    Struggled at the start now at the stage where I need to engage, and hit the seed. My frame was off first time, now the second time. I'm getting a 31/31/31/0/31/31 Cobalion Impish

    Yes, you would do that if you can't Soft Reset (That helps you hit your delay more accurately, but it's still very possible without SRing). And remember to try and hit A right as the timer hits 0, you need to be accurate. But you already have experience with RNG so I'm sure you'll be fine :)

    If you have any other questions, ask. Btw you'll probably be off by a couple seconds on the first try, you just have to adjust your timer by changing your target second. So if you were aiming for 14 and got 16, you would make your target second 12 instead.

    Ok, here's what you do in SS:

    Sync the DS and timer. Turn your DS back on. The first timer is ticking. If you're using an AR: Get to the menu and wait at the screen that says "Boot Game with Codes" (And have "yes" selected). Once the first time hits 0, press A.

    If you're not using an AR: Turn your DS back on and start SS. Once the first timer hits 0, you need to soft reset (L+R+Start+Select, or was it L+R+A+B? I forget). If you can't soft reset that's ok. Instead you would just wait on the DS menu and once the timer hits 0 you need to press A to get into SS.
