well that means that the day care man can't troll you not generating an egg if you use pokemon from different species... other than that yeah.... omg I'm stupid. I can clone! just send me a female and I'll clone her for you. why didn't I think about this earlier? o.O
This also means however it is actually much more painful to get a match between a certain nature and ability AND good IVs, so getting females with the right natures is vital unless you know how to RNG abuse eggs -.-

From my experience, the gender/ability no longer are set the moment the egg is generated, but only after you actually take the egg from the day care man. This means that once the guy's holding an egg you can save, get the egg and if you don't like it, you simply SR and get a new one (I realized only after breeding for synch munnas... now that was painful -.-).
I hope you're not actually keeping ALL of the eggs and rather SR every time you get a male D:
