed why that's not a good idea (especially if it's Sub), but even if you did that would be a good idea because of Shedinja...if it showed up after battle 20.

Ah. Well, thanks for that advice. I realized when you authored a list of all the Pokemon in BT that that might have contributed to your win.

For the modification, I added a substitute instead of stone edge to Garchomp. I suppose that would be bad because of Shedinja?

Specifically, I always Thunderwave Togekiss unless I know it's Togekiss1 or 3 which won't use Air Slash on Mesprit. There are other pokemon I never Trick unless I know their sets—basically you have to analyze every situation before making your first move because that's invariably the most important with a Trick team. That's essentially how I managed to get to 2364 wins—I have a ton of experience with Trick teams and after my progress was far enough I resisted the temptation to Trick things like Togekiss and Starmie and Infernape if I didn't know their sets because it wasn't worth the risk of losing because of a flinch or CH.

Also, your "bit of a modification" is a little worrisome—people have borrowed my Starmie/Tyra/Chomp in the past and done things like put Stone Edge on Tyranitar or make Starmie Timid with Life Orb, and even more so with my Drapion Team I wouldn't not recommend even the slightest alteration of moves, EVs or Nature.

Can I ask how you've managed to get to 2300 wins? I've tried out your team (with a bit of a modification), but I always seem to lose to whatever teams. Usually, it starts with Mesprit dying before it can set up anything, then Drapion going through an unlucky set of Acupressures (we're talking crappy stuff like SAtk and accuracy), and finally Garchomp dying. Specifically, last time I lost to a Togekiss with Air Slash.
